DROPPING OUT
-- 15 You're My Flame - Zero 7, 5 wks, PP #5, Run: 24-10-5-10-15 (Silver)
-- 20 Save Us - Feeder, 6, 8, 19-11-8-11-14-20 (Silver)
-- 23 Eleanor Put Your Boots On - Franz Ferdinand, 6, 2, 17-2-3-7-12-23 (Silver)
-- 24 Hugging My Grudge - Boy Least Likely To, 2, 22, 22-24
-- 25 White Collar Boy - Belle And Sebastian, 9, 1, 13-1-2-6-10-14-23-24-25 (Gold)
-- 27 Travel Is Dangerous - Mogwai, 9, 7, 18-11-7-7-8-11-14-17-27 (Silver)
-- 28 Deadwood - Dirty Pretty Things, 7, 3, 12-3-6-4-10-19-28 (Silver)
-- 29 Twenty Twenty Surgery - Taking Back Sunday, 1, 29
-- 30 To Die A Virgin - Divine Comedy, 1, 30
The 200th number one arrives, and it's Muse with their 9th. Amazingly, only three of the 12 Muse songs to be released since Plug In Baby have failed to get to #1, and two of those were part of a double A-side where the other song got to #1. The odd one out is Hysteria, which got to #2. If I did an albums chart, they'd have been #1 on that too for about the past two months.
Plenty of big risers and nine new entries mean a few big fallers. After failing to chart at their first opportunity two weeks ago, The Young Knives are now in the top 10. The Fratellis debut impressively at #8, despite the fact that I first heard the song yesterday. They'll be challenging for #1 soon.
Other highlights of the new entries are Bell X1 (with a song that reminds me of Easyworld), Suffrajets and Goldfrapp.
Chart histories and bubblers - in about a minute, as I'm super-organised this week
