100 The Fratellis "Creeping Up The Backstairs"
Their first single from earlier this year. Wasn't something I liked loads to start with but grew on me the more I heard it. From a good album though it does have some duff tracks on it. NOT their best single.
099 The Strokes "You Only Live Once"
Despite nicking the intro from Sum 41 of all bands this was still fairly good. One of just two tracks worth listening to on the awful album.
098 Jamelia "Beware Of The Dog"
Even though it is a complete rip off of the much better SOS it's grown on me rather a lot recently. The only song released in December to make this countdown. Jay Z, The Rapture and Outwork were all eliminated in the last stage...
097 Young Knives "The Decision"
Marvellous. Despite their first two top 40 singles being complete dross their next two are both excellent. The other to come later. Excellent video too, worth watching.
096 We Are Scientists "It's A Hit"
Did release two singles this year but this was their best. Nobody Move... just missed out. Cash Cow should've been released.
095 Arctic Monkeys "When The Sun Goes Down"
The first of four very different songs which reached number one in my top 100. I do still like it but nowhere near as much as I did when it came out. Infact, the only song this year that reached number one on my personal chart that is lower is Fall Out Boy which I now dislike and wouldn't even have made a top 200!
094 Sugababes "Red Dress"
The only good song they've released in their last four. Don't think I've ever been able to say that about them before. Still, they've been better than the last four Girls Aloud singles.
093 The Rakes "All Too Human"
The first and only Rakes song I like. A generally awful band who are even worse live. Really cringeworthy that was. But appreciate the greatness of this
092 Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Gold Lion"
Another band I hate. This was excellent and for once Karen O wasn't quite screeching all over the place.
091 The Spinto Band "Oh Mandy"
yay! for mandolins. I feel that they should be used MORE in music. I like his voice, not heard anything else by them that's this good though.

090 Hope Of The States "Sing It Out"R.I.P. Sadly the band have now split. It's a shame as they made decent records but couldn't get any chart success. Oh well, it's not as if they were amazing and I'm sure I'll live. 089 Arctic Monkeys "The View From The Afternoon"Used as the lead track off the "Who The f*** Are The Arctic Monkeys? EP" this is one of the albums better songs but there are certainly better (Mardy Bum, A Certain Romance, ...Dancefloor & Still Take You Home). Their second and final entry. 088 Hot Chip "Over And Over"The first song I ever heard by them. Not their worst but not their best (still one more song to come...) Very catchy and gets stuck in your head! 087 The Kooks "She Moves In Her Own Way"I really think that I should hate these but they make catchy pop songs which grown on me rather a lot and I can't help but like them. Not an amazing band and probably aren't deserving of their success. Not their best song but their best single from this year. 086 David Guetta vs The Egg "Love Don't Let Me Go (Walking Away)"Two good dance songs mashed together to make an even better one. I didn't like it so much when it first came out but it's grown on me over time. Quite a lot. 085 Architecture In Helskini "Wishbone"Have to thank Dandy for this one. Probably the most random song in here, but fantastic. Only recieved a 7" release and there was no video.. 084 Alesha "Lipstick" Again, something I should hate but is actually really good. Her other single "Knockdown" was good too but I prefer this one. 083 Amy Winehouse "Rehab"The first song I've ever liked by her. And judging from her next single may well be the only song I ever like by her 082 Gnarls Barkley "Gone Daddy Gone"The first of just two cover versions in the countdown and the first of three songs for them. This was one of 2 songs I found before the album came out, the other being "Who Cares?" which was coincidentally the other AA with this. Always liked this one more. Rather good video. 081 Guillemots "We're Here"This is faboulous despite being one of the weaker tracks on their album. It's their only entry in here due to their other 2 singles being re-releases. It seems odd that a band I've loved so much in 2006 can't even make the top 80!

080 Nelly Furtado "Maneater"
The second number one and first Nelly song. She may have sold out with it but it's still good. Unlike Promiscuous which has to be one of the worst singles of the year!
079 The Raconteurs "Broken Boy Soldier"
I didn't like this at first, thought it was quite whiny and not a patch on Steady... but I now rather like it. Album's still a bit sh*t though...
078 CSS (Cansei De Ser Sexy) "Let's Make Love And Listen To Death From Above"
Didn't know this when it was released but downloaded it with recent single Alala. It's quite good and I shall be getting the album at Xmas. There's been a lot of decent indie/dance stuff recently...
077 The Pipettes "Judy"
The last act that have 3 singles in here to appear. It's a great song but there are definitely better on the album that could've been released...
076 Richard Hawley "Born Under A Bad Sign"
I love this. And his album. He has a beautiful voice and should've won the Mercury!
075 Jet "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is"
Not as good as some of the stuff off the first album but it's still good and rather catchy. Will get their second album soon...
074 Imogen Heap "Headlock"
She has a lovely voice. Not the first track of hers to appear. I really like the album and don't understand why she's still not had much success.
073 Coldcut ft Roots Manuva "True Skool"
I'd be surprised if anyone knows this. And tbh I doubt many would like it. Rap meets Drum n Bass and a Bollywood sample is hardly something that many people on any messageboard I've ever posted on would like...
072 The Similou "All This Love"
I can never understand dance music. Cheesy sh*t like Cascada can be huge yet brilliance like this goes almost unnoticed. A CRIME. I never knew they were Swedish. 4 Swedish acts on here then!
071 Cassius "Toop Toop"
Downloaded this after people mentioning it ion another forum I post at. A great piece of indie dance that's again, gone un-noticed.

070 The Go! Team "Ladyflash"
The first of two songs in a row from albums released around 18 months ago. But as it was released in January it's still eligible to chart. Their only top 40 single in the UK. It's most fabulous but can only manage to end up 60 places lower than "Bottle Rocket" last year.
069 The Magic Numbers "I See You, You See Me"
It's lovely. Apart from Foverver Lost it's the only track of theirs I'm really bothered about.
068 Beyoncé "Irreplaceable"
I really should hate this. She's always been awful ever since she went solo and I've hated everything she's released. Until this that is. A rnb by numbers ballad but is somehow just so much better than anything else from this year which could be described as similar like "Me & U" or "Unfaithful"
067 Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. "Chronicles Of A Bohemian Teenager (Part One)"
Most certainly the act with the best name in here. He ain't a bad singer either which is always a good thing. Not my favourite single of his from this year, though probably the most well known.
066 Juliette & The Licks "Hot Kiss"
It's not often an actor/actress starts a music career and it's both successful and good. Juliette Lewis is amazing but hasn't really had any success as she doesn't make music for the masses. More recent single "Sticky Honey" is also good but missed out.
065 Young Knives "Weekends And Bleak Days (Hot Summer)"
First song of theirs that I liked. It's rather good and should've been a bigger summer smash. Superb lyrics and a decent video too.
064 Pendulum "Hold Your Colour"
The title track off of one of the best albums I own. Drum n Bass hadn't been a genre I was at all interested in until I first heard these. It's not as good as last years "Slam" but is still rather marvellous.
063 Scissor Sisters "I Don't Feel Like Dancin'"
Second best number one single of the year, easily. I really liked pretty much all of their first album so was quite glad when they came back. I really liked this song to start with but less so now due to overplaying by me, radio and tv.
062 CSS (Cansei De Ser Sexy) "Alala"
This is the first song I heard by them about two months ago. Loved it from first listen and downloaded it straight away. Great band who will hopefully break through a bit more next year!
061 Belle and Sebastian "White Collar Boy"
The first B&S song on here. Although the album is really fantastic it took a while for me to like anything apart from the three songs which were to be released as singles. Now I would only put one single in my top 5 on the album. And it's not this...

060 Muse "Supermassive Black Hole"
Their best single of the year by quite a way imo. Starlight is also pretty good but Knights of Cydonia is their weakest single ever. For me anyway. Their album still isn't one that I've purchased even though I've been "meaning to" ever since it came out in the summer. I've never even heard it all the way through but the songs I have heard don't really make me want to go out and buy it. I'll probably won't get until I see it for something like £4 somewhere...
059 The Boy Least Likely To "Be Gentle With Me"
Yay for random songs. I don't know about anyone else but I think they're probably the most "fun" act I've heard all year. It's a lovely song
058 The View "Wasted Little DJs"
So insanely catchy and a song that often get stuck in my head even though I have no idea what he's saying with is Dundee slang. Second single "Superstar Tradesman" was quite sh*t but the next single "Same Jeans" is actually quite good
057 Snow Patrol "Chasing Cars"
A song that should may be a bit higher, but I can't say I've ever been a HUGE fan of it and I've probably been caught up in all the hype that's surrounded it. It's had a fantastic chart run. Was used so effectively at the end of the Big Brother series
056 Hot Chip "Boy From School"
My favourite song of theirs, utterly brilliant piece of indie dance. For a band that would appeal to fans of many genres I can't quite see why they aren't bigger..
055 The Knife "Like A Pen"
The first of two Knife songs to appear but the only one to be by The Knife. A lot of blips and blops makes this song magnificent. I shall probably purchase their most recent album fairly soon as "Deep Cuts" is fantastic and this song would fit in amongst the best on it.
054 The Feeling "Fill My Little World"
Superb MoR-pop from these. A song I heard well over 12 months ago and reached the top 5 of my personal chart on both of its releases
053 McAlmont & Butler "Speed"
A fairly low-key return from the guys that made one of the finest songs of the 90s in "Yes". This was a pretty good single even though it was fairly generic and nothing groundbreaking. Good, listenable pop music.
052 Peter, Bjorn & John "Let's Call It Off"
Came publics attention with "Young Folks" in august which was a really good example of a song entering the top 40 because of quality alone. This was their second single which IIRC didn't make the top 75. Pretty good though there are better songs on their album...
051 Imogen Heap "Goodnight & Go"
The second and final entry for her. As I said earlier, she really is great and deserves more success. If anyone is a fan of the female singer-songwriter type like Nerina Pallot then you should check her album out.

050 Akira The Don "Oh! What A Glorious Thing!" (UK Chart Pos - An EP - chart ineligible) I woke up about 9, opened up my eyes, figured it was time rise through, the curtains open wide...Rather obscure. Doesn't have a video and I can't be bothered to upload it at the moment Described as a Welsh rap artist though it's certainly the more commercial side of it. I would like to predict big things for him but I won't because I'll probably be wrong!

049 Jim Noir "My Patch" (UK Chart Position - 65) If you ever step on my patch, I'll bring you down, bring you down...www.youtube.com/watch?v=OX9g1qpuvGUDespite reaching number one on my chart this isn't his highest position on this chart. One of just three acts to have two songs in my top 50! I thought this would've been bit bigger this summer, but it wasn't to be... According to youtube this was released first way back in March 2005 but I didn't know...

048 Gnarls Barkley "Smiley Faces" (UK Chart Position - 10) Say for instance my girlfriend she, bugs me all the time, But the irony of it all is that she loves me all the time...www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-JofJ8nLm4And from the first act with two top 50 entries to the second... The follow-up to the huge selling "Crazy" was a flop in comparison but still did alright. One of the best songs from a pretty good, but not amazing, album.

047 Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly "I Spy" (UK Chart Position - Not top 200) It doesn't matter that this song has a simple tune, even though it's not what I'm supposed to do...www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_i4X07Ea3cI wasn't a huge fan of this when it first came out but I downloaded it when the second single came out and then started to like it more than "Chronicles...". I shall probably have to get the album at some point as "War Of The Worlds" is pretty good too. An extremely talented singer/songwriter!

046 The Gossip "Standing In The Way Of Control" (UK Chart Position - 64) You'll do it all again cos you won't stop trying....www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGRuKbCn09EI thought that this song was going to be a lot bigger than it was but hitting the top 75 was still respectable. Lead singer Beth was this years NME Cool List number one. Extremely powerful voice. Oh and proof if ever you needed it that you don't need amazing looks to sell records. Not that she isn't fabulous

045 Raconteurs "Steady, As She Goes" (UK Chart Position - 04) Settle for a girl and buckle down, send it to the crowd that's gathered round...www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUTSJ8vrnSgI can't say I've ever been a fan of the White Stripes and when I heard Jack White was doing a side project it wasn't something I was overly bothered about. But I heard this song and thought it was excellent right from first listen. It reached number one on my Personal Chart when released but I did go off ir largely in the summer. However, after not hearing ir for a while this has regrown on me recently and finishes 42 places lower than his other band did with "Blue Orchid" last year!

044 Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! "In This Home On Ice" (UK Chart Position - 68) "How now did you see what I did see?", the ravaged cabbage drifts on dark red skies, and it looks so nice, gee it looks so nicewww.youtube.com/watch?v=xGhOvj_5osgThe only entry from one of the most hotly tipped bands for 2006. Unfortunately they never actually bothered to prove why they were hotly tipped and only released the album in January and two singles, of which atleast one was limited edition. Alec's voice certainly isn't one that many people will immediately love but give it time and it certainly can grow, but they're certainly not a band I would be surprised at people not liking. As far as I can tell there isn't a video for it but I included a live performance...
