This should probably be in the Retro forum. Feel free to move it if you think it should be...
Anyway, is it just me or does the beginning sound like the intro to a Hunters & Collectors song? Holy Grail, I think it is?

think youve lost everyone here, I barely remember what Ultrasound sounded like and as for Hunters & Collectors I know they were a big Aussie band but never heard them.

"I'll Show You Mine" was NM #1 just before dotmusic forums opened, and they were the first band I was promoting there.
I remember setting a topic about them, then updating it with constant countdowns to the release of the "Everything Picture" album.
At the time I really did believe they had the potential to be the new Oasis. It was about 10 months though between the release of "Stay Young" until the "Everything Picture" album, and "I'll Show You Mine" wasn't even on it.
They were a very popular band and sold out LA2 where I saw them live, but there were flaws - the album was released on 2CDs but had a certain amount of "fill" - not weak tracks as such but just noise that went on for several minutes and the usual big silence before a "hidden" track, and certainly they could have used that space to put in "I'll Show You Mine", and instead of having "Best Wishes" as the hidden track, and then not the full version, they could have simply made it one of the main tracks.
They split in the summer of 1999 and pulled out of all the festivals.

Did they release anythign else other than 'Everything Picture'? That was their only album... Richard Green, who wrote most of the music went on to form the Somatics with his missus. Matt Jones, the keyboard player, formed Minuteman. There were reports that Tiny was planning to start a new Ultrasound but that was a few years ago and I never heard anything else since then. I think he changed his name to Ann Widdecombe and took up politics. Don't know what Vanessa Best is doing now. She was the bass player. She also had a pretty good voice but was somewhat underused, which I think may have been one of the factors in the split.
