I am extremely interested in seeing it - even if it does come across as a bit 'preachy'. True some people criticise it of potential anti-semetism but at the end of the day freedom of speech should be preserved.

I'm going to see it tomorrow. I've heard the following about it: 1. It's very very gory 2. It only focuses on the death of Jesus and virtually nothing about his message 3. Although it's Biblical there are a few werid things - like Satan being androgynous etc.... I don't really want to fund Mel Gibson but I cannot not see this film. Although I think I will dislike it, I have to keep an open mind. Just hope I'm not the third person who's died as a result of seeing this film

I thought it was a pretty good film - not brilliant but no way as bad as some people made out. It is fairly gory but I've seen much worse... moving too, especially the bits with Mary confronting Jesus as he walks with his cross... there was a bit of using the emotional music too much plus it did drag at several points during the movie. I don't see it as anti-semetic, the Romans who do all the scourging come out worse than the Jews purely because of their sheer brutality. It's not very preachy at all which is good for a non-Christian like me. If I'm unsure whether the story of Christ as portrayed in the Bible and this film is historically correct, it's still worth watching as an analogy of the barbarism and cruelty that's gone on both in the past and some corners of the world today. What really stood out for me was when Jesus told Peter not to kill the captor when he had the chance saying 'Those that live by the sword, die by the sword'.... some of the hawkish Bushites around should take note. Homeses' rating: 7.5/10

Thanx for the analysis Homsey! I haven't seen that film yet, but I'll surely do as I'm very curious about films that create such a noise.

That's the weird thing about the film. It's pretty forgettable IMO a few days afterwards - mind you since I'm not religious that probably explains it!
