Hertha Berlin 1-1 Middlesbrough
A decent result in a game where both sides were reduced to 10 men in the second half, with Fabio Rochemback being sent off for Boro, just minutes after Andrew Davies had his nose broken by a Berlin player (to their credit, Hertha immediately substituted the player involved, even though the referee missed the incident).
Berlin went ahead on 43 minutes but Boro equalised almost immediately with a Yakubu penalty.
Boro team: Turnbull, Hines (Morrison 45), Taylor (Wheater 45), Riggott, Davies, Tuncay (Euell 45), Cattermole (Walker 75), Boateng, Rochemback, Aliadiere (Craddock 45), Yakubu (Kennedy 75)
Our next game is against Burnley on Saturday though I'm not sure how many first-team players will be involved. We usually have 2 or 3 pre-season friendlies especially for the reserves so we shall see...

New sponsor and kits have been unveiled today. Sat-nav manufacturer Garmin has taken over from 888.com. The new shirts are OK though I preferred the white band.

Those 2 guys aren't our other summer signings, by the way.

Boro have agreed a fee of £2.5m with Charlton for Luke Young.

Yes, it was an obvious area for improvement.
Parnaby was never a good right-back and Xavier was never a long-term option. We were after a guy called Steinsson from AZ Alkmaar but they wanted £4m, which is double what we were offering. With that in mind, Young would be a great buy at £2.5m.

good buy for ive also heard you may not be selling yakubu now Yes, it's looking more likely he'll stay as the teams who were interested in him signed other strikers for less. Man City signed Bianchi for £8.8m and Portsmouth signed Nugent for £6m. Yakubu would probably go for £12m but it looks like he'll start the season at Boro.

Yakubu would probably go for £12m but it looks like he'll start the season at Boro. dont know why you would want to sell him anyway your options up front are not great at the moment He didn't have a great season last season. He still has some good games but was generally inconsistent. Half his goals were penalties and Viduka carried him at times. With that in mind, if someone offered £12m, we'd have to consider taking it. It would allow us to strengthen the squad with 2 or 3 players, including another striker. Yakubu apart, there's a lot of unknowns about our strikeforce. Tuncay has done well in Turkey and Europe but we'll have to see if he can perform in the Premiership. Aliadiere has something to prove and his pace will scare defences. It's possible we may also use him as a winger. Lee Dong-Gook didn't do much last season but he didn't start many games and was coming off a long-term injury so he still deserves a chance.

1-0 down at half-time at Burnley.
Only a handful of first-choice players playing.
