Dance music buoyed by downloads Source: Music Week
Dance music is benefiting the most from the increase in singles sales, helped by the booming download market. According to BPI figures released today, dance singles - including downloads - are up 50.1% for the first three quarters of 2006, against an overall singles market increase of over 45%. For the 12 months ended September 2006, dance's share of compilation albums stood at 26% - up from 20% a year ago. This is dance music’s highest share since 2002. And dance compilations are up 14.6%, against an overall compilations market decline of 12.2%.

Doesn't surprise me with Booty Luv and Rogue Traders entering inside the Top 20 on downloads in the last 6 months. It should get even better next year

I would have to agree. When Jody Watley released her single "Looking For a New Love 2005", it peak at #1 on i-Tunes and stay there for a while. Other artists such as Amber have had huge successful sales by including their songs on i-Tunes. This is a good thing because some songs are either expensive or difficult to find otherwise. Thanks.
