I would have expected The Eurythmics to be top 3, potentially also Elaine Paige & Barbara Dickson to do well. Would probably not have predicted Jennifer Rush to be in the top 3.

This is going to be a terrible Top 3.
I was waiting for the outcome of this poll with such a great sense of expectation, and now I feel rather ill.

19: The Crowd - You'll Never Walk Alone (2.23 pts)Again, a charity record ends up on the lowest rung. Double disaster the Bradford Fire. Not only what happened but this then subsequently preventing Kayleigh by Marillion from reaching number one.

This is going to be a terrible Top 3. I was waiting for the outcome of this poll with such a great sense of expectation, and now I feel rather ill. This is a fantastic top3 although I have to say I wouldn't have expected to work out like this. Certainly I didn't think any of the three would be #1.

4, 3, and 2 are all pretty close, an extra point for any of them would have made the difference.

Got the impression Jennifer Rush had walked this. It did sell far more than the others.

#3 - Jennifer Rush - The Power Of Love
"Isn't this a Celine song?" No, Jenny belted it out first.
It received 6.904742 on average votes to get the #3 of Havens number ones of 1985.

So #1 - and added to the 80's Roll Of Honour....
#1 - Eurythmics - There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart)
7.61 vote average.
Eurythmics now join Blackbox, Diana Ross, Yazz, and the Pet Shop Boys with the #1 single of the year for Haven.
1984 up shortly....

Great record by Eurythmics but I am surprised it took the #1 slot and by quite a margin.
I love Steps - many didn't but I think they'd have to admit that that was a pretty credible version of IKHSW.
Great top 3!
Eurythmics record disabled.

not the top 3 i'd have imagined from 1985 to be honest. i loved Eurythmics and bought their albums, but 'There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart)' is probably one of my least favourites of theirs, and never understood why it was their only UK #1...?
