Oh well, after making a spectacular debut last week, Charlotte Hatherley only climbs 2 more places, and leaves us wondering again where the next #1 will come from. For now I am starting to think it will come from one of the Elvis singles - sorry you lot but 2005 has been poor so far, loads of "indie-rock" but none of it that particularly good. I hope this is not the way it is going to go, although obviously there have been far worse starts to years.
Here we are talking about my release list that I had to stuff onto 2 CDs because I couldn't pack them all into one. And then the following week I had over 30 songs so was going to fill in another 1½ CDs but ended up rejecting so many I ended up eliminating it down to about 12 songs thus simply completing the CD I had.
Is "Dakota" really the best song Stereophonics have ever done? It got to UK #1 so I guess it must be, but then I guess that tuneless "Bartender And The Thief" that never appealed to me must have been their best single before as it was their previous biggest hit. They've done so much better stuff - this latest one is ok but I could almost hear Status Quo singing it.
But then I did have to spend a week pretty much stuck in a car so maybe it was just the mood I was in.
Yeah, I'm From Further North Than You deserved to be #1 but 5 weeks is a bit flattering and 6 certainly would be.
