Blondie is another whose voice has gone for me... Just have a look on the iplayer shireb and see who pops up in the various categories they've got, but I expect most to be there. Debbie Harry is 77. Of course her voice isn't what it was. I've only seen two songs from Blondie's set so far (Rapture and The Tide Is High) and thoroughly enjoyed them. I'm watching Elton John atm (about 15 mins behind) and it's going pretty well. I'm by no means his biggest fan but am expecting a great show. I look forward to seeing Sparks on iPlayer in the coming days. So far, I've only seen The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte with a brilliant performance from Cate Blanchett unleashing her hidden Ron Mael. I've now seen the whole Sparks set and it was predictably brilliant (and complete with the original Ron Mael dad dance). They remain a fantastic live act.

I've just discovered, quite by accident because it was squeezed between the Manics and Leftfield, a 3 song clip of The Pretenders. With Johnny Marr. And Dave Grohl. When I saw them (The Pretenders) live last month, neither Marr nor Grohl was in the band. Should I ask for my money back ?

I have to say I loved Sunday's set by Cat Stevens.
I watched it live on I-Player but I saw his salty anti-Woke comment about it being a good job he got famous in the late 1960s/early 1970s was as he can't imagine being a Muslim today singing about loving their dog, and identifying as a Cat would go down well today.
Queens of The Stone Age were hugely impressive as well showing GNR how to rock live.
Despite Debbie Harry's vox being rather ropey it was a great set from a great live band. She still has the performing skills.
I feared Elton John was going to be another let down. But that was easily the best he has been live for well over a decade. He was magnificent, and the 21 song setlist was superb to win over the casual music fan.
It is such a power to his back catalogue he could have easily done almost as good a secondary 2 hour concert of many of his singles & classic 1970s classic album cuts (with available on site guests):
1. Funeral For A Friend / Love Lies Bleeding 2. Kiss The Bride 3. Island Girl 4. Take Me To The Pilot 5. Mona Lisas & Mad Hatters 6. Levon 7. Blue Eyes 8. Little Jeannie 9. Healing Hands (with London Community Gospel Choir) 10. Part Time Love 11. Border Song (Holy Moses) (ft Lizzo) 12. Can You Feel The Love Tonight (ft Rick Astley - who sung original BVs alongside Gary Barlow!) 13. Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word 14. I Want Love 15. Wrap Her(im) Up (ft Jake Shears) 16. I Don't Want To Go On With You Like That 17. Sacrifice 18. Empty Garden (Tribute to John (Lennon)) 19. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds (ft Paul McCartney) 20. This Train Don't Stop Here Anymore 21. Something About The Way You Look Tonight 22. Circle Of Life

I've now seen the whole Sparks set and it was predictably brilliant (and complete with the original Ron Mael dad dance). They remain a fantastic live act. If they were 50 years younger, the critics would be hailing them as the next great band, for their genre-bending experimental music, and willingness not to take themselves too seriously. For me, their set fell into the slightly weird and slightly wonderful category.

A shame to hear about the online abuse towards Billy Nomates about her set because she was playing without a band, leading her to ask the BBC to take down her performance. I think I was the first to champion her here at Haven and it's been great to watch her sound evolve and popularity steadily rise. Hopefully her statement that she wouldn't play any more shows after this summer was just a kneejerk reaction. Did Fatboy Slim get the same on-line abuse ? I doubt it, because he isn't a woman creating powerful, thought-provoking, original music. He's just an old white bloke whose entirely pre-recorded set saw him doing little more than putting his hands in the air for an hour and a quarter and singing along to other people's songs. Billy Nomates' was the most energetic set I've seen so far. And she has certainly moved forward since I saw her live just 14 months ago.

I caught a bit of it, didn't see what the issue was but then I am not a 'fan' just listened to the record and enjoyed it. I do get it though it can be disappointing if an act you love, does an acoustic set when you expect the band, that happened to be with the Lemonheads recently but then a solo druggy Evan Dando is not quite in the same league vocally as Billy Nomates.

I've now watched about 15 performances, and I have a new favourite. War On Drugs were sensational.

Watched the Pretenders before work this morning, and Chrissie Hynde is another artist in their 70s who still sounds incredible!
