The Rolling Stones album which I play over and over again is "Hot Rocks 1964-71" which features all their best early stuff. Certain tracks on this album didn't feature on their recent "Best of" and they include the excellent "Time is on my side", "Mothers Little Helper" and "As Tears Go By"
The Who, i've only got a Best of album.

"The Velvet Underground & Nico" is a good place to start with the Velvets. Their debut and their best. Not to say that the others aren't subliminal either, mind...

The Who: A Quick One (While She's Away) is owned by either my brother or my dad.
Also try out these artists: Cream Thin Lizzy Deep Purple

Their album "Slaves & masters" is a masterpiece Ritchie Blackmore is a GENIUS! Some heavy metal mixed with the renaissance mood is pure pleasure.
