Disn't they have another hit besides Drive and My Best Friend's Girl? Can't be bothered to look it up right now. you kidding? The Cars had a TON of hits from 1978-1987. Hell, their 1985 GH cd even omits several real hits (It's All I Can Do, Hello Again) because you couldn't fit them all on one vinyl record.

In the UK, My Best Friend's Girl reached #3 in 1978 and Drive charted twice, reaching #5 in 1984 and #4 in 1985, the latter time after it was used in a video showing pictures of starving people in Ethiopia during Live Aid. The band agreed to donate all further proceeds to the charity.
Just What I Needed went top 20 in 1979 but I don't think any of their other singles did particularly well over here.

wow, surprising they didn't do a lot better over there. In the US, they also had Shake It Up, You Might Think (this won the first VMA in 1984), Let's Go, Magic, Tonight She Comes, You Are The Girl and a number of others. Definately one of my faves of the genre/era

From memory You Might Think and Heartbeat City got a fair amount of airplay without being sizeable hits.

You Might Think got to #7 in the US, definately a hit
