First it was the Poptastic site which had all the old charts listed on the site until it had to be taken down for copyright reasons. The Bee Gees are back, How To Fall In Love Part 1 goes straight in at #30
They celebrated 100 million record sales on TOTP a couple of weeks ago. They made their debut chart appearance 27 years ago (1967) and this is their 26th hit in the UK all told.

Taylor Gayne! lol gets a new entry at this week's #29 She had 2 hits in 1988, Tell It To My Heart and Prove Your Love. But she had to wait until last year for her 3rd with Can't Get Enough Of Your Love. Now she's back with I'll Wait at #29. This was one of the songs I taped from the chart at the time It should have climbed into the Top 20 at least imo, instead it went down the following week Maybe I should have bought it rather than taped it

Kate Bush with a new entry at #28 (The Red Shoes)
The 3rd hit from the album "The Red Shoes" and her 22nd in total. Tomorrow sees the release of a 10 minute long dance version of that track (probably the main reason why it climbed to #21 next week I imagine).

A new entry at 25 for Francis Ruffelle with Lonely Symphony. 100k people voted for that song to represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest. Had they all really liked it that much and actually bought the record it would now be at No 1 (umm bit of a hint there as to how much the No 1 sold this week? To be fair Eurovision wasn't for a few weeks and I doubt most ppl knew the song was even out yet although #25 was its peak position!

Here's something completely different and a new entry for Daniel O'Donnell, Singing the Blues at #23
That track made chart history back in 1957 when it topped the charts first for Guy Mitchell, then for Tommy Steele and then again for Guy Mitchell.

Here's a new entry for Loveland vs Darlene Lewis, Let the Music Lift You Up straight in at #16
Toni Braxton climbs 10 with Another Sad Love Song now at #15 (This was 5 minutes long!)
The Pet Shop Boys get a new entry at #14, Liberation
They've had 22 consecutive Top 40 hits to date and on target to overtake the current record of hits by a duo held by The Everley Brothers which stands at 28.
(Incidentally this was this week's highest new entry. By this stage it was rare not to have a new entry in the Top 10.)

Seems like we've all copied down the chart at some point The net's been a great place over the years being able to track down and copy the Top 40. First it was the Poptastic site which had all the old charts listed on the site until it had to be taken down for copyright reasons. That was in 1999/2000, and now we have Kingofskiffle who's posted them all on UKMix. I feel a bit responsible for the fantastic Poptastic site getting into trouble... I remember coming across the site and all the charts and for weeks copying and pasting them all. I then put a link to the site on dotmusic, in the Chart Forum. 3 weeks later the owner received a letter telling him to take all the charts down. Now it could have been co-incidence, but as Dot was regularly monitored by CIN / OCC, I somehow doubt it...

Oh dear by this stage I was starting to miss the girl I really liked at school, who was my best friend. As a result quite a few of the songs coming up reminded me of her so I'll put them together and quickly move on Down 4 to 13 Mariah Carey - Without You And on TOTP last week, as you may have seen ( I do seem to remember this vaguely) Bitty McLean climbing 7 to #12 with Dedicated To The One I Love Salt N Pepa and En Vogue are down 1 to 11 (Whatta Man) D-Ream falls 4 places, Ur The Best Thing now at #10 - Its weird I still prefer this 94 remix, but its only the 93 original that I ever hear nowadays And climbing 3 this week Haddaway at #9, Rock My Heart And down 1 place this week goes Madonna to this new position #8

Oh really, that probably explains it, for ages he'd been putting them up on his site and then suddenly I noticed they'd been taken down. It came as a complete surprise, its a shame the site's no longer up. The only thing that still exists is the Popsearch facility which is great for those chart runs! I actually emailed him for Top 40 shows once and he said he had some from summer of 1991 but I think he was a bit wary of sending any to me. He started going back 15 years rather 10 years for his commentaries but then stopped because his opinions had changed. I think it was more of a time issue, it became more difficuklt to keep it updated I think.
