Whne I start this next year, I was wondering how many albums I should let people choose? Manic thought that 100 was too many and might put people off, I think 50 is too limiting and so am tempted to go for 75. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Casting my eye down the list, I think I noted down 120 albums and 90 for Mel. So 75 would look good after some culling, I dont want to set it too high and put people off, nor set it too low and have too many albums missing out. I can pm you the list of albums to cast your eye down if you like before you let me know your thoughts? This will be starting in 2007, and will probably stay open for 8 months or so, it will include all #1 albums up to the end of 2006.

I don't mind whatever the number is.
Mine's mostly going to be Greatest Hits ones -whereas you mostly know the singles more often than not you will not have heard most of the tracks on any particular album.

Mine will also have g hits in, but there will be other albums in there that I grew up listening to or still have that will score points as well.

I'd say 50... I very much doubt a lot of people have heard 75 or 100 #1 albums to be able to judge.

That was my thought Dandy - the oldies amongst us may scrape together 75 but I think the younger ones may struggle

Off the top of my head, I could probably name a dozen #1 albums that I actually like... I think 50 would be enough.

But surely best to say 75, and if people want to do 50, that is their choice, same way with top 100 #1 singles, some did 80, some 50.

I mamke it 2 votes for 75 and 3 votes for 50, with others not fussed. I suppose whichever way we do it, we can change it the following time, if people dictate that?

You are all going to kick yourself when you have to cull it right down

I think that's the point, there should be a case of having to cull it down. I suspect that 75 would lead to people voting for newer albums that they don't really like but are at least familiar with and thus lead to the horrible prospect of some monstrosity like The Darkness winning...

Nothing wrong with The Darkness, although against the grain I actually prefer their 2nd album!

This is a nice idea but it seems rather unworkable to me... hmm...

This is a nice idea but it seems rather unworkable to me... hmm... In what way? We'll have a list like before, listed either by year or artist, and you choose your faves, and rank em as normal. ;D Yes greatest hits lists will feature prominently, but that cant be helped I guess, we could always take the g hits out of the picture for a 2nd countdown perhaps?

Madonna's immaculate collection is one of my all time fave albums, so that will feature despite being a greatest hits, i love stuff like this so the more charts the better!
