Green still dropping him now would be so destructive for him . Maybe so but Capello shouldn't consider that when making his decision. His job is to do what's best for England and if that means damaging Green's confidence that's unfortunate but it's a problem for Green and West Ham, not England.

Unless we need to call upon him again? Who's to say Hart/James will get through the game without getting injured, sent off or making a howler? You're then effectively down to 1 keeper as Capello will effectively have said "Sorry mate, but you're not good enough"

Capello needs to show Green some support in case he has to rely on him again. And what better confidence booster than a game against an Algerian side who will probably not even try to attack? James is still not 100% fit, and Hart is basically untried in internationals.
