After just seeing the highlights on the BBC it was definitely a penalty, sending off may have been a bit harsh but it was definitely a penalty! The Ronaldo one, debatable at best! You see them given but it happens all the time when a defender shields the ball out for a corner. It was a good old fashioned shoulder challenge, it's not illegal!

Great day for the neutral in the FA Cup, two big shocks... from the BBC highlights, United losing to Portsmouth looked like a real freak result. Barnsley-Chelsea was a bit closer, again the underdog won, and with all those chances Chelsea had in the second half, they can feel unlucky.

I thought Chelsea were rubbish, no real clear cut chances imo, not good enough, not seen the United highlights, but both mel and sam said there was no contact, so it was not a penalty?

He didn't bring him down as such, Baros' knee went into his head and as a result fell over. Still a penalty. Keeper didn't play the ball, contact, goal scoring opp. Penalty + red card!

two covering defenders, by the law of the game that means it was not a clear goal scoring oportunity, ie he could not tap it in uncontested. so i think it should of been a yellow and a penalty ofcourse.
just one look at the tevez incident in the first half when he was past the keeper with only glenn johnson to beat. johnson managed to get the ball away, point being even though baros was past the keeper it was far from a certain goal

I thought only Rooney was there. Didn;t think Nani had any realistic chance of saving it.

even if their was only one it still should of been a yellow. nani probably could only get there if rooney held baros up a bit, which was a possibility. still i dont think the keeper had a chance of saving the penalty

You see them given but it happens all the time when a defender shields the ball out for a corner. It was a good old fashioned shoulder challenge, it's not illegal! I agree. It was definitely a penalty but the red card was harsh. There were two defenders who could have prevented a goal but referees do tend to ignore that when a goalkeeper is involved.

I thought after the first round the Cup would be a huge disappointment this season. It's been the complete opposite! :
