Just! Having led 3-0 at half-time, England drew 3-3 with hosts Sweden before winning 5-4 on penalties.
On the downside, 3 England players are suspended for the final: Joe Hart and Gabriel Agbonlahor, who picked up their second yellows of the tournament, and Fraizer Campbell who was sent off in extra-time.
England will play either Italy or Germany in Monday's final.

Yeah I was following it on the text, at 3-0 up, the commentators started talking about the final, we then blew up and let them back into it, really lucky they didn't get a 4th and win it, great to win on pens, shame to lsoe those 3 players, although Campbell was a moron with his, so doesn't deserve to be in it. Anyone know where I can see the highlights?

It's Psycho's doing!
He's said over the past two years they've done a hell of a lot of penalty practice and he's created a database type thing of their accuracy, which way they go etc. Before the tournament started he ranked his squad 1-23 in terms of how good they were at taking penalties. I didn't see Milner's as I started watching after his but our other 5 were all great penalties, especially Joe Hart's, there was a damn good reason why he was number 2! I hope Capello will try and do something similar...
I'm not sure what strength team the Germans played against us but our 'reserves' won so I'm hoping we can triumph!

I can't believe Joe Hart took England's 2nd penalty in the shoot-out! (and scored!) That's what happens when you join Blues! Meanwhile, yet again a Villa player misses a penalty for his country...see Southgate, Vassel and Mellberg for other examples.

Neither can I! Not only that it was the best penalty of the lot! His booking was stupid as well imo. He only has himself to blame as he was trying to wind up the Sweden players before they took the pens and was warned about it first, completely avoidable yellow. It's Psycho's doing! He's said over the past two years they've done a hell of a lot of penalty practice and he's created a database type thing of their accuracy, which way they go etc. Before the tournament started he ranked his squad 1-23 in terms of how good they were at taking penalties. Milner slipped when he took his penalty, a la Beckham in Turkey wasnt it? The commentators seemed to suggest it was down to nerves that he missed but i just thought it was bad luck. Didnt we draw with the Germans with our reserves? As Andy said, thought we were lucky last night with Sweden hitting the bar in extra-time and then the post in the shootout - even if i was watching without really being that bothered tbh, seemed rather strange watching footie when Wimbledon is the sporting event at this time of year for me.

Yes, England's 2nd string drew 1-1 with Germany. England had already qualified for the semis and Germany just needed a point.
Walcott is reportedly doubtful for the final due to injury, so there could be a big selection problem for Pearce regarding the forwards. Adam Johnson got man of the match in the first game against Germany so he could come into the starting line-up but whether it'll be on the wing or up front remains to be seen...
Assuming Joe Hart's appeal against his yellow card is unsuccessful, Joe Lewis will probably replace him in goal.

England 1-0 down at half-time in the final.
Scott Loach got the nod over Joe Lewis in goal. Adam Johnson for Agbonlahor is the only other change from the XI that started against Sweden.

Disappointing to lost by quite so many. Not overly surprising to lose though. Poor decision by Pearce to take only two strikers in a squad of 23, complete madness really.
I'm glad the Villa trio of Gardner, Agbonlahor and Milner are no longer eligible, same with Crainie and Onouha. I think we have better players like Rodwell, Delph, Wilshire and Naughton. Shame Muamba is still young enough for the next tournament, I don't rate him at all!

Only 2 strikers and both suspended? No wonder started with a 4-6-0 formation (and then changed to 3-7-0...).
Abysmal performance, Germany clearly deserved to win.
Nice to see you mention Wilshere, Mark, he's only 17 so even if he doesn't shine in the next tournament, he'll be eligible for U21 Euro 2013...

Scott Loach played for Bradford City for much of the 2007-2008 season on loan
I wasn't watching the football, I was watching Andy Murray's epic instead.

sounded like loach had a nightmare, he got lobbed, megged and punched one in his own net.
walcott had a shocking tournament, his shooting is abysmal, i lost count of how many times he tried a 20-30 yard shot that just trickled straight down the middle of the goal into the keepers hands and his decision making is even worse, going for it himself and loosing the ball one way or another when a pass is on. for a big name player he has not stood up to be counted in any game. our worst player by far

Getting to the final was a good effort but we were left a bit thin on the ground with the suspensions and pre-tournament injuries.
2 of the original squad of 23 had to withdraw (Welbeck and Steven Taylor) and Lennon, Wheater, Huddlestone, Ebanks-Blake, Derbyshire and O'Hara had already been ruled out.

Same here, sounded like we missed the suspended players, in particular Hart who i always felt would be a big loss. Replacing him with an inexperienced unknown (to me at least) was always going to be a concern. It seems he plays for Watford and having checked he was the goalie who played against us in the televised home game last season, so im not surprised he had a bad game. He didnt have a lot to do in that game but i can't recall a single save he made and he conceded 4 goals..

Reading the paper this morning i found it rather funny Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is ready to bid £6million for keeper Scott Loach. We are Spurs, he is young and English, so we must spend stupid amounts of money on him even though he is crap
