Right - other bands to discuss! Here are some of my recent favorite bands that there's not been any discussion on, so I thought I'd lump them into one thread
Low - 3 albums and their most recent 'Great Destroyer' is their most accessible. Very good music and recommend to any Indie lover.
LCD Soundsystem - First album just out and it's a bit wacky - though they are doing well. Recommended, but have a listen before buying as may not suit all...
Ambulance Ltd. - Coming out in next month in UK. Had this for months now as bought in the US. Great Brit Pop, albeit from the US. Saw them live opening for The Dears and weren't that great, but their album is!
The Dears - Canadian Indie Rockers been around long time (10 yrs?). Recent album is 'No Cities Left' and is good. Still getting through older albums... He has a very distintive voice, almost like morissey. Listen before buying, but it's good!
Death Cab for Cutie/Postal Service/Dntel - Ben Gibbard sings for the Seattle Indie Rockers DCFC. He joined up with electronica master Dntel to make The Postal Service. The Postal Service are GREAT. If you don't have them, get them now!! I order you!! I like all three bands acutally, but Postal Service are special.
South - 'From Here On In' out a couple years ago passed by without anyone knowing about it. Get it, it's great! Their recent album 'With the Tides' you can pass on...
Soulwax - The guys behind 2 Many DJ's. 'Much Against Everyone's Advice' out a few years ago is very, very good. Recent album 'Any Minute Now' is pretty good too. If you can see them live, do it! They are great!
Wheat - US Soft Indie band. 'Hope and Adams' out a few years ago is a must for all Indie fans. If you like that then get their others...
Longview - Out in 2003 'Mercury' I just got and is very good. It was just released again with bonus CD for less than I paid (argh!) - so get that and send me a copy
I have (much) more but will stop there to see what it starts...
