Not immediately sold on this. I mean it’s good but way behind the best pop song of the year.
May need a couple more listens to settle in.

Also not enjoying yet.
Can’t even make out what the lyrics are in the opening section. PADAM was always going to be tough to follow, but thought she’d have something stronger on the record to work with than this…

Does it rival Padam? No, but not much does this year honestly.
Is it still a whole lot better than it has any right to be? Absolutely.
Looking forward to it earworming its way in my brain after a couple more listens.

Video.
It’s better than the song.

Really? For me this video is terrible. It's like Sophie Muller had a handful of ideas that she hasn't been able to make work in any other videos over the years, so she just threw them all into this one.
Song is mildly more enjoyable after about a dozen listens. Not sure how many will even give it that much chance.

The latest issue of Classic Pop magazine have called her new album her best since 'Light Years', but I don't think either of the singles so far have been as good as anything off 'Disco'.

Agree completely, Disco was fantastic. There are even a handful of tracks from X which are stronger than both singles so far, and that's considered one of (if not the) worst Kylie album released this century.
(I disagree with that strongly, and think she has at least five albums weaker than X this side of the millenium).

This is not growing on me at all unlike the instantly brilliant "Padam Padam".
The thing about this track is without looking up the songwriting credits I would have (wrongly) guessed she'd tapped up fellow Aussies Confidence Man for this track, as that is what it reminds me of, but her vocals are too mannered to make this work as an out & out banger.
I'm surprised to find Kamille co-wrote this; as this is not a patch on "Black Magic" & "Shout Out To My Ex" (Little Mix); "Don't Call Me Up" (Mabel); "What About Us" (The Saturdays); or "Sax" (Fleur East) which she co-wrote.

I must admit I love the album a lot more than I like either of the 2 singles on their own. It's still not up there with 'Disco' for me, but I've a feeling it will become one of my favourite Kylie long players over time!

Tension works better if you listen to the album whole, just still not enjoying it that much, there are at least seven/eight songs I prefer. I do agree that Disco is the better album.

I don't have any particular fave out of her BMG era albums, but I will say that both Golden and Disco had much stronger directions while Tension feels like a return to her Parlophone era albums in the sense that it feels very A&R'd. Like Hold On To Now feels very much like it ticks the box of a melancholic dancefloor type of song, so off goes rather Just Imagine and Somebody to Love off the standard edition because they tick the same box, despite perhaps being better songs than some on the standard.
Tension works very well on shuffle when you're out running - it's at least a better A&R job at collecting a bunch of good electropop tracks than Kiss Me Once and X for me as I don't think I exactly dislike any tracks (I even like Hands, despite it veering into cringe mode, because of course I want to hear a 55 year old pop star reference TikTok), but yeah.
