CANT FIND THIS TITLE!! My ultimate favorite movie, 1940 era black and white. Movie premise: Widow has fiance, who wants to kill her for her money. Shes young & naive. Fiance hates her dog, who growls at him sensing he's up to harm. Evil Fiance sneaks over & throws poison steak over lady's gate at night, to kill her interfering dog. Dog goes to animal heaven, in this case the moon, where lion presides as king of heaven. Asks to come back to earth to save his mistress, king lion agrees, lets another angel come along, this one was a racehorse before dying. Both trot down the moonbeam together and become a man and lady human (ghosts) as they touch the earth, setting out to save lady, and theyre dressed as reporters. Detective/whodunit twang to this film...Some comedy, total black and white 1940 era movie. Lady reporter angel who used to be horse, cant help refraining from biting hay-bales in the racetrack, tho dressed as female reporter. (comedy)...The 2 reporters uncover some racetrack crime going on related to the bad murderous fiance, typical day saved. . maybe they were killing racehorses? (who done it). Any one know this title? I always thought it was 'stairway to heaven', with William Powell, but I only find a 1946 David Niven movie that title completely different plot. Anyone out there who remembers this title? Channel 11/9 70s it was a standard feature, black and white, 1940 general vicinity. (could be late 30s, or late 40s, I was a kid).
Ive been trying to find this movie for 10 years already. Clues???
