North and South Korea are still separate. Korea Republic is FIFA's name for South Korea. They call North Korea "Korea DPR". It's Bosnia's first tournament qualification. Iceland haven't qualified yet but it would be their first major tournament if they made it. Bosnia are the only confirmed debutants in Brazil so far but they could be joined by Burkina Faso, Ethiopia and Jordan. Everyone else has played in at least one World Cup before. Thanks. I thought Ethiopia have played before in the finals, but I'm probably mixing it with some other country like Tunisia. Bit strange seeing Iceland as one of the top seeds considering its their first major tournament, that's if they qualify. Who said anything about Iceland being one of the top seeds?

Not a bad draw at all for Iceland. If Scotland can beat Croatia twice, Iceland certainly can. Croatia's form has dipped dramatically over the course of this qualifying campaign and they could be there for the taking.
I'd like to see Romania beat Greece, as Grecce are still one of the dullest teams in Europe and Romania haven't qualified since 1998.
Would've liked to have seen Portugal v France. I'd expect both to win their playoff games, though Portugal v Sweden is effectively two one-man teams playing each other. France are only in the playoffs because they got drawn with Spain.

The draw means 10 of the 11 remaining places could be taken by teams that played in the last World Cup, which would take the total to 24 out of 32. The current record is 20.

I had the same thought about Iceland. They could shatter the record for the smallest country (by population) ever to qualify for the World Cup.

Didn't realise F365 was still going. The World Cup Ladder is still a very good read though the rest of the site remains annoyingly Arsenal-centric.

Would love Iceland to go through - would be a great example of what a relatively sparsely populated country can achieve (note to Wales, N.I. And Scotland)!

We play Chile on November 15th and Germany on November 19th.
We've played Chile a few times in the past including in England's first ever World Cup finals match in 1950 when we won 2-0. However, Chile won 2-0 the last time we played them in 1998.

Intercontinental Playoff, 1st leg: | 0-5
Uruguay all but seal their place in Brazil with a comfortable win in Amman. Their inevitable qualification means it's likely 7 of the 8 quarter-finalists from the last World Cup will be in Brazil, with only Paraguay missing out (Ghana haven't qualified yet but are 6-1 up against Egypt in their playoff tie).

Intercontinental Playoff, 1st leg: | 5-1
And a similar story in the other playoff, as Mexico take a commanding lead over New Zealand, though the visitors did manage a late away goal. NZ keeper Glen Moss pulled off a string of saves to limit Mexico's advantage but it's almost certain El Tri will be playing in their 6th successive finals.

European Playoffs, 1st leg: France have a mountain to climb to reach the World Cup after losing 2-0 in Ukraine. Laurent Koscielny had a night to forget as he concedded a penalty and was later sent off, although Ukraine also finished with 10 men. Iceland played the last half hour with 10 men but held on for a goalless draw at home to Croatia. Greece took the advantage in an eventful game against Romania. There were three goals in a six-minute spell in the first half before things settled down later on. Romania finished with 10 men after Costin Lazar was sent off. In the battle of the one-man teams, Ronaldo beat Ibrahimovic 1-0.

No doubt French supporters will complain that they have had a really tough draw with Spain in their group and then Ukraine. They've certainly not had much luck but I doubt they will get much sympathy from Irish supporters.
