Cheers, I shall be watching some of this on Eursport, and hopefully some highlights on there as well, bbc2 has highlights of the English team as well. I'm thinking Germany and France from Group A, England and Japan from Group B, US and Sweden from Group C and Norway and Brazil from Group D should go through? We've been enjoying the women's super league on espn, so as it's mid season, we know the women cant use the bloke's excuse of being tired after a full season My money is on germany to win it. For the knockout stages is it A v B and C v D, or A v C and B v D? Be good to avoid the US and Germany until as late as possible.

All England's games will be live on the red button (though I'm not sure if that includes Freeview).

England v Mexico later today at 5:00.
More than 71,000 were at Germany's opening game against Canada.
My predictions would be the same as Andy's, except I'd maybe go for Canada over France in Group A.
North Korea might've qualified from the other groups but getting the USA and Sweden is a very tough draw...

Canada did look better than FRance imo, will be interesting to see how that game goes, Canada were very unlucky against Germany, fantastic free kick goal for them! I think the commentator said they'd sold 85% of the tickets so far, which is brill, because it is in mainly big stadiums. Will watch more this aft and tonight.

Two points dropped for England yesterday. A mistake by the goalkeeper for the Mexican goal, and then some wasted chances in the second half.
I know Hope Powell is very loyal to her players but surely there must be a better option than Aluko to partner Kelly Smith up front? I lost count of the number of times she completely mis-timed her shot yesterday.

I'm glad it wasn't just me that thought Aluko cost us the game

We may have won today, but I thought we were absolutely awful, couldn't pass, couldn't shoot, couldn't defend, just awful. If we play like that against a half decent team, we will lose badly. And taking Aluko off at half time was odd, as I thought she'd done well and beaten her amrker a few times, I'd have taken Yankey off, who was eventually replaced. And then when we got 2-1 against NEW ZEALAND, we started time wasting and putting the ball in the corner flag, shocking. I can see Japan beating us, and if Mexico beat NZ we could be in trouble!

Group B:
Japan 4-0 Mexico New Zealand 1-2 England
Japan are through and will top the group if they avoid defeat to England. England will advance unless Mexico defeat New Zealand and Japan defeat England and the combined margin is at least 6 goals (5 if they score at least 3 more than England).

and if NZ beat Mexico we could be in trouble! If NZ beat Mexico, we're through. It might be a different story if Mexico win, but there'd need to be a significant swing in goal difference.
