Relegated: Liverpool, QPR, Southampton
Out of these, I think Southampton are the hottest favourites to go down, QPR is borderline, while Reading is more of a possibility. Liverpool definetly not, but it will be I think another mid-table season to forget for them.

Why are Richmond Town in the Wearside League? They are in North Yorkshire, not Wearside. That said, looking at the Wearside League there's quite a mix of teams from all over the north east, from Northumberland down to North Yorkshire.

Why are Richmond Town in the Wearside League? They are in North Yorkshire, not Wearside. That said, looking at the Wearside League there's quite a mix of teams from all over the north east, from Northumberland down to North Yorkshire. You almost answered your own question. When they applied to join the Wearside League at the end of last season, it was the nearest step 7 league. Their only other option would've been the West Yorkshire League. However, since joining the Wearside League, their old league the Teesside League has been granted step 7 status so it's possible they may decide to move back to cut down on travel costs, although the Wearside is a higher standard of football. As you suggested, the Wearside League generally covers the whole of the north-east and Cumbria, although its boundaries overlap those of the Northern Alliance at the same level, which covers Tyneside, Northumberland and Cumbria.

The teams between 2nd-5th in Greece go into a round robin play-off to decide the second Champions League spot, so Asteras still not quite qualified, although their season position gives them the best head start in the qualifier.

I wouldn't mind it ending now. I am fearing the last few games of the season, the lower placed clubs in the Championship don't stop winning and we're really looking over our shoulders.
We have the worst home record in the division and the 4th best away record.

We only have 15 points in the second half of the season, QPR not far behind with 13. That alone shows we're not so good in the second half of the season, like we are in the first. Last season both halfs were almost balanced. We had 19 points in the 2011 half and 28 in the 2012 half.
The first half of this season we had 25.
Still, winning the League Cup has historically had an effect on various club's formbooks these past few seasons. I'm not looking for an excuse, it's just the trend. Maybe we physiologically exhausted ourselves with the 28 points so quickly, last season it was slow and gradual building the points up to that magic 40, or 42 as it were when we beat Blackburn 3-0 to pass that total from 39 before the kick-off.
We are safe, although a little frightened of Wigan doing there usual late flurry. Aston Villa have only been picking up points against fellow strugglers, it's back to the top half teams next and the tests will be sterner.
This time last season after round 30 they had 33 points, this time it's 30. So therefore the tide is against them. Still, having said all this, I wouldn't mind it ending now with a trip up the M6 for the Wigan game coming early!.

Thanks Cait, hadn't realised that. However, I've left it as it is due to the head start system they use. It's nice to see a playoff system that actually rewards the team finishing higher.

No worries! , only knew cos of a friend from Greece who supports Olympiacos told me . Indeed, none of this get a spot at the last minute of the regular season and you have an equal chance of getting to the Champions League. It's a lot harder if you finish 5th because of the head start system, unlike in the Football League play-offs where everyone has an equal chance to go up. The system of 6th playing 3rd don't necessarily mean a hard slog in going up, unless you're 2010's Blackpool team. The Football League play-offs should follow the Greek system with the top 2 at the end of it playing at Wembley. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superleague_Greece#StructureIn the play-off for the UEFA Champions League, the teams play each other in a home and away round robin. However, they do not all start with 0 points. Instead, a weighting system applies to the teams' standing at the start of the play-off mini-league. The team finishing fifth in the Superleague will start the play off with 0 points. The fifth place team’s end of season tally of points is used to calculate the sum of the points that other teams will have. The point difference of each of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th team from the fifth place team is then divided by five (if the result is a decimal number it is then rounded to a full number, with .5 or more being rounded up) and the resulting number respectively for each team is the number of points with which they will start the mini-league.

My preferred play-off system wouldn't involve a final (which, of course, means it won't be adopted as there would be less revenue). I would prefer to see a mini-league with teams playing each other once. The team finishing higher in the league would play at home. Therefore, the highest places team would play all three matches at home and the lowest team would be away for all three matches.
Goal difference and goals scored would separate teams first followed by head-to-head in the play-offs, head-to-head in the league and, as a last resort, league position.
I don't know if they still do it, but at one time in Italy the play-offs were cancelled if the highest placed team was at least ten points ahead of the team immediately below them.

I think Gillingham (my hometown) are safely through to League One they have been top form this season. It would be an amazing achievement if they won the title this season (which i think they will). Pre-season thought making the playoffs this time was the minimum achievement i expected of them. Wouldn't say their performances have matched that achievement though. Away from home they have been amazing, just one league defeat all season and 12 goals conceded, but at home in the two games i've seen they've been poor overall (good comeback against Fleetwood but awful against Wycombe in a game I watched on Sky).

Following their promotion to the Conference South, Whitehawk have announced they will be changing their name to Brighton City for next season. I don't know why teams do this. Has it ever done Gravesend and Northfleet any good being called Ebbsfleet?
