The squads are announced tomorrow for the tour to Pakistan.
The 12 who played in the Ashes look certain to go, so it's a case of who will make up the rest of the party?
We're likely to have an extra batsman, fast bowler, spinner and wicket-keeper.
These, apparently, are the leading contenders:
BATSMAN Robert Key or Owais Shah
FAST BOWLER James Anderson or Chris Tremlett
SPINNER Gareth Batty, Graeme Swann, Monty Panesar, Alex Loudon, Jason Brown, Shaun Udal or Gary Keedy
WICKET-KEEPER Chris Read, James Foster or Matt Prior
The spinner situation is the most interesting, as there's a good chance England will play 2 spinners, given the conditions in Pakistan.
Shaun Udal has a bowling average of 18.14 this summer, but he's 36 and that may put the selectors off...
For the batting position, it will be a tough choice between Key and Shah. Key has test experience but Shah has had a great summer, averaging 69 and the fact he was born in Pakistan might count for something. He has 15 ODI caps but has never played a test.

Go Prior I didn't think Sussex had many... they've been doing very well since the Ashes started.

I thought they said Bell and Collingwood could go back and play for their counties as they weren't going to be in...

Yeah, Notts won the Championship ;d #cheer#
But they wanted the other 10 to be fresh so they didn't get injured and told Bell and Collingwood they could go back and play. I'll try and find the article...

Aha, I see... injuries can't happen very often in cricket though, unless you get hit on the head or something...

Why on earth are they retaining Ian Bell.
And apparently Chris Reads' face "doesn't fit" - how pathetic.
