James were ok...i seen them live at V2000 and they made a huge thing of missing Sit Down out of their set as a statement sayin this isnt our only song...So i was a bit disapointed cos that songs awsome...i remember they were setting up the stage and putting up huge letters saying JAMES in the background but got confused and started spelling it backwards lol, they got to SEM and thought somethings not right lol and had to take it down and start again

i'm glad they left "sit down" out in a way... well i'd have been peeved if i'd have been there; it's an awesome song... but it was good of them to remind people that they do other stuff as well mind you, omitting "destiny calling" (the only james song better than "sit down") would have been unforgiveable

Just seen this thread and wondered if anyone has the live dvd that came out a couple of years ago. I got it for Xmas 2004 and its ace. The live version of Sit Down just has to be seen to be believed!

been thinking of getting one of their proper albums but i wouldn't know where to start... i'm quite convinced that i don't want to get "gold mother" first though.

Ok - Life long James fan checking in here (though I don't listen much these days...) Seen them 4 times. Twice in Seattle (Seven and Laid Tours) and once at Guilfest and then their last ever show at Wembley. Someone please recommend some of their songs for me please?I'd recommend one of their best of compilations. There are 3 now I think - if you have the money get the one Best of with double CD of Live songs (they are great live). shame his solo stuff flopped so badly. Tim Booth had 2 solo albums. The second (quite recent one called 'Bone') is quite bad, and saw him with that material at Glasto and was quite bad. His first solo is quite good though as he did it with Angelo Badalamenti (Twin Peaks etc). I'd recommend that... been thinking of getting one of their proper albums but i wouldn't know where to startTough call actually as their very first stuff is very different than their recent stuff. They started as a quacky folk/indie band and ended big band Indie (uh... like U2 or something). Their breakthrough album was Goldmother so good place to start, but I'd recommend going to the beginning just a b-side? but it's fabulous! While slightly taking the p1ss by releasing 3 of each single with different b-sides and remixes, James did have good b-sides. Probably 5 of my top 20 tunes are b-sides. One that comes to mind is "I Defeat", which is a duet with Sinead O'Connor. Am happy to answer any more about them. Here's the list of what I have on CD. I also have the very rare 'One Man Clapping' LP on Vinyl (and Mp3) so this list is a good start on a James collection. Keep in mind that I was in the US when I collected most of this costing me A TON of money to import all these singles (sick I know).
