Still hoping it'll be Chester or Barnet to go down with Luton!

Grimsby and Bournemouth need to win their games in hand to go above Chester, Barnet seemed to have found form, which may save them, think Grimsby have been woeful recently? They beat wycombe and rotheram back to back in january, and since then, have drawn 3 and lost 6! Chester are even worse, not won in 2009, drawn 4 and lost 9! Luton have won 2, drawn 6 and lost 3, need to turn those draws into wins and they could catch them up! Luton have Grimsby and Barnet to play... Bournemouth have won 5, drawn 2 and lost 3, so they look safe on that form!

Did Chester not go on an apalling run last season after a fairly decent start?

Yep they did, after Christmas I think, but they pulled it around at the end!

I don't think they did pull it around, they finished the season with three 0-0 draws and failed to win any of their last seven and only 2 of their last 26 games! Unfortunately they'd done enough near the start of the season to survive and the teams below them just didn't quite do enough to pass them!

Chester visited us in November 2007 with them 2nd and an away record of won 6 drew 1 lost 0 and we had an appalling home record and were stuck in the bottom 4 I think.
We beat them 2-1 which was the turning point in both of our seasons. We then beat them in the FA Cup 1-0.
Chester managed a 0-0 draw at our ground this season after playing very defensively and we couldn't break them down.

So Luton would be kicked down to below Conference South? That would be the death of them! I assume that means that only 3 would be relegated from the Conference then? Hopefully they will show they are financially ok by the end of the summer? Do you have a link to the thread about it Tom? Only just seen this.. Yea sure, here's the link below. hobnob.royals.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=77647&st=0&sk=t&sd=aAnd Darlo's ground is over 25k capacity? Thats more than the MadStad which is utterly crazy!

As for Darlington, if they want to fill or at least half-fill their stadium perhaps they should do what we did and offer cheap season tickets. Doesn't matter how cheap the season tickets are, there simply isn't enough support for Darlington. They've always been a small club with a small fanbase. A club that's only spent 2 seasons higher than League One is never going to consistantly half-fill a 25,000 capacity stadium, regardless of ticket prices.

They've been a top-flight club in the past and have played in an FA Cup final. The Withdean only holds about 8,000 anyway. It has a decent-sized population and no neighbouring league clubs close by.

It's difficult to get a ticket on the day at the moment so very few people try. The number of tickets available for away supporters is in the hundreds - even for teams like Leeds or Leicester.

If we do get to play Brighton away next season midweek (we may or may not be in the same division, and we might possibly by-pass them) then I will beware of this - I will want to go although an away game at a place like Brighton is not likely to get many travelling supporters from us.

Was also going to mention that Brighton have potential... Coppell actually said they have more potential than Reading. Its fair to say that comment brought a fair amount of surprise from our fans!

Isn't it odd that Luton's downfall has coincided with a new team being set up at nearby Milton Keynes?

If you think Milton Keynes is that close to Luton and if they'd take support away. MK Dons are closer to Northampton really, I would call that a derby game. Northampton seem to have done well enough for a club their size in the last few years, and Luton did quite well during the years Watford were in the top division in the 1980s. There is about 20 miles maybe between Luton and Watford.
For Bradford City, another away defeat, this time at Exeter and if we'd only won one of these we'd be up there on 61 with the others but now we're outside even of the playoff places.
If we were in winning form I would say we could catch these teams, but we're dropping points like the rest of them.

Shrewsbury confuse me. 14 home wins (more than anyone else), and only 1 away win (fewer than anyone else!) - eleven away draws

Shrewsbury have spent a LOT of money this season, if they dont make the playoffs, I think heads will roll.
