Not being funny, but what is all this we cant show replays it's so bad, I'm sure I saw replays of Smith breaking his leg horribly, and Cisse. I just hope he does come back, somehow. I'm sure he will do. A career threatening injury isn't what it used to be. Injuries rarely do end careers now, especially with people so young...

Our thoughts are with him. Having seen the challenge in full: Taylor should get a minimum ban of the rest of the season (12 games seems about right). Worst tackle I've seen in a long time.

I think it only looks bad in slow motion, Eduardo beat him for pace, he was late, and slightly over the ball. The really weird thing is you see some players going deliberately over the ball on someone and they dont break a player's leg, although they could have done.

I really do think there have been much worse challenges. They just haven't caused injury that bad... If Carvalho's horrendous 15 yard run and two footed lunge on Agbonlahor doesn't get more than the standard three anything more than five would be harsh IMO.

Even if Eduardo does play again it is likely he will never quite be the same player. This once happened to a Bradford City player and he actually successfully sued the player who had injured him for nearly £1M, 11 years ago. In the case of Eduardo the payout could be a lot higher.

it wasn't that bad a tackle, david platt was saying it shud't of even been a yellow lol, i do find that a bit extreme though, it was a bad tackle, but ive seen 100's this season that are about the same, some got away without a card. taking into account that and the fact martin taylor is not a dirty player, only the extent of the injury is the problem

I think it only looks bad in slow motion, Eduardo beat him for pace, he was late, and slightly over the ball. The really weird thing is you see some players going deliberately over the ball on someone and they dont break a player's leg, although they could have done. Agree. Jamie Redknapp seemed to suggest in his column in the Mail this morning that Eduardo was actually unlucky, in that the damage was done because his left leg was planted and it had nowhere to go, other than to shatter horrifically. If his left leg had been off the ground, he would have rolled the tackle. He actually disagrees with frag too, calling it an "innocuous tackle". On the David Busst incident i remember seeing the images of Busst's leg in the paper, which were sickening. Don't remember seeing it on MOTD, though maybe it wasn't shown? Glad I didn't though, that would have been a whole lot worse. Interesting interview with him in the Mail this morning, two paragraphs standing out. "Everyone thinks my career was ended by a leg break but it wasn't that. I had a spiral fracture - the bone broke in jagged fashion, rather than it being a clean break. But it was an MRSA bug which infected my leg and damaged the muscle tissue beyond repair. In those days people just weren't aware of MRSA" Maybe that's why players careers are less likely to end now, hospitals are more prepared for MRSA than they were then. Haven't been on the Reading forum, but i'm sure our fans will have mentioned the tackle by Richard Carpenter that ended Chris Casper's career in a match at Cardiff towards the end of 1999. Difficult for me to comment as I was as much a Gillingham fan as Reading fan at the time and Carpenter was a Gills legend, but apparently that was a real shocker.

That was the worst one I've seen but that was just an accidental incident. I remember Schmeichel's reaction... what was Schmeichel's reaction? Was he sick? Even if Eduardo does play again it is likely he will never quite be the same player. Agreed. It said in today's paper that while Arsenal are confident he'll make a full recovery there are no guarantees he will be able to play at the top level again. The same could be said about players who have serious knee injuries. Owen is a prime example, but Bobby Convey and Ibrahima Sonko are examples of current Reading players. In the same way as Owen, Convey picked up his injury during the 2006 World Cup at a time when he probably wasn't fully fit, after a long Championship season in which he missed just one league game. In Sonko's case if he hadn't tried to live up to his "Superman" tag and played on it may not have been so serious.

I watched this game in the pub. A good and deserved win for Tottenham, who were better tactically throughout the match. First time since 2005/06 that the better team has won in a major cup final (except possibly last season's UEFA cup, as I can't remember it). Was amused by Chelsea time-wasting even when they were behind (bickering at a throw-in) ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/999290/images/iQNFaLKvAhue0vpkMytp.gif)

spurs have the makings of a top 4 team now but will Berbatov stay?

spurs have the makings of a top 4 team now but will Berbatov stay? Now that they'll be in Europe next season (albeit just the UEFA cup), it's more likely... And then again, Everton, Liverpool and Villa (+ possibly Man City/Portsmouth) also have the makings of a top 4 team.

Villa need atleast 5 or 6 more players I think. They have a very good 1st XI but they won't always be this lucky. They've had virtually no injuries, just a few that have been 3-4 games.
