Scunthorpe 0-2 Boro
Same team that beat Swansea on Saturday. Adam Johnson with both goals. That's 3 for the season. Still unbeaten and still no goals conceded.
The 2nd goal was rather unusual. Boro were awarded a penalty when Williams was brought down in the box. Johnson took the penalty, which was saved by the keeper who then brought down Johnson as he was going for the rebound so Boro were awarded another penalty! Johnson made no mistake second time...

That can't happen too often!! The penalty or Boro winning 2 away games in a row?

Robert Huth is reportedly having a medical at Stoke with Tuncay possibly following... That's our promotion hopes f****d, as well as our attempt to keep 46 clean sheets in the league...

Both have gone!
Seen you linked with a move for Earnshaw for £4.5m. Great player at this level but you can have him for that...

Southgate's said he will bring a striker in (I'm hoping he means in addition to Danny "5 Goals A Season" Webber, who we're supposed to be signing on a free) but £4.5m for Earnshaw is a ridiculous price...

good deal for stoke, they continue to pick up good players on the cheap. just hope boro don't spend 10 million on earnshaw and hulse Southgate will only be allowed to spend a fraction of the money. I suspected we'd be forced to sell again, even after we sold Downing, and that's how it's turned out. Even though at the end of last season I expected both to leave, it's still annoying that they've gone (especially Huth, partly because of the timing and the great start to the season and partly because they've gone to Stoke. (no disrespect meant to Stoke but when your best players leave, you expect them to go to big clubs). Earnshaw I'm indifferent about. If we get him, fine, as long as we don't pay too much for him. I'd like us to sign Hulse, as I've previously mentioned, but it's rumoured that he turned us down earlier this month. Southgate says he won't be signing a replacement for Huth as he's confident Pogatetz and Riggott can fill the gap at this level. Boro also turned down a bid from Everton for David Wheater, believed to be between 6 and 10 million.

Worrying comments from Southgate after today's game:
"We came here for a result ahead of the transfer deadline, which could see players leaving.
"I've lost Robert Huth and Tuncay to Stoke City and more could be going, and it doesn't look as if I'll have money to spend."

Thoughts on the season so far...
The Championship is a very weak division. Much weaker than I thought it would be. That said, Boro still aren't one of the top 3 teams in it (yes, we're 3rd at the moment but that'll change). We've been beating the teams we should be beating and beating them pretty comfortably but we've struggled against anyone who might have the slightest chance of getting promoted.
Our current position is a false one as we've had a fairly easy start to the season and whilst I don't expect us to drop too far down the table, I think there's little chance of automatic promotion this season and it'll have to be the playoffs.
Sean St. Ledger should be a decent signing despite the fact he made his debut in a 5-0 defeat. I'm not so sure about Caleb Folan. He could be Marlon King II.
Results so far: Sheffield Utd (H) D 0-0 Swansea (A) W 3-0 (A Johnson, Emnes, Tuncay) Scunthorpe (A) W 2-0 (A Johnson 2) Doncaster (H) W 2-0 (Tuncay, Lita) Bristol City (A) L 1-2 (A Johnson) Ipswich (H) W 3-1 (O'Neil, Aliadiere 2) Sheff Wed (A) W 3-1 (Purse og, Aliadiere, A Johnson) West Brom (H) L 0-5
And one more thing: In our first 7 games, we managed to score half the amount of goals we did in the whole of last season.

Kitson joins on loan for 2 months, very interesting!
Last season he said he refused to join any Championship side on loan unless it was us, which shows how things have changed.
And being reunited with Lita as well! The player he completely fell out with to the extent that he refused to play with him in the 2nd half of our Prem relegation season leading to Lita going on loan. Lita was actually frozen out i think at the time when Kitson returned to Reading last season, so this will be the first chance to conceivably play with him since then.
Used to like Kitson but now im not so sure. I was pleased when he scored for Stoke earlier in the season, particularly after hearing about his problems there both on and off the pitch, but his ego, both in the 2nd half of the relegation season and when he came back last season, have soured things. It seems there was actually a deal in place to sign him permanently had we gone up last season. Not sure for how much, 5.5m was reported the amount we sold him to Stoke for in the first instance, but it was mentioned the actual figure could have been less as Stoke hadn't paid the full amount. Whatever it was he definitely wasn't worth the amount so in that respect it was probably just as well we didn't go up!

Well we need a striker but I'm not sure he's the right man.
Our biggest problem right now is finishing so I don't understand the logic behind signing a striker whose biggest weakness, from what I've seen of him, is his finishing.
Maybe a settled strike partnership will bring some goals.
It'll take Strachan a bit of time to realise some things the fans already know, such as Gary O'Neil is NOT a right-winger and Arca shouldn't be anywhere near the starting XI.

It didn't used to be, in fact i would have said that was probably his main strength in the past.
