Just dug out my old tape box from the loft, and found a few tape albums that I'm going to listen to in the car on the way to work. The first is Mansun - Attack of the grey lantern. I remember really liking this album, and it still sounds good today! I may do a mini review of each track if I get the time, or at least rate them out of 10. ;D

I bought this album but never quite got into it, despite loving the singles 'Stripper Vicar' and 'She Makes My Nosebleed'

Stripper Vicar and Egg shaped Fred are indeed great highlights, a few other tracks are weird enough for me to like them, and a few misses as well.

You are right, and it was then knocked off itself by Spice climbing back to number 1

Attack Of The Grey Lantern is a fab album! My favourites are: Wide Open Space She Makes My Nose Bleed Stripper Vicar Egg Shaped Fred and The Chad Who Loved Me is a great opener to the album! After that, I kind of lost a bit of interest them, but Being A Girl and I Can Only Disappoint U are also very good singles. I'm having a listen to it now to get myself re-acquainted with it, as its been an absolute AGE since I have given the CD a whirl.

I think they would have been better if the second album had been stronger. Also they appeared towards the end of Britpop and probably got caught up in its decline.

The chad who loved me is ace as well, top spot. I loved the fact that each single was EP, with no clear lead single, didn't they also do Take it easy chicken that sadly was not on the album

I have most of the first e.p's in some shape of format? I'm sure as with the Elastica 7 inches, and Gene CD singles, they may have dropped in value over the years.

I thought it was an alright album at the time, and it had some great singles on it. But I think they went a bit weird when they put their 2nd album Six out, it was very difficult to listen to.
