From NME.com:
OASIS have finally completed their new album ‘DON’T BELIEVE THE TRUTH’ – and their first single will be called ‘LYLA’, NME.COM can exclusively reveal.
It’s been the longest build up to a record since their unsigned days before ’Definitely Maybe’, but after scrapping over 50 songs, Oasis have finished their sixth studio album.
The band have told NME.COM that ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’, will be released on May 30, and despite the delays the trademark Oasis swagger is back with a vengeance.
“I’m happy with every track on the album,” Noel Gallagher told NME.COM, adding that the album will be proceeded single ‘Lyla’ on May 16.
"It's The Who,” added Noel. “’Lyla’ was specifically designed for pogoing.”<br>

"It's The Who,” added Noel. At least it's not the Beatles...again...

There once was a time I'd have been over the moon to read this, now I'm just not interested in them at all.

They ceased to be relevant after Be Here Now was released.

I love people who 'like' Oasis when its cool to like them, and now its 'cool' to dislike them, they hate them.

They remain the most important band this country has produced in the last 20 odd years.I would have to argue that it is Radiohead and not Oasis. I never liked Oasis very much, which is odd as I used to primarily like Madchester and all the brit pop groups of the time, just not Oasis... When I lived in the US when people asked who I liked I would always say groups like Oasis, just not Oasis. Anyways, just saying that I never liked them much and sticking to my guns

They shaped it nicely, and allowed bands like Coldplay, Stereophonics, Ocean Colour Scene, Travis et al, to become prominent and heard. Radiohead would not of had the same level of recognition and popularity of today if it not for Oasis arrival.

Rock music tends to come in cycles anyway, usually at the mid point of a decade (look at it's revival now for instance) and lasts for a few years before it's all back to pop and (more recently) dance etc. Radiohead most certainly do not owe anything to Oasis at all! They are not even vaguely similar. Radiohead continue to make inventive music while Oasis peddle out the same things album after album. Plus I dispute your comments about people deserting Oasis when it's no longer cool to like them. It's got nothing to do with that - they're just not as good as they were on their first album. Simple as.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against Radiohead at all.
I just dislike the middle class, pompous, student following they have. 85% of Radiohead fans (not you Dandy) have no idea what the hell the message they're trying to convey is!

I am of course looking forward to it. I agree that the last 2 albums weren't very good but when a band was as good as Oasis was I just can't not be excited whenever new release news comes out. Who knows. This could be another Morning Glory caliber album for all we know. *fingers crossed that it will be*

Coldplay, Travis and Radiohead would all have made it if Oasis never existed. Oasis certainly wouldn't have had the impact they had were it not for them having Blur around as a "rival" too.

Yeah, I do think it's true. Coldplay, Travis and Radiohead would all have made it if Oasis never existed. No, no. Please understand me mate. I'm not saying Travis, Coldplay blah blah blah would not have made without Oasis, I'm saying they wouldnt have had the success they do if if was not for Oasis opening the door to allow 'indie', 'alternative' music to shine. That I agree with you 100% mate.

Nah, I still think you're wrong. It's artists such as Blur & Suede that started getting indie music back into the charts in about 1992/1993.
