18 Color Me Badd - I Adore Mi Amor
Are they the worst new band of 1991, yes I think so. This is a super dull New Kids knock off, so that says how low we are getting. They are so cringey, their videos are dreadful. This band are really the worst. This was a US number one but thankfully we had more sense here and it only reached #44.

17 East Side Beat - Ride Like The Wind
File this under lazy karaoke cover of a classic rock song done to fit whatever is popular in the clubs. Super lazy and completely unnecessary. Similar culprits we will see on the next list, Hello Undercover!! This reached #3 in the UK.

16 Stevie B - I'll Be By Your Side
Still a thing sadly, this is just another drippy dirge from his 1990 album. This is another song that makes New Kids look like geniuses in comparison. This reached #12 in the US, did nothing here thank God. Playback disabled for your safety I suspect.

Regarding the Joseph megamix, they actually did something like that at the end of the show when the cast were doing their bows. When you think about it, it makes sense in that context. Not sure it was worth releasing as a single though.

15 Timmy T - One More Try
Yeh there was something going on in the US charts in 1991. Freestyle was a genre that never took off in the UK and we can be thankful for that, this dirge is one of the best and worst examples of it. Somehow this dreadful song which sounds like it was made with a Casiotone reached number one in the US.

14 Vanilla Ice - I Love You
I had to stop posting these yesterday morning as the site kept crashing but I really suspect that Proboards was trying to protect you all from this top 15, although I know there is at least one song to come that is loved here. This though is not one of them, it is the hip hop ballad time and it is just as cringey and bad as you would expect, utterly devoid of any talent or quality. His time is nearly up for now as this reaches #45 in the UK and #52 in the US.

13 PJB Featuring Hannah and Her Sisters - Bridge Over Troubled Water
I was never a big fan of this song in the first place and this version is fine when it starts but sadly that doesn't last long. Nooooo!! It is all the default standard house samples kick in. Hannah you should have just done this on your own, this is a complete terriblemess now. This version reached #21 in the UK.

12 Whitney Houston, Florida Orchestra - The Star Spangled Banner (feat. The Florida Orchestra) - Live from Super Bowl XXV
I am sorry total cringe why is this a single!!!! This reached #20 in the US, the first time the anthem returned to the charts since 1958. Just stop!

11 Sonia- Only Fools (Never Fall In Love)
Not her last appearance, we will have more Sonia in the top 10. This is of course another thing we never asked for or wanted and it is 100x worse than any real Motown. But the only reason this isn't in the top 10 is that Motown feel but otherwise it is horrible. Have to include this quote from Smash Hits. "Sonia would be The Supremes if she could find two other people like her". I read that as "Sonia would be The Supremes if she could find two other people that liked her". Anyway, I am sure that was total sarcasm. This reached '10 in the UK.

Ok top 10 time as we should be able to start my albums of 1994 list next week
10 Color Me Badd - All 4 Love
Yes it's them again, one of the worst boy groups to come out of the US ever. Now if this had been a hit first I might not hate it so much but their biggest hit had ruined any goodwill this might have got, not that it would have got much maybe raised it from a 1/10 to a 3/10. It is pretty harmless rubbish I guess. This was another US number one for them and reached #5 in the UK.

9 Sonia - Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy
Well her last appearance and it's a cover and a totally forgettable one at that, I was reading a post and I didn't even notice the song finishing, that's how nothing this is. It reached #22 in the UK.

8 SNAP! - SNAP! Megamix
So early 90s, you run out of singles so you just do a megamix and then you just resell the same songs again. hate this so much. If you like the 'The Power' just buy that, totally not needed. It reached #15 in the UK.

7 Simply Red - Stars
First off I will say I hated Simply Red before it was cool. I didn't actually mind 'Something Got Me Started' and their early singles but everything from this onwards maybe 'Fairground' excepted, is awful. I would rather be water boarded than hear this album again. Yes two of my flatmates girlfriends loved this album, NOOOOOOOO!!! This isn't even the worst song, we will save that for 1992!! Also before I didn't know anything about him but the more I read and heard about him just made me hate the band more. This reached #8 in the UK and #44 in the US, their last hit there, US got off at this point as well as the album only got to #76

6 Marky Mark And The Funky Bunch, Loleatta Holloway - Good Vibrations
Higher than Simply Red I know a bit harsh as this at least makes me grin in its awfulness. The beat isn't bad, and yes we have the lazy reuse of Loleatta's sample which she at least fronts herself this time. But Marky Mark is just terrible, just laughable cringe of the first order. This was a US number one and reached #14 in the UK.

I don't get the hate for Simply Red at all, and Stars is one of their best songs, but I wonder if For Your Babies is the other one you can't stand because that's my favourite of all of theirs and reached #1 in my chart.

I think it helps where you are in your life, last thing I wanted at 20 and even 30 was a baby!!

I'm one of these people who quite likes Simply Red (not whilst in the same timeframe and universe Wet Wet Wet existed). "Stars" is a great album, and in my opinion better than "Nevermind"!
However, I've always found Mick Hucknall to be a total bellend (unless he is talking about other people's music he loves)... and not just because he is a huge Manchester United fan...
It was clear who Peter Kay was lampooning in 2000 with his Marc Park character:

When I was at university, the act it was cool to hate, or uncool to like, was Wham!, probably because they were the most popular act at the time, and because they were dance-happy-pop and of course it was much cooler to like the Cure, or even better, a band that didn't make the charts at all.

Well I doubt there is much argument about my top 5 although maybe some defence for my number one, but if that defence is what i think it will be, don't worry I will debunk that !! I really dislike these more than Simply Red luckily most of them I will never hear again after this and maybe noi even my top 2 since we have past that point in Top Of The Tops reruns.
5 The Osmonds - Boys Will Be Boys
It's The Osmonds they aren't that bad??? Er no this is the next generation stealing the name and trying to get the fame by basically copying New Kids On The Block. Very hard to find any info about this but it was a big hit. Google is not playing ball but anyway it is awful.

4 Jive Bunny and the Mastermixers - Hot Summer Salsa
Just one last time, this is beyond dreadful in every way, nothing about it makes any sense. Modern Romance covers with bad cartoon impressions. Even Jive Bunny can jump the shark. It reached #43 in the UK.
