I don't really buy any soundtrack albums. I do own The Bodyguard one though. There's only ONE soundtrack album that I can truly say I LOVE and is my FAV EVER, and that is the soundtrack to 'Somewhere In Time'. It's beautiful. I really like John Barry's music. In fact his music is featured in a film adaption of Frances Farmer's life story and I can clearly hear the resembelence between the 'Frances' score and that of 'Somewhere in Time'.
As for tv music, Mark Snow who did the music for the X-File's and is incidentaly Tyne Daly's brother in law, stand's out for me.

i'm not a big fan of soundtracks, though i tend to prefer largely instrumental ones. i quite like the lotr soundtracks... very atmospheric nice to have on in the background while you're working. the gladiator one would have been lovely, but i never bought it.

I say it's "Batman Forever" The OST is HUGE feat bands & singers like: U2, Seal, The offspring, P.J. Harvey, Michael Hutchence, Massive Attack, Nick Cave & many other. Some stunning songs there.
