It's a HARD one, that's for sure. She is a fantastic lyricist, and even though she probably wrote very little (if any) of them I think we need to APPLAUD LaToya for being an incredible interpreter of such GENIUS.
My vote goes for the spoken section of 'Sex Box':
You know there's more to me than my body
That's right, I've got a mind too!
And what about my soul?
I always imagine her singing those lines whilst naked, staked out on some blue velvet, allowing a diamond python to slither all over her body.
I ALSO very much enjoy the lyrics to 'Just Wanna Dance'.
all women hate me cos they want to be me
shaking my ass, with lots of class that's right
but they don't know if I'm a he or she
... seeing if I can't get with a girl or a man tonight
Apart from the COMPLEX and attractive rhyme scheme of 'ass' and 'class', I admire LaToya's integrity with these lyrics. She's aware that women everywhere are jealous of her looks, career and talent, but she's at peace with that instead of being bitter. What's more, she has class. Unlike skanks like Britney who take off their clothes to get publicity when their careers are failing, LaToya shows us how it should be done - revitalise a career with a THUMPING Eurotrash anthem! As for the 'he or she' and 'with a girl' comments, it's OBVIOUS that LaToya is advocating her acceptance of people who society often rejects. Her overt lesbian sanctioning makes me PROUD to know a handful of dykes.
LaToya, I salute you and your LYRICAL prowess. May that diamond python slither in a CLASSY manner forever.
;D
