Starting slightly later than most, but I wanted to wait until I'd compiled the last chart of the year... First, some stats: - 332 songs charted during the 52 weeks of 2007, averaging just under 6 new songs per week.
- Of these, 13 don't qualify for Year-End Chart consideration due to being in last year's top 100, and not being re-released during '07. This includes a #1 from 2007 that wasn't #1 during 2006 (Snow Patrol's "Set The Fire To The Third Bar")
- Eight songs achieved platinum status (250 pts) during 2007, with a further 34 getting gold status (160 pts) and 84 getting silver status (80 pts).
- 31 songs got to #1 spot, bringing the all-time total to 236 from 402 weeks.
- The longest time spent at #1 by a single song was 4 weeks, this was achieved by just one song.
- The same song also managed 15 weeks on the chart, more than any other, and amassed the most points, 373.
Right, that's enough stats for now, let's get cracking with the top 200 (in the next post)...

This is really a top 202, since we have a three-way tie for #200 (the lower 2/3rds of the chart is done statistically, although a few wildcards are considered for the top 100, mainly songs coming out late in the year.)
200 - 151 200= You And I Are A Gang Of Losers Dears 200= Leni GoodBooks 200= Hustler Simian Mobile Disco 199 Back When You Were Good Hours 197= Waterloo Sunset Kinks 197= She's So Lovely Scouting For Girls 196 Baby Fratelli Fratellis 195 We'll Live And Die In These Towns Enemy 194 Don't You Wanna Be Relevant Cribs 193 Land Of A Thousand Words Scissor Sisters 192 You Can't Have It All Ash 191 Love Will Tear Us Apart Joy Division
190 Don't Shoot Me Santa Killers 189 Bright Lights Tom McRae 188 Time Of The Season Zombies 187 The Photos On My Wall Good Shoes 186 You Are The One Shiny Toy Guns 185 Go For Blue Pepe Deluxe 184 Ageing Had Never Been His Friend Love Is All 183 Take It Like A Man Dragonettes 182 Whistle For The Choir Fratellis 181 Tarantula Smashing Pumpkins
180 Rootless Tree Damien Rice 179 Four Winds Bright Eyes 178 Lord Don't Slow Me Down Oasis 177 Setting Sun Aliens 176 Stone Is A Bullet Dogs 175 Icky Thump White Stripes 174 Glorious Natalie Imbruglia 173 Jacqueline Coral 172 The Take Over, The Break's Over Fall Out Boy 171 Off The Hook CSS
170 Let's Get Our Hands Dirty We Start Fires 169 Indian Summer Manic Street Preachers 168 You! Me! Dancing! Los Campesinos 167 Never Before Have I Seen A Man Alive Who Looks So Exactly Like A Skeleton Ghost Frequency 166 Teddy Picker Arctic Monkeys 165 Fireworks Animal Collective 164 Mistaken For Strangers National 163 No I In Threesome Interpol 162 I'm A Rat Towers Of London 161 Shooting Star Air Traffic
160 Surrendered Bluetones 159 The Don View 158 Sister Rose Ian Brown 157 Fallen Leaves Billy Talent 156 International Tweexcore Underground Los Campesinos 155 Hot Knives Bright Eyes 154 Lovers Who Uncover Little Ones 153 Christmas Number One Black Arts (Art Brut / Black Box Recorder) 152 Karaoke Plays Maxïmo Park 151 Appropriate Ending Electric Soft Parade
That Ghost Frequency song at #167 hasn't been given a wildcard, because I think it'll be strong enough next year to reach my top 100...

Those Bright Eyes songs were highly underrated, surprised the Manics are so low Air Traffic as well!

Surprised you consider Whistle For The Choir to be eligible. Because it was split over two years it won't get its proper "chart of the year" position but I'll probably state where it would have been. It's the only single within the last two years to spend 6 weeks at NM #1 though. "Baby Fratelli" reached NM #3 and will be in my top 100 of the year.
About Pepe Deluxe, if you read in the book on 1000 hit singles you will find them mentioned under "Inside" by Stiltskin where it labels them as one hit wonders but actually "Before You Leave" never even reached my chart but they had 3 hits in my chart this year, although it was their 2nd one that was by far their biggest...

There's a lot I haven't heard here! Of the ones I know, I like both #197s (though one is old), #196, #159 and #153.

Those Bright Eyes songs were highly underrated, surprised the Manics are so low Air Traffic as well! Some of the Manic songs I found a bit too formulaic; they do have a couple of entries in the top 100, mind. Air Traffic still have a song to come too, and it won't appear for a while -- As for 'Whistle For The Choir', it wasn't disqualified because it failed to make my top 100 last year, and this part of the chart is statistical anyway. One song from 2006 did make it into 2007's top 100, again because it had most of its chart life in 2007.

KingB is back! Hope he'll be interested in mine when I count it down. And as I'm only counting down the top 100 on REP, I might start the rest of the chart now.

150 - 101 150 Fairytale Of New York Pogues & Kirsty Macoll 149 Typical Mute Math 148 Teardrop José González 147 Save Myself Willy Mason 146 Long Road To Ruin Foo Fighters 145 Vital Signs Frank Turner 144 Wanderlust King Gogol Bordello 143 Small Town Girl Good Shoes 142 How Far We've Come Matchbox 20 141 Giddy Stratospheres Long Blondes A few recent songs at in here statistically, having being denied wildcards... only Foo Fighters had reached the top 10 (from those recent songs).
140 Destroy Everything You Touch Ladytron 139 Isis Yeah Yeah Yeahs 138 Whole Wide World Proclaimers 137 Your Love Alone Is Not Enough Manic Street Preachers 136 The Magic Position Patrick Wolf 135 Who Are You James 134 Wide Awake Twang 133 I'm On My Own Vincent Vincent And The Villains 132 Pieces Of The People We Love Rapture 131 A House Is Not A Home Field Music More from Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Procialmers to come...
130 Marble House Knife 129 The Count Of Monte Christo Noisettes 128 An End Has A Start Editors 127 High School Never Ends Bowling For Soup 126 Let's Dance To Joy Division Wombats 125 The Bomb New Young Pony Club 124 Hurricane Athlete 123 Siberia Charlotte Hatherley 122 Extreme Ways Moby 121 Scratch Your Name Noisettes All these songs achieved Silver rating (80+ points) in the chart, mostly peaking between #6 and #12.
120 Our Bovine Public Cribs 119 Sister Rosetta (Capture The Spirit) Noisettes 118 Mammoth Interpol 117 Heinrich Maneuver Interpol 116 The Wrath Of Marcie Go! Team 115 Motorcycle Rumble Strips 114 We Danced Together Rakes 113 If That's The Case Then I Don't Know Electric Soft Parade 112 Turn On Me Shins 111 Ali In The Jungle Hours From this group, the songs are ordered by merit, not statistically. Interpol fail to reach the top 100. The Go! Team song would probably be higher if I compiled this a few weeks ago, but I've started to get a bit tired of it recently.
110 Hey There Delilah Plain White T's 109 Australia Shins 108 Tears For Affairs Camera Obscura 107 Painted By Numbers Sounds 106 You're Not Alone Enemy 105 Grace Kelly Mika 104 3's And 7's Queens Of The Stone Age 103 Matador Arctic Monkeys 102 Misunderstanding Electric Soft Parade 101 Ole Black 'N' Blue Eyes Fratellis These songs just not quite having what it takes to reach the top 100. This set includes a FragChart #1 - Mika in January with 'Grace Kelly'.

Some good stuff in there, several of those in my top 100 of the year. Nice to see you chart Gogol Bordello, with all the promotion I've been giving them on here.
High School Never Ends was a #1 in my chart. Really funny lyrics, I think. Actually just what I felt...
Also good to see you chart Field Music and Vincent Vincent & The Villans (both in my top 100). There are a few in there I have in different years, Extreme Ways I have as 2002 I think.

Yeah, I'll definitely look out for Gogol Bordello. It's the combination of being mental and Scottish... don't they have a song called "Start Wearing Purple"? Maybe I'll see what you mean in a few years Only reached #2 for me Extreme Ways was indeed also released in 2002 - it reached #94 in my year-end chart, the only time Moby have done so (the chart started too late for the 'Play' material. I remember liking the James bond Theme a lot when it was out) I'm a little busy at the moment, but might post some more songs tonight, or if not, then tomorrow.

Gogol Bordello are not Scottish, they are originally from Romania and are Gypsies but now live in the USA. And yes they have a song called Start Wearing Purple, and perhaps not surprisingly it reached NM #1. And was actually the first song of theirs I heard.
I didn't like Moby at all until Porcelain, that was hit first NM hit and reached #3. He recently had a hit single with Debbie Harry called New York New York (not the Frank Sinatra song).
I hope you will check out the links to the songs in my chart of the year because you'll see how much good music there is about.

I reckon the best way to catch up with what's going on in music, at least on the indie/rock side of things, at the moment is to listen to (as far as possible) every track here. I've been away for a while, but to give you something from the past year from my point of view, here are 10 songs on MySpace or YouTube that I've enjoyed. This is my only Year-end 'chart' I'm going to do, and the songs are in no particular order. Note that my favourites tend to be more poppy and punky than Frag's: TAT - 'Peace, Sex and Tea' ( Link) The Unlovables - 'Everything's Overrated' ( Link) Ozma - 'Lunchbreak' ( Link) Les Fatals Picards - 'L'amour a la Francaise' ( Link) Maggie Holland - 'Locks, Bolts & Hinges' ( Link) Groove Coverage - '21st Century Digital Girl' ( Link) Robb Johnson - 'Anarchy In Hackney' ( Link) Ali Love - 'K-Hole' ( Link) The Go-Sheilas - 'I Can Make It' ( Link) The Go-Sheilas - 'True' ( Link)

Into the top 100 we plod... numbers after the songs show their weeks on chart, and peak position. 100 Show Your Hand Super Furry Animals 7, #6 ( Video) 99 Waiting Game Cooper Temple Clause 6, #5 ( Video) 98 Love Made Visible Delays 6, #5 ( Video) 97 These Bones Dashboard Confessional 4, #9 ( Song) 96 Open Your Window Reverend And The Makers 6, #2 ( Video) 95 Method Acting Kubichek! 6, #3 ( Video) 94 Signal Fire Snow Patrol 5, #7 ( Video) 93 Bitter End Nine Black Alps 8, #8 ( Video) 92 Hold On KT Tunstall 7, #7 ( Video) 91 Passchendaele GoodBooks 8, #7 ( Video) More to come from many of these artists, especially Snow Patrol and Kubichek! Wasn't 'Show Your Hand' in a similar position in MrH's YEC? Edit: Super Furry Animals were #101 in MrH's rundown, but with a different song. Edit 2: Video links added - I'm making a playlist of them all on YouTube, will link to it when it's done
