Chart Comments
No climbers this week so commentary only on new entries and interesting changes.
Delta Goodrem alas surrenders the #'1 slot after only one week there with 'Not Me Not I'. She falls to 3 leaving the door open for 2 new entries in the top 2.
Evanescence have their 2nd #1 on my chart with 'My Immortal' following on from the marvellous #1 'Bring Me To Life' and #2 'Going Under'
Christina Aguilera could also have achieved a 2nd #1 this week but in the end has to settle for #2. This means she has now had a #1 (with Fighter which has now left the chart after a massive 6 months), #4 (Can't Hold Us Down) and a #2.
This also means that the top 3 are also the 3 biggest acts of the year according to chart points.
Madonna matches Delta's feat of 2 songs in the top 10 with 'Love Profusion' entering at #5 and 'Me Against The Music' falling to 3 to #7.
Hollywood was her last solo single and that made #4.
4 new entries between 8 and 11.
Nelly Furtado has her first hit with 'Powerless'
Alicia Keys also has her first hit with 'You Don't Know My Name'
The Cheeky Girls have their third hit with 'Have
A Cheeky Christmas' at #10 folowing on from 'Take Your Shoes Off' at #3 and 'Cheeky Holiday' at #4.
Big Brovaz also have a third hit with their #11 'Ain't What You Do' after #2 'Favourite Things' and 'Baby Boy' #5.
Texas enter at #15 with 'I'll See It Through' which is actually lower than 'Carnival Girl' # 14 but this is no indictaion of what i think of the songs as this one is much better.
Outkast suffer heavily in what was the best release week of the year. Their chart run is this.
10-11-10-7-17
Gareth Gates is also a major casualty falling 13 places to #18.
4 new entires still to come..
#20 Cliff Richard, well it is christmas.
#27, well i said i wouldn't chart it but i decided to anyway its Ozzy and Kelly.
#29 is Good Charlotte
#34 is the major flop 'Funky Dory' by Rachel Stevens. This after #4 'Sweet Dreams My LA Ex' which left the chart this week after 12 weeks on the chart with 297 chart points accrued.
We have new longest runners this week after Christina Aguilera's 'Fighter' finally exited the chart after 26 weeks. 'Miss Independent' and 'Are You Ready For Love' by Kelly Clarkson and Elton John respectively have both racked up 16 weeks on the chart, this makes them the new longest runners.
