I'll work on making some beautiful table version of the chart sometime, which I could possibly produce "automatically", i.e. write a program to produce it.
For now, the text version will have to suffice.
The "spirit" is now entering the chart again, with a novelty record entering at #4 - the high position possibly because I somehow feel it would be "too late" if I let it climb slowly, but really I just can't stop playing this.
Based on "can-can" which was already an NM #2 hit in 1981 for Bad Manners. The new version has added witty lyrics.
I have already prepared for after Christmas to credit the B-side which is called "My Enormous Penis".
If CUYC does reach #1 it will be the second #1 in just a few months to mention Kylie in the lyrics. Maybe soon she will herself have her first #1 hit.
Also part of the "festivity" is people like Gareth Gates doing reasonably well in the chart - ok #42 isn't that great but it might climb. It's already his biggest solo hit so far, but he did reach #25 with the Kumars.
Cliff Richard gets the 3rd highest new entry, and his first entry of the 00s, adding himself to the list now of those who have had a hit in every decade. There isn't anything prepared for this single after the festival and therefore its life is likely to be short even if it makes a big climb next week.
