On and off for months now, I've been trying to get into them, but find it hard to. Where's the best place to start? I have two of their albums (World Without Dave & Worry Bomb) on my PC which I still haven't listened to. Do they have some sort of compilation out or not? Does anyone have any idea if any of the other members are/were in any other bands?

JimBob went on to do Jim's Super Stereo World and is now going solo.
Fruitbat now has a band called Abdoujaparov.
Earl P is the one to ask about the music...

Thanks. I know Earl P is the best person to ask about them, but I'd thought I'd ask on here first before talking to him...

well there best 2 albums are '101 Damnations'& '30 Something' althought '1992 The Love Album' has most of their big hits I cant find a compilation problem is there hits are split between an indie & a major label, I dont think there is one definitive compilation that has both on 1 disc gawd if there was id buy it myself hehe

It's funny you say that because Worry Bomb was voted as their best album by fans on the site.
Did you even buy "I Blame The Government"?
They had a singles compilation called "Straw Donkey - The Singles". I wouldn't really bother with it though. In fact they never had an NM #1 single but did have 4 #1 albums, 3 of them being album of the year.

Why shouldn't I bother with that compilation you mentioned, Neil? Anyone mind making me one then?

I would say that 1992 (The Love Album) is probably the best place to start, it was the first of their albums I got and I loved it.

'Falling On A Bruise' was 30 something yeh?
and yeh 1992 The Love album is deffo the most accessible.
and 'Worry Bom' well that was the point where I stop liking them, their singles were terrible and I never really heard anything by the since.
Basically my student days soundtrack was the 1st 2 albums and that's why I like them most guess its all about where you enter.
And wots wrong with 'Straw Donkey'
1. A Sheltered Life 2. Sheriff Fatman 3. Rubbish 4. Anytime Anyplace Anywhere 5. Bloodsport For All 6. After The Watershed (Early Learning The Hard Way) 7. The Only Living Boy In New Cross 8. Do Re Me (So Far So Good) 9. The Impossible Dream 10. Lean On Me (IWon't Fall Over) 11. Lenny And Terrence 12. Glam Rock Cops 13. Let's Get Tattoos 14. The Young Offender's Mum 15. Born On The 5th Of November
you cant knock that list

With 'Worry Bomb' I got sent a song from the album called 'Cheap and Cheesy' (recently rediscovered last week) and got told something like the album's good, but you have to listen to the full album in order to enjoy it. I think it's best if I get a comilation by them then decide where to go from there - I always do this...

Did you only hear the singles off Worry Bomb? Let's Get Tattoos was ok. Young Pretenders Mum only got to NM #13 and I wasn't going to buy the album, but then decided to buy it anyway. There are much better songs on the album than that one! But it's not as dire as "Lenny & Terence".

A friend of mine is their best fan. We went to see Jim Bob last year solo and it was very good. He has a solo album now too (is ok..) Anyways! He has ~20 CDs/Singles and I have them all ripped. Let me know if you are still having trouble finding anything
