Hmm, that's not my favourite track on the album. I thought Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine would be a dead cert for a single. Oh well...

have to agree- Smile like you mean is far too generic for a single I think. Jenny should have been next single.
I saw them at the NME tour and it was probably their most popular song...

i really like "smile like you mean it" actually... although agreed that "jenny was a friend of mine" is a better song, and would make a better single in terms of popularity. mind you, if you ever think the "jenny" bassline sounds familiar... listen to "barbarism begins at home" by the smiths

Jenny would've been a great single.
I still love On Top though.

I still love On Top though. oh good! i thought i was the only person who liked that ;D it's one of those songs i feel guilty about liking because i honestly can't see what's so great about it apart from the false stop, maybe...

Smile was my favourite non-single, so I'm glad it's being released.

"Smile Like You Mean It", being the third single in USA (after "Somebody Told Me" and "Mr. Brightside") was going to be for sure the fourth single here.
I think it's a great chance to show their potential, the other chances, as everyone mentioned, were "Indie Rock And Roll" and "Jenny Was a Friend Of Mine"... but maybe this track is more radio friendly for the masses, don't you think?

Just heard it for the first time on Thorney's radio show and it sounds good, sure it will be a grower, not as obviously catchy, and at the end of the day, they just wanna sell more albums, if they can;)
