Hello, Haven! I've been tempted back after a few months hiatus! I continued to post charts on UKMix but wasn't as enthused about it on here. However my album chart (and to an extent the singles chart) have a bit of a boost now i have regular streaming via Deezer! So here is my latest. The missing weeks (from Dec 2012 to two weeks ago) can be found here: www.ukmix.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=86698&start=250
I'll recommence with last week and this week.
Chart clearout on both charts this week! Largely thanks to Deezer!
1 NEW Phildel - Storm Song VIDEO Phildel is a classical/ pop/ alternative singer-songwriter and visual artist. Elements of Bat For Lashes, Kate Bush, Sarah Brightman, Katie Melua. She has released seven videos to promote her upcoming debut album, five of them are charting here. This song is her current single and is a FREE DOWNLOAD as well as an EP lead track.
2 NEW Phildel - The Disappearance Of The Girl VIDEO
Album title track.
3 NEW Wang Chung - Rent Free AUDIO
Yes, the eighties one-hit wonders (which hit depends on if you're UK or US) are back and this is better than anything they did back then. From a 2010 EP and now on a new album.
4 NEW Sneaky Sound System - Big VIDEO
Great pop album.
5 NEW Phildel - Beside You Monsieur Adi Remix/ VIDEO The remix is the best version. The original and remix are both on her Phildel EP.
6 NEW Phildel - The Wolf VIDEO More abrasive than usual, this Bush-ian stomper was a hidden video only accessible through her website, though it is now searchable and "revealed".
7 9 Autre Ne Veut - Play By Play (2 weeks; PEAK) 8 22 Sneaky Sound System - Really Want To See You Again (4 weeks; PEAK) 9 3 Petula Clark - Cut Copy Me (3 weeks; peak #3) 10 1 Goat - Goatman (7 weeks; peak #1) 11 NEW Donkeyboy - Silver Moon LIVE TV CLIP Third Norwegian single from current album (and by far the best track on said album).
12 NEW Gerry and The Holograms - Gerry and The Holograms VIDEO (from 2009 with Frank Zappa 1980 radio intro) Now THIS is a curio! Discovered this through Classic Pop magazine on a feature about New Order - the chord structure is the same as Blue Monday but four years before! There is still controversy over this in Manchester, as NO admitted several steals but they've never owned up to this. It sounds like a punk vocalist trying to do the Doctor Who theme while drunk! Apparently it is a husband and wife duo.
13 2 Faye - Breathe Out (4 weeks; peak #1) 14 NEW Judee Sill - Jesus Was A Crossmaker AUDIO Another lost 70's single - from 1971 and produced by Graham Nash of Crosby, Stills and Nash. Uses Jesus as a metaphor for heartbreak. Coincidentally, both Phildel and Sill have tracks called The Kiss!
15 6 Polly Scattergood - Wanderlust (2 weeks; peak #6) 16 12 Autre Ne Veut - Just Because/ Your Clothes (2 weeks; peak #12) 17 4 Goat - Goathead (7 weeks; peak #4) 18 NEW Sneaky Sound System - Friends VIDEO 19 7 Disclosure with AlunaGeorge - White Noise (3 weeks; peak #7) 20 RE Jessie Ware - 110%/ If You're Never Gonna Move Two Inch Punch Remix audio (30 weeks; peak #2) Lovely remix now on iTunes.
21 16 Vassy - We Are Young (Dave Aude Remix) (4 weeks; peak #12) 22 5 The Good Natured - 5-HT (12 weeks; peak #1) 23 NEW OMD - Metroland 12"/ album version AUDIO 24 11 Churches - Recover (2 weeks; peak #11) 25 NEW Foals - My Number VIDEO Eighties-flecked pop, like TDCC but better.
26 NEW Marina and The Diamonds - E.V.O.L. AUDIO STREAM VIDEO/ Full version AUDIO Valentine's Day FREE gift for fans, given the official Part 8 video title. So it may yet turn up on an album.
27 10 Pulp - After You (7 weeks; peak #4) 28 NEW Decomposing In Paris - Personal Ad (EP) (He Loves Me Not LIVE CLIP/ Personal Ad/ Naked/ High and Dry) Northern Irish trip hop band with a Bush-ian (again!) vocalist. This one i found through Facebook advertising.
29 14 Fun. - Why Am I The One? (7 weeks; peak #5) 30 13 Yelle - L'Amour Parfait (2 weeks; peak #13) 31 NEW ColeCo with Aaliyah - Rock The Boat VIDEO Sampling the late singer to great effect - the original peaked at #20 on my chart 11 years ago. From a FREE EP that also features unofficial reworks of Mariah and Brandy and ought to be sanctioned. I think that new video is official or at least professional.
32 8 The Temper Trap - Miracle (7 weeks; peak #3) 33 NEW Sneaky Sound System - We Love VIDEO (saucy) 34 RE Post War Years - Glass House (12 weeks; peak #10) 35 NEW Phildel - Mistakes VIDEO Hidden video.
36 19 Polly Scattergood - Disco Damaged Kid (2 weeks; peak #19) 37 15 Carrie Underwood - Two Black Cadillacs (16 weeks; peak #8) 38 20 Goat - Let It Bleed (7 weeks; #18 peak) 39 23 Faye - Water Against The Rocks (4 weeks; peak #17) 40 18 Lisa Mitchell - The Story of The Raven and The Mushroom Man (4 weeks; peak #13) 41 NEW Haim - Falling LIVE SESSION VIDEO 42 NEW Serebro - Sexy Ass "LIVE" TV CLIP There's an official "song premiere" video but the UK record company has now blocked it - incidentally Gun will get a UK release next week and will re-enter.
43 NEW Kovak - Radiate VIDEO Blondie influence of course! Along with Kylie/ Donna.
44 RE MØ - Glass VIDEO (3 weeks; PEAK) 45 NEW Plumb - Beautiful VIDEO Second album preview single.
46 25 The Joy Formidable - Cholla (13 weeks; peak #11) 47 24 Suede - Barriers (4 weeks; peak #10) 48 21 Scuba - Hardbody (2 weeks; peak #21) 49 17 Ellie Goulding - Explosions (12 weeks; peak #8) 50 30 Stereophonics - Violins and Tambourines (4 weeks; peak #19) 51 NEW Miss 600 - Hello VIDEO 52 RE Rebecca Ferguson - Shoulder To Shoulder (10 weeks; peak #17) 53 43 Of Monsters and Men - King and Lionheart (3 weeks; peak #43) 54 RE Foals - Inhaler (7 weeks; peak #31) 55 40 Stereophonics - Indian Summer (4 weeks; peak #26) 56 41 Bastille - Pompeii (4 weeks; peak #33) 57 NEW Paramore - Now VIDEO 58 NEW Nadine Shah - Dreary Town AUDIO 59 46 Hurts - Miracle (5 weeks; peak #36) 60 35 Nicole Scherzinger - Boomerang (3 weeks; peak #27) 61 38 Ashlee Simpson - Bat For A Heart (4 weeks; peak #22) 62 27 Kim Walker-Smith - Waste It All (live) (4 weeks; peak #16) 63 28 The Joy Formidable - This Ladder Is Ours (14 weeks; peak #24) 64 NEW Lana Del Rey - Burning Desire VIDEO/ Jaguar car ADVERT 65 29 Adam Ant - Cool Zombie (17 weeks; peak #18)
ALBUM CHART
1 NEW Sneaky Sound System - From Here To Anywhere ALBUM STREAM
2 1 Goat - World Music (2 weeks; peak #1) 3 NEW Tegan and Sara - Heartthrob
ALBUM STREAM/ BONUS TRACKS Not the indie-pop i loved on The Con but a nice set of eighties synth overseen by Greg Kurstin. Don't like either single.
4 NEW Wang Chung - Tazer Up!
ALBUM STREAM Surprisingly good and varied new album. Contains rework of their one big UK hit Dance Hall Days. Download only.
5 2 The Joy Formidable - Wolf's Law (2 weeks; peak #2) 6 NEW Cher - Not.com.mercial
ALBUM STREAM (not original order) Never did i think i'd be charting a Cher album! But this is a fine return to her folk/ rock roots. Recorded in 1994, rejected by the label, released digitally to fans in 2000 and now released officially on CD. The YouTube stream is not in the order of the official tracklist but you can find helpful timelinks and rearrange it to suit. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Not.com.mercial Contains a tribute to Kurt Cobain who had just died - comparable to Johnny Cash for weight/ power.
7 NEW Judee Sill - Judee Sill
ALBUM STREAM Cult folk singer who died in 1979 after a tragically underacheiving career and a set of unfortunate events. This was the first of only two albums made in her lifetime - from 1971. Christian overtones abound, which just compounds the tragedy.
8 NEW Above The Earth - Above The Earth (EP/ mini-album) ALBUM STREAM Russian prog-metal duo similar to Devin Townsend and female-led symphonic metal groups.
9 3 Lisa Mitchell - Bless This Mess (9 weeks; peak #1) 10 NEW Foals - Holy Fire ALBUM STREAM 11 NEW Donkeyboy - Silver Moon ALBUM STREAM Same peak as the single! Though less impressive for an album. 5 good songs out of 12. No classic like the previous.
12 4 Serafina Steer - The Moths Are Real (2 weeks; peak #4) 13 NEW Judee Sill - Heart Food ALBUM STREAM Second and final album from 1973. Too blandly "commercial" for me, in general.
14 6 Adam Ant - ...Is The Blueblack Hussar in Marrying The Gunnar's Daughter (2 weeks; peak #6) 15 9 Chris Tomlin - Burning Lights (2 weeks; peak #9)

1 NEW Cher - The Fall (Kurt's Blues) AUDIO (strong language) There's no single from Not.com.mercial but i had to single this out as it is the greatest thing she's ever recorded (that i've heard).
2 1 Phildel - Storm Song VIDEO (2 weeks; peak #1) 3 2 Phildel - The Disappearance Of The Girl VIDEO (2 weeks; peak #2) 4 3 Wang Chung - Rent Free (2 weeks; peak #3) 5 5 Phildel - Beside You (2 weeks; peak #5) 6 4 Sneaky Sound System - Big (2 weeks; peak #4) 7 NEW Bat For Lashes - Lilies VIDEO
Her best video in years, possibly ever!
8 6 Phildel - The Wolf (2 weeks; peak #6) 9 7 Autre Ne Veut - Play By Play (3 weeks; peak #7) 10 8 Sneaky Sound System - Really Want To See You Again (5 weeks; peak #8) 11 12 Gerry and The Holograms - Gerry and The Holograms (2 weeks; PEAK) 12 NEW Zombi - Shrunken Heads AUDIO Prog-rock/ synth duo featuring Miracle's Steve Moore. Echoes of Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk.
13 9 Petula Clark - Cut Copy Me (4 weeks; peak #3) 14 15 Polly Scattergood - Wanderlust (3 weeks; peak #6) 15 16 Autre Ne Veut - Just Because/ Your Clothes (3 weeks; peak #12) 16 10 Goat - Goatman (8 weeks; peak #1) 17 NEW Puscifer - Donkey Punch The Night (EP) (Breathe AUDIO/ Dear Brother/ Balls To The Wall) EP STREAM Latest from Tool/ A Perfect Circle frontman's other project. Lead track is a pointless identical cover of Bohemian Rhapsody whose only purpose is a "comedy" video. The tracks i listed are more understated and sedate, even the cover of metal band Accept's Balls To The Wall.
18 13 Faye - Breathe Out (5 weeks; peak #1) 19 11 Donkeyboy - Silver Moon (2 weeks; peak #11) 20 18 Sneaky Sound System - Friends (2 weeks; peak #18) 21 RE Van She - Jamaica (14 weeks; peak #17) 22 20 Jessie Ware - 110%/ If You're Never Gonna Move (31 weeks; peak #2) 23 23 OMD - Metroland (2 weeks; peak #23) 24 25 Foals - My Number (2 weeks; PEAK) 25 19 Disclosure with AlunaGeorge - White Noise (4 weeks; peak #7) 26 22 The Good Natured - 5-HT (13 weeks; peak #1) 27 35 Phildel - Mistakes (2 weeks; PEAK) 28 21 Vassy - We Are Young (Dave Aude Remix) (5 weeks; peak #12) 29 33 Sneaky Sound System - We Love (2 weeks; PEAK) 30 RE Van She - Kelly (14 weeks; peak #16) 31 NEW Van She - Sarah AUDIO 32 45 Plumb - Beautiful (2 weeks; PEAK) 33 17 Goat - Goathead (8 weeks; peak #4) 34 31 ColeCo with Aaliyah - Rock The Boat (2 weeks; peak #31) 35 RE Van She - Cat and The Eye (13 weeks; peak #35) 36 NEW Van She - Changes VIDEO Song from previous album charts for first time, joining a recharting Kelly, Cat and The Eye and Strangers.
37 27 Pulp - After You (8 weeks; peak #4) 38 30 Yelle - L'Amour Parfait (3 weeks; peak #13) 39 14 Judee Sill - Jesus Was A Crossmaker (2 weeks; peak #14) 40 24 Churches - Recover (3 weeks; peak #11) 41 29 Fun. - Why Am I The One? (8 weeks; peak #5) 42 RE Van She - Strangers (6 weeks; peak #22) 43 38 Goat - Let It Bleed (8 weeks; #18 peak) 44 RE Serebro - Gun ALTERNATIVE UK VIDEO (saucy)/ Malchik (12 weeks; peak #18) 45 41 Haim - Falling VIDEO 46 26 Marina and The Diamonds - E.V.O.L. (2 weeks; peak #26) 47 NEW Margaret Berger - I Feed You My Love VIDEO Norway's Eurovision entry is an industrial pop monster. It will get noticed for being different but it's hardly ESC material and simply not strong enough. When you consider this woman has gems like Samantha in her catalogue, songs that are way more fitting, this choice is simply perverse.
48 NEW Van She - Idea Of Happiness VIDEO New album title track, joining that album's Jamaica and Sarah on the chart. They have seven entries this week thanks to Deezer.
49 36 Polly Scattergood - Disco Damaged Kid (3 weeks; peak #19) 50 42 Serebro - Sexy Ass (2 weeks; peak #42) 51 51 Miss 600 - Hello (2 weeks; peak #51) 52 28 Decomposing In Paris - Personal Ad (EP) (He Loves Me Not/ Personal Ad/ Naked/ High and Dry) 53 32 The Temper Trap - Miracle (8 weeks; peak #3) 54 37 Carrie Underwood - Two Black Cadillacs (17 weeks; peak #8) 55 39 Faye - Water Against The Rocks (5 weeks; peak #17) 56 NEW Plumb - I Want You Here AUDIO/ OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO (incorporates Peter Gabriel's In Your Eyes) Album preview single #3.
57 43 Kovak - Radiate (2 weeks; peak #43) 58 NEW Kylie Minogue with Múm - Whistle AUDIO (full length) Unexpected collaboration with Icelandic alt. group, from Juno Temple film Jack and Diane.
59 56 Bastille - Pompeii (5 weeks; peak #33) 60 40 Lisa Mitchell - The Story of The Raven and The Mushroom Man (5 weeks; peak #13) 61 50 Stereophonics - Violins and Tambourines (5 weeks; peak #19) 62 57 Paramore - Now (2 weeks; peak #57) 63 53 Of Monsters and Men - King and Lionheart (4 weeks; peak #43) 64 55 Stereophonics - Indian Summer (5 weeks; peak #26) 65 44 MØ - Glass (4 weeks; peak #44)

Good to see a fellow fan of early 1970s singer/songwriter Judee Sill. Have you checked out the similar Laura Nyro?
And I did not know Leddra Chapman had new material out, as I really rated her Telling Tales album.

Yeh it's a busy week for albums I just found a few more that I need to listen too before making my month end list. Oh and thanks for letting me no Wan Chung are back , the Album is interesting kind of goes from sublime to ridiculous and back again but it's not dull that's for sure.

1 NEW Plumb - Beautiful History (Ian Nieman Remix) Soundcloud AUDIO/ Spotify AUDIO I was expecting a slew of Plumb tracks this week in the wake of the new album but didn't think a remix of an old track would be topping! This was part of a mix set released last year with Need You Now. It was through listening to the new album on Spotify that i listened to this. This song has SEVEN mixes in the set despite not being the "a side"! So it may as well get its own separate listing! Another old song gets mixed up a bit futher down.
2 NEW Caitlin Rose - Only A Clown VIDEO
Alt-country singer. Potentially huge seller. See album chart.
3 2 Phildel - Storm Song VIDEO (3 weeks; peak #1) Turned up this week on Decca's pop/ classical compilation I'll Stand By You so a few unsuspecting people will have been won over! 4 1 Cher - The Fall (Kurt's Blues) (2 weeks; peak #1) 5 3 Phildel - The Disappearance Of The Girl (3 weeks; peak #2) 6 RE Plumb - Need You Now (How Many Times?) OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO (7 weeks; PEAK) 7 NEW Plumb - Always (Soul Seekerz mixes) Extended Mix AUDIO Yes, a random song from her lullaby album Blink got mixed up last year, too! Always love the NRG-pop of Soul Seekerz!
8 9 Autre Ne Veut - Play By Play (4 weeks; peak #7) 9 NEW Martin Smith - Back To The Start (God's Great Dance Floor) VIDEO Originally two different songs on his set of self-released EP's last year, and co-written with Chris Tomlin who released his version of GGDF on his US #1 album Burning Lights.
10 4 Wang Chung - Rent Free (3 weeks; peak #3) 11 5 Phildel - Beside You (3 weeks; peak #5) 12 13 Petula Clark - Cut Copy Me (5 weeks; peak #3) 13 7 Bat For Lashes - Lilies (2 weeks; peak #7) 14 56 Plumb - I Want You Here (2 weeks; PEAK) HUGE CLIMBER!
15 32 Plumb - Beautiful (3 weeks; PEAK) 16 6 Sneaky Sound System - Big (3 weeks; peak #4) 17 RE Paul Van Dyk and Plumb - I Don't Deserve You (9 weeks; PEAK) Her solo version (not counted here) is on the new album alongside this.
18 8 Phildel - The Wolf (3 weeks; peak #6) 19 RE Kavinsky - ProtoVision (2 weeks; PEAK) 20 NEW Kavinsky - Testarossa Autodrive AUDIO/ VIDEO (not full track) Dating back to 2006, but on the new album!
21 10 Sneaky Sound System - Really Want To See You Again (6 weeks; peak #8) 22 16 Goat - Goatman (9 weeks; peak #1) 23 26 The Good Natured - 5-HT (14 weeks; peak #1) 24 RE Plumb - One Drop (2 weeks; PEAK) 25 NEW Little Boots - Motorway AUDIO STREAM VIDEO FREE download, album taster.
26 15 Autre Ne Veut - Just Because/ Your Clothes (4 weeks; peak #12) 27 14 Polly Scattergood - Wanderlust (4 weeks; peak #6) 28 12 Zombi - Shrunken Heads (2 weeks; peak #12) 29 17 Puscifer - Donkey Punch The Night (EP) (Breathe/ Dear Brother/ Balls To The Wall) (2 weeks; peak #17) 30 18 Faye - Breathe Out (6 weeks; peak #1) 31 11 Gerry and The Holograms - Gerry and The Holograms (3 weeks; peak #11) 32 RE Post War Years - All Eyes (8 weeks; peak #28) 33 NEW Biffy Clyro - Biblical AUDIO 34 20 Sneaky Sound System - Friends (3 weeks; peak #18) 35 NEW Army Of The Universe with Chibi - Until The End VIDEO/ Remix AUDIO Italian industrial band featuring NIN's Chris Vrenna. This new single has The Birthday Massacre's singer on guest vocals, with the remix her vocal only.
36 23 OMD - Metroland Manhattan Clique Remix AUDIO (3 weeks; peak #23) 37 24 Foals - My Number (3 weeks; peak #24) 38 19 Donkeyboy - Silver Moon (3 weeks; peak #11) 39 22 Jessie Ware - 110%/ If You're Never Gonna Move (32 weeks; peak #2) Now her longest chart run!
40 RE Post War Years - The Bell (6 weeks; peak #34) 41 29 Sneaky Sound System - We Love (3 weeks; peak #29) 42 25 Disclosure with AlunaGeorge - White Noise VIDEO (5 weeks; peak #7) 43 NEW Rodriguez - Sugar Man 2009 LIVE VIDEO/ 1970 AUDIO (official upload) A documentary film about him won BAFTAs and Oscars recently. I've not seen the film but it's an amazing story of a "secret superstar" who ought to be as recognised as Dylan because in South Africa and Australia he IS! When i see the film, i'll listen to the two albums and soundtrack.
44 NEW Mychael Danna with Bombay Jayashri - Pi's Lullaby FAN VIDEO (uses film clips) Now i love the film Life Of Pi but the music wasn't what hit me. Since this got an Oscar nom and the score won also, i finally listened to the album.
45 27 Phildel - Mistakes (3 weeks; peak #27) 46 28 Vassy - We Are Young (Dave Aude Remix) (6 weeks; peak #12) 47 33 Goat - Goathead (9 weeks; peak #4) 48 NEW Melody's Echo Chamber - Crystallized VIDEO 49 NEW Tom Odell - Hold Me VIDEO Nick Cave-ish stormer, far better than the wet over-rated tripe i've heard from him before.
50 RE Plumb with Dan Haseltine - Drifting (14 weeks; peak #12) 51 NEW Army Of The Universe - Lovedead VIDEO 52 38 Yelle - L'Amour Parfait (4 weeks; peak #13) 53 RE Hurts - Miracle VIDEO (V.2) (6 weeks; peak #36) Video has been reshot, with less female buttocks, more darkness and blood. It's better but hardly Miracle's Good Love, though.
54 RE Ultraista - Bad Insect (2 weeks; peak #23) 55 RE Ultraista - Our Song (5 weeks; peak #29) 56 RE Miss 600 - Twist (7 weeks; peak #10) 57 RE Miss 600 - Dance With You (10 weeks; peak #17) 58 RE Post War Years - Glass House (13 weeks; peak #10) 59 40 Churches - Recover (4 weeks; peak #11) 60 41 Fun. - Why Am I The One? (9 weeks; peak #5) 61 37 Pulp - After You (9 weeks; peak #4) 62 34 ColeCo with Aaliyah - Rock The Boat (3 weeks; peak #31) 63 45 Haim - Falling (3 weeks; peak #41) 64 RE Miss 600 - Missing You (5 weeks; peak #23) 65 NEW Red - Perfect Life VIDEO 66 21 Van She - Jamaica (15 weeks; peak #17) 67 RE Miss 600 - Typically Me (6 weeks; peak #44) 68 51 Miss 600 - Hello (3 weeks; peak #51) 69 30 Van She - Kelly (15 weeks; peak #16) 70 31 Van She - Sarah (2 weeks; peak #31) 71 44 Serebro - Gun/ Malchik (13 weeks; peak #18) 72 50 Serebro - Sexy Ass (3 weeks; peak #42) 73 RE Miles Kane - Give Up (4 weeks; peak #40) 74 NEW Keaton Henson - Lying To You VIDEO 75 RE Ultraista - Gold Dayzz (3 weeks; peak #47)
I'm still working on the album chart.

ALBUM CHART
1 NEW Plumb - Need You Now ALBUM STREAM Highlights: Say Your Name, Unlovable, Need You Now (How Many Times?), I Want You Here, I Don't Deserve You (solo) Try and listen to Unlovable without crying (inspired by a gay friend and his experience with fellow Christians). The sheer emotive power of Tiffany's voice and lyrics hit you again. Chocolate and Ice Cream is horrendous perky skippy music that i can't stand, though (see Mraz, Train).
2 NEW Caitlin Rose - The Stand-In
ALBUM STREAM Everywhere I Go, No One To Call, Menagerie, Only A Clown 25 year-old indie country girl from US giving her second album a UK release a week before the States. This is a delightful album drawing comparisons to Loretta Lynn and Fleetwood Mac.
3 NEW Autre Ne Veut - Anxiety
ALBUM STREAM Gonna Die, Play By Play, Don't Ever Look Back Prince after suffering severe sex deprivation. Having a touch of the Reznors.
4 NEW Kavinsky - Outrun
ALBUM STREAM Grand Canyon, Blizzard, Nightcall (with Lovefoxxx) The mythical story of a car/ human super-being soundtracked by a French keyboard wizard obsessed with the eighties.
5 NEW John Foxx and The Maths - Evidence
ALBUM STREAM Evidence, Changelings (with Gazelle Twin), A Falling Star (with Gazelle Twin) An actual eighties keyboard wizard and his second set of experiments with producer Benge.
6 1 Sneaky Sound System - From Here To Anywhere (3 weeks; peak #1) 7 NEW Hillsong United - Zion
ALBUM STREAM Relentless, Love Is War, Zion Not as good as Aftermath but it's topping iTunes in US, Canada, Aus, NZ and even top 30 UK!
8 NEW Various Artists - A Concert For Kirsty MacColl
ALBUM STREAM Soho Square (by Ellie Goulding), In These Shoes? (by Catherine Tate), Tread Lightly (by Amy Macdonald) 2010 set newly released. Also features Alison Moyet, Billy Bragg, Andrea Corr among others.
9 2 Tegan and Sara - Heartthrob (3 weeks; peak #2) 10 NEW My Bloody Valentine - MBV
ALBUM STREAM In Another Way, She Found Now, New You i was thinking this would get an official wide release but it's only available via their site (physicals shipping now). I've not actually heard Loveless all the way through yet (adored Soon the single - was up and down with other songs). New You is surprisingly uncluttered and commercial for them! Nothing Is is just taking the p*ss - literally a stuck guitar riff for 4 minutes!
11 NEW Post War Years - Galapagos
ALBUM STREAM Glass House, All Eyes, The Bell, God Better than Foals - bizarrely no media fuss at all.
12 NEW Miss 600 - Buying Time
ALBUM STREAM The Devil Looks Out For His Own, Twist, Dance With You Jazz duo's repackaged debut (not out physically till late March). The Devil is stunningly daring and sexy, shame they don't have the confidence to do more of the same. It's not quite Caro Emerald but it's a fair stab.
13 NEW Petula Clark - Lost In You
ALBUM STREAM Cut Copy Me, Downtown (new version), Never Enough It's part chillout, part country, part what-where-you-thinking?? Skip the covers of Imagine and Crazy (Barkley not Cline). Nothing as sublime as Cut Copy Me (which was on a French album originally).
All the above albums i recommend. Even the ones below the top ten are two thirds great. Hence the pictorials.
14 3 Wang Chung - Tazer Up! (3 weeks; peak #3) 15 NEW Army Of The Universe - Mother Ignorance ALBUM STREAM Lovedead, Dust In The Universe The previous album by the Italian industrial/ techno band (from 2011). Produced by (now fulltime member) Chris Vrenna. Features a cover of Bjork's Army Of Me that isn't as great as a NIN-associated cover should be (if you downplay the vocal but keep the same track, what's the point?).
16 4 Cher - Not.com.mercial (3 weeks; peak #4) She's having record company problems with her new album now! Could we see Not.com.mercial 2?
17 5 Goat - World Music (4 weeks; peak #1) 18 NEW Mychael Danna - Life Of Pi (OST) ALBUM STREAM/ YOUTUBE STREAM (with missing tracks)Leaving India (see second stream), Pi's Lullaby (with Bombay Jayashri) Oscar winning no less.
19 NEW Ultraista - Ultraista ALBUM STREAM Bad Insect, Our Song, Wash It Over Nigel Godrich and Joey Waronker's OTHER group that doesn't feature an over-rated hyper-active bassist and a babbling squinty singer (Atoms For Peace). Was leaving it to this week to compare albums but AFP don't have Spotify or Deezer streams (i missed the Pitchfork preview). No matter, i don't like the singles or the preview clips. Thom Yorke was once a genius, now he means literally nothing. This album is not perfect but it has some nice vocals by Laura Bettinson and actual melodies.
20 6 Van She - V (2 weeks; peak #6) 21 7 Van She - Idea Of Happiness (2 weeks; peak #7) 22 9 The Joy Formidable - Wolf's Law (4 weeks; peak #2) 23 8 Van She - Van She (EP/ mini-album) (2 weeks; peak #8) 24 10 Zombi - Escape Velocity (2 weeks; peak #10) 25 11 Leddra Chapman - The Crowd and Cocktails (EP/ mini-album) (2 weeks; peak #11) 26 12 Judee Sill - Judee Sill (3 weeks; peak #7) 27 NEW Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds - Push The Sky Away ALBUM STREAM It is too sedate/ indulgent for me. Loved his gospel-rock period stuff and most of his albums up to Grinderman. Then he lost me. This has one truly great song - Mermaids. And some others that are more admirable than lovable.
28 14 Lisa Mitchell - Bless This Mess (11 weeks; peak #1) 29 16 Serafina Steer - The Moths Are Real (4 weeks; peak #4) 30 13 Above The Earth - Above The Earth (EP/ mini-album) (3 weeks; peak #8)

And this European only single is one of very few good tracks on the previous two. Nice French pop style.
29 NEW KMFDM - Krank VIDEO (strong language) I've been catching up on this group, too! German industrial legends now including US/UK members. This is from the previous album.
30 NEW Carly Rae Jepson - Tonight I'm Getting Over You VIDEO This should be big. Chunky sound that lays waste to the cuteness of her other singles.

"Kunst" is German for "Art" as Ting Tings fans may know!
44 NEW Jimi Hendrix - Earth Blues AUDIO The latest of two singles from a new album of unearthed songs from the vaults.
45 45 Phildel - Mistakes (4 weeks; peak #27) 46 25 Little Boots - Motorway (2 weeks; peak #25) 47 24 Plumb - One Drop (3 weeks; peak #24) 48 RE How To Destroy Angels - How Long? ALBUM CHART
1 1 Plumb - Need You Now (2 weeks; peak #1) 2 2 Caitlin Rose - The Stand-In (2 weeks; peak #2) 3 4 Kavinsky - Outrun (2 weeks; PEAK) 4 NEW Stereophonics - Graffiti On The Train
ALBUM STREAM/ BONUS TRACK Zoe First of their albums i've heard in full and quite a moody, gritty thing, regardless of Indian Summer which seems to have been made purely to court radio.
5 3 Autre Ne Veut - Anxiety (2 weeks; peak #3) 6 NEW KMFDM - UAIOE
ALBUM STREAM From 1988 is the industrial/ electronica band's best album. With production by Adrian Sherwood it's a dub-flecked sound unlike most of their other albums. The highest of 20(!) albums by the act this week.
7 NEW KMFDM - Nihil
ALBUM STREAM The best of their more metal sounding albums.
8 NEW KMFDM - WWIII
ALBUM STREAM
9 NEW KMFDM - Angst
ALBUM STREAM
10 NEW Dido - Odds and Ends (1995 promo)
YOUTUBE PLAYLIST STREAM (scroll down bottom right) This is her second best album! A promo sent out to record companies by her management company, some of the songs ended up released (Take My Hand being the most known), some still haven't. Given the quality of them, this is bizarre. Give Me Strength is from the same pool of fiery power-pop as Here With Me and Hunter. The only released version is to be found on another album on this chart. I don't think that photo is an official cover - probably fan-made when the set became downloadable (illegally). The actual cover is found on the stream link.
11 6 Sneaky Sound System - From Here To Anywhere (4 weeks; peak #1) 12 5 John Foxx and The Maths - Evidence (2 weeks; peak #5) 13 NEW How To Destroy Angels - Welcome Oblivion
ALBUM STREAM First full length by Reznor and co. It's almost a full-on r and b set.
14 NEW Dido - Girl Who Got Away
ALBUM STREAM As i was saying, the last two albums were quite dull - see where they chart by scrolling. So it was a relief to hear some sublime chillout and pop on here, like No Angel is back! Sadly, 8 good tracks out of 18 (on deluxe) isn't good enough to rank the album as high as it ought to be given how often i've been playing certain tracks. If it was a 10 track album with those 8 songs on i'd have it at #2. To go from her worst single ever No Freedom to the blissful End Of Night (a Greg Kurstin pop nugget) and chillout delights Go Dreaming and the title track is just nuts. Drop the James Blunt crap. :x
15 NEW Skold vs KMFDM - Skold vs KMFDM
ALBUM STREAM You may now Tim Skold from his work with Marilyn Manson. He was a member of KMFDM for a period, then several years later teamed up with them again under his solo moniker.
16 NEW KMFDM - Naive ALBUM STREAM 17 NEW KMFDM - Money ALBUM STREAM 18 NEW KMFDM - What Do You Know, Deutschland? ALBUM STREAM 19 NEW KMFDM - Kunst ALBUM STREAM (explicit artwork) The brand new album - charted in US electronic albums. This was where i started.
20 NEW KMFDM - Don't Blow Your Top ALBUM STREAM 21 NEW Parralox - Electricity ALBUM STREAM The 2008 debut with the original female singer.
22 NEW MDFMK (KMFDM) - MDFMK YOUTUBE SONG (most of the others are on there, too - so search!) When the band split in 99 two members did this side project with a female vocalist. Bit poppier than before (think Garbage). It went so well, they carried on under the usual name (and expanded).
23 NEW KMFDM - Tohuvabohu ALBUM STREAM A Hebrew word referring to the chaos before creation in the Bible.
24 NEW Faithless - Outrospective ALBUM STREAM Catching up on Dido naturally led to catching up on this oufit! I'd bought several singles but never took the risk of an album. This is their best - most consistent and most upbeat.
25 NEW KGC - Dirty Bomb ALBUM STREAM This is the male/ female current core of KMFDM (Sacha Konietsko and Lucia Cifarelli) collaborating with Dean Garcia (Curve, SPC ECO). As you may expect, it resembles Garcia's past and current groups.
26 NEW Olafur Arnalds - For Now I Am Winter ALBUM STREAM/ BONUS TRACK No Other Icelandic composer/ instrumentalist currently heard soundtracking excellent ITV crime drama Broadchurch. This similar sounding album was released to coincide. Great melancholic mood.
27 NEW Faithless - No Roots ALBUM STREAM 28 NEW KMFDM - (Symbols) ALBUM STREAM The title is actually five unpronounceable comic book style graphics - the kind they use to cover expletives. Symbols is the name used for categorisation purposes.
29 9 Tegan and Sara - Heartthrob (4 weeks; peak #2) 30 NEW KMFDM - WTF?! ALBUM STREAM Quite!!
31 10 My Bloody Valentine - MBV (2 weeks; peak #10) 32 NEW Jimi Hendrix - People, Hell and Angels ALBUM STREAM Cuts from 68/69 aired for the first time. All good apart from a couple of tracks that can't realistically be termed Hendrix solo tracks.
33 NEW KMFDM - Blitz ALBUM STREAM 34 NEW Parralox - State Of Decay ALBUM STREAM First album with Amii.
35 7 Hillsong United - Zion (2 weeks; peak #7) 36 NEW Parralox - Metropolis ALBUM STREAM Now reissued to include the Hammond mix edit of Sharper not found on the single.
37 NEW Bastille - Bad Blood ALBUM STREAM Talk about over-rated. The title track is still by far their best. There is a lack of melody, a lack of power, a lack of soul. Invoking Twin Peaks doesn't help him either. David Lynch would laugh in his face. It's also about as "alternative" as Frankie Cocozza's hairstyle.
38 NEW Claudia Brucken - The Lost Are Found ALBUM STREAM Covers album - songs by Dubstar, Pet Shop Boys, Bowie, Bee Gees, ELO, Julee Cruise (TP again! and about as pointless). It's pleasant, not essential. The fact that Stephen Hague is producing songs he already did (a third here) basically makes you search for the originals.
39 8 Various Artists - A Concert For Kirsty MacColl (2 weeks; peak #8) 40 NEW KMFDM - Adios ALBUM STREAM 41 17 Goat - World Music (5 weeks; peak #1) 42 NEW Faithless - Reverence ALBUM STREAM As i thought, the unsurpassed Salva Mea and Insomnia surrounded by hippy sh*t. More of Maxi's sleazy funk and less Catto strumming and crooning would have been better.
43 14 Wang Chung - Tazer Up! (4 weeks; peak #3) 44 12 Miss 600 - Buying Time (2 weeks; peak #12) 45 13 Petula Clark - Lost In You (2 weeks; peak #13) 46 NEW Faithless - Sunday 8PM ALBUM STREAM 47 NEW Over The Rhine - Films For Radio ALBUM STREAM Americana/ alternative group and 2001 album. I listened because it features the only official release of that aforementioned Dido song Give Me Strength. Produced by the same guy who co-wrote/ produced the Dido version - Pascal Gabriel.
48 NEW KMFDM - Xtort ALBUM STREAM 49 11 Post War Years - Galapagos (2 weeks; peak #11) 50 16 Cher - Not.com.mercial (4 weeks; peak #4) 51 15 Army Of The Universe - Mother Ignorance (2 weeks; peak #15) 52 NEW KMFDM - Attak ALBUM STREAM 53 20 Van She - V (3 weeks; peak #6) 54 22 The Joy Formidable - Wolf's Law (5 weeks; peak #2) 55 21 Van She - Idea Of Happiness (3 weeks; peak #7) 56 24 Zombi - Escape Velocity (3 weeks; peak #10) 57 29 Serafina Steer - The Moths Are Real (5 weeks; peak #4) 58 NEW Kate Nash - Girl Talk ALBUM STREAM This is basically female grunge/ riot grrrl music - completely irrelevant in 2013. Honestly, if you like this, go check Veruca Salt, Belly, or - if you stomach it - early Hole. It's not totally without merit, it's quite charming and full of character. But it's just... whaaah?
59 NEW KMFDM - Hau Ruck DO YOU REALLY WANT A STREAM AT THIS POINT??? IT BROKE, I CAN'T!! 60 25 Leddra Chapman - The Crowd and Cocktails (EP/ mini-album) (3 weeks; peak #11) 61 28 Lisa Mitchell - Bless This Mess (12 weeks; peak #1) 62 NEW Dido - Life For Rent I really didn't expect it to be SO vanilla. Three fantastic chill songs and a whole load of gash.
63 26 Judee Sill - Judee Sill (4 weeks; peak #7) 64 NEW Dido - Safe Trip Home And this one has that song i charted and the epic chill track Northern Skies. Rather than stream both albums, here's the playlist i made of all three (plus the soundtrack cuts she did) with the GWGA stormers listed first. PLAYLIST STREAM 65 27 Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds - Push The Sky Away (2 weeks; peak #27)
Phew! What a week! NEXT!

ALBUM CHART
1 NEW Phildel - The Disappearance Of The Girl ALBUM STREAM What else could it be?
2 1 Plumb - Need You Now (4 weeks; peak #1) 3 NEW David Bowie - Earthling
ALBUM STREAM 1997 and a drum and bass influenced set, featuring the hit Little Wonder (which i bought). Yes, this is my fave of all his albums. Utterly modern, never boring.
4 NEW David Bowie - Low
ALBUM STREAM Widely regarded as his best by critics (or tied best with "Heroes"), the instrumentals in particular are sublime on both. This wins as it is more consistent.
5 NEW Phosphorescent - Muchacho
ALBUM STREAM 6 2 Caitlin Rose - The Stand-In (4 weeks; peak #2) 7 NEW David Bowie - "Heroes"
ALBUM STREAM Heard it all before via YouTube but not in unbroken sequence.
8 NEW Karl Bartos - Off The Record
ALBUM STREAM/ DEEZER STREAM (with Silence track)
9 NEW Kraftwerk - Computer World
ALBUM STREAM
10 NEW Bethel Live - For The Sake Of The World
ALBUM STREAM Some of the most impassioned emotive worship music i've heard (Plumb and Brooke Fraser fans would like).
11 NEW Daughter - If You Leave
ALBUM STREAM So, i watched this album storm iTunes top 5, listened, was expecting muted XX from the clips i'd heard (who i don't like much) and wasn't impressed... until halfway through it just hit me! This is powerful, passionate unusual music. It's an album that needs full attention as individual songs don't really work in isolation - not in the same way. This album will win awards (weirdly the places you expect to praise it - NME and the like - are a bit cold on it).
12 NEW David Bowie - Hours... ALBUM STREAM 13 NEW Kraftwerk - Trans Europe Express ALBUM STREAM 14 NEW Kraftwerk - The Man-Machine ALBUM STREAM 15 NEW David Bowie - Outside ALBUM STREAM His industrial album. Adored The single The Heart's Filthy Lesson (Trent Reznor mix is on this set as a bonus) and original Hallo Spaceboy. This is just too long though.
16 NEW Pulp - Separations ALBUM STREAM Caught up on the pre-94 albums. This was the transitional album - half jangly indie that they made a name from in the eighties, half acid house inspired tracks that paved the way for the full synth-indie mixture they'd perfect.
17 NEW Kraftwerk - Radio-Activity ALBUM STREAM 18 NEW David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars ALBUM STREAM 19 3 Hurts - Exile (2 weeks; peak #3) 20 5 Kavinsky - Outrun (4 weeks; peak #3) 21 4 Stars - The North (2 weeks; peak #4) 22 8 Dido - Girl Who Got Away (3 weeks; peak #8) 23 NEW David Bowie - The Man Who Sold The World ALBUM STREAM 24 NEW David Bowie - Hunky Dory ALBUM STREAM 25 NEW Bethel Music - The Loft Sessions ALBUM STREAM 26 NEW Billy Bragg - Tooth and Nail ALBUM STREAM His first full-on country album and his biggest album in 17 years.
27 NEW Kraftwerk - Tour De France ALBUM STREAM 28 NEW David Bowie - Space Oddity/ David Bowie (1969) ALBUM STREAM 29 NEW David Bowie - Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps) ALBUM STREAM 30 7 Worship Central - Let It Be Known (live) (2 weeks; peak #7) 31 NEW Kraftwerk - Autobahn ALBUM STREAM 32 NEW David Bowie - Young Americans ALBUM STREAM 33 NEW David Bowie - Station To Station ALBUM STREAM 34 NEW Pulp - It ALBUM STREAM The 1983 debut. Only Jarvis remains as a member from this unassuming album.
35 NEW David Bowie - Aladdin Sane ALBUM STREAM 36 NEW Pulp - Freaks ALBUM STREAM Extremely odd and fairly psychotic second album from 1987 - Russell Senior (who joined in 1985) given the most contribution of any album (this was when he was co-lead singer). Stream features bonus set of the numerous non-album singles between the two albums.
37 6 KMFDM - UAIOE (3 weeks; peak #6)
38 NEW David Bowie - Pin Ups ALBUM STREAM 39 9 Tom Waits - Bad As Me (2 weeks; peak #9) 40 14 The Birthday Massacre - Hide and Seek (12 weeks; peak #1) 41 11 Autre Ne Veut - Anxiety (4 weeks; peak #3) 42 10 Stereophonics - Graffiti On The Train (3 weeks; peak #4) 43 NEW David Bowie - The Buddha Of Suburbia (TV OST/ inspired by) PARTIAL ALBUM STREAM/ YOUTUBE SONG SEARCH 44 16 Worship Central - Spirit Break Out (live) (2 weeks; peak #16) 45 21 Olafur Arnalds - For Now I Am Winter (3 weeks; peak #21) 46 NEW David Bowie - Lodger ALBUM STREAM 47 NEW David Bowie - Diamond Dogs ALBUM STREAM 48 NEW David Bowie - Let's Dance ALBUM STREAM 49 NEW Rend Collective Experiment - Organic Family Hymnal ALBUM STREAM Nice indie-esque Christian rock from an Irish collective who are huge in Christian circles.
50 18 Sneaky Sound System - From Here To Anywhere (6 weeks; peak #1) 51 17 Sound City (Dave Grohl and Co.) - Sound City - Real To Reel (OST) (2 weeks; peak #17) 52 NEW David Bowie - Never Let Me Down ALBUM STREAM 53 NEW Woodkid - The Golden Age ALBUM STREAM Better than Bastille but his voice grates after time.
54 NEW David Bowie - David Bowie (1967) ALBUM STREAM 55 12 KMFDM - Nihil (3 weeks; peak #7) 56 13 Dido - Odds and Ends (1995 promo) (3 weeks; peak #10) 57 NEW Hillsong Live - Cornerstone ALBUM STREAM 58 23 How To Destroy Angels - Welcome Oblivion (3 weeks; peak #13) 59 55 David Bowie - The Next Day (2 weeks; peak #55) 60 NEW Pulp - Party Clowns - Live In London 1991 ALBUM STREAM Unofficial release from last year. Was recorded for ITV and features great Jarvis banter.
61 NEW Kraftwerk - Techno Pop/ Electric Cafe ALBUM STREAM 62 NEW Justin Timberlake - The 20/20 Experience ALBUM STREAM Desperately in need of some radio edits but quite daring in places. Some amazing mood pieces.
63 NEW Hadouken! - Every Weekend ALBUM STREAM 64 NEW The Tolkien Ensemble and Christopher Lee - At Dawn In Rivendell - Songs and Poems from The Lord Of The Rings ALBUM STREAM Danish collective with an album that has garnered the most attention - for obvious reasons. They have done music for all the Rings material in Tolkien's trilogy but it's not good enough for me to investigate the rest.
65 25 Deadmau5 - <Album Title Goes Here> (2 weeks; peak #25) 66 NEW David Bowie - Heathen ALBUM STREAM 67 15 Phatfish - Higher (2 weeks; peak #15) 68 20 John Foxx and The Maths - Evidence (4 weeks; peak #5) 69 36 Goat - World Music (7 weeks; peak #1) 70 30 Tegan and Sara - Heartthrob (6 weeks; peak #2) 71 34 My Bloody Valentine - MBV (4 weeks; peak #10) 72 NEW David Bowie - Reality ALBUM STREAM 73 NEW Suuns - Images Du Futur 74 NEW David Ford - Charge 75 NEW Rend Collective Experiment - Homemade Worship For Handmade People ALBUM STREAM Most recent "proper" album. Too much like the sh*tty Mumfords/ Lumineers. I hate that phony "folk" music, don't care if it has Christian sentiment (though that alone merits this position). It is not folk music - it is stadium rock and empty and irksome. Hillsong United got it right on their Christmas hit Born Is The King but i'm really getting sick of it all and the overprais(!)ing of stadium folk.
76 NEW David Bowie - Black Tie, White Noise 77 NEW David Bowie - Tonight 79 NEW Nite Jewel - One Second Of Love 80 NEW Suede - Bloodsports[/b]

ALBUM CHART
1 2 Plumb - Need You Now (5 weeks; peak #1) 4TH WEEK AT #1! 2 1 Phildel - The Disappearance Of The Girl (2 weeks; peak #1) 3 10 Bethel Live - For The Sake Of The World (2 weeks; PEAK) 4 NEW Tangerine Dream - Force Majeure
ALBUM STREAM From 1979, this is the start of the propulsive electro-synth work that characterised their soundtracks - parts of this album turned up in the films Thief and Risky Business.
5 NEW Tangerine Dream - Exit
ALBUM STREAM 6 3 David Bowie - Earthling (2 weeks; peak #3) 7 4 David Bowie - Low (2 weeks; peak #4) 8 8 Karl Bartos - Off The Record (2 weeks; peak #8) 9 5 Phosphorescent - Muchacho (2 weeks; peak #5) 10 6 Caitlin Rose - The Stand-In (5 weeks; peak #2) 11 7 David Bowie - "Heroes" (2 weeks; peak #7) 12 9 Kraftwerk - Computer World (2 weeks; peak #9) 13 NEW Wire - Change Becomes Us
ALBUM STREAM Legendary post-punk/ indie/ synth band return with an album of unused songs from 1980-81 dusted off and reworked for 2013.
14 11 Daughter - If You Leave (2 weeks; peak #11) 15 NEW Leona Lewis - Echo
ALBUM STREAM I loved Spirit but the singles from this second album put me off. A shame as it's really good. A darn sight better than the current album.
16 12 David Bowie - Hours... (2 weeks; peak #12) 17 13 Kraftwerk - Trans Europe Express (2 weeks; peak #13) 18 14 Kraftwerk - The Man-Machine (2 weeks; peak #14) 19 NEW Tangerine Dream - White Eagle ALBUM STREAM 20 NEW Tangerine Dream - Thief (OST/ inspired by) ALBUM STREAM Michael Mann's 1981 film. Kavinsky (and the Drive soundtrack) owe everything to this and its ilk. Speaking of which...
21 20 Kavinsky - Outrun (5 weeks; peak #3) 22 NEW Massive Attack - Mezzanine ALBUM STREAM I bought 100th Window and several singles but never got round to getting the first three albums. Somehow (as a singles buyer) i wasn't convinced enough until album four. And i was right - the albums are quite inconsistent. This is the most "rock" of them (and more in line with the harder likes of Tricky and Portishead that i DID buy into) but it's not a patch on Window. And Elizabeth Fraser's voice is totally under-utilised (bar Teardrop) but then she usually is outside of Cocteau Twins.
23 19 Hurts - Exile (3 weeks; peak #3) 24 21 Stars - The North (3 weeks; peak #4) 25 22 Dido - Girl Who Got Away (4 weeks; peak #8) 26 16 Pulp - Separations (2 weeks; peak #16) 27 17 Kraftwerk - Radio-Activity (2 weeks; peak #17) 28 NEW Tangerine Dream - Rubycon ALBUM STREAM Their biggest UK album (#10 peak in 1975, contrary to the perpetuated error that Guinness Book of Hit Albums made when they made it a #12). This was the height of their progressive rock era - it was synth music but it was light, it was complex and it was very long. The other big hit was the preceding album...
29 NEW Tangerine Dream - Phaedra ALBUM STREAM I prefer the more exciting propulsive later TD.
30 26 Billy Bragg - Tooth and Nail (2 weeks; peak #26) 31 NEW Tangerine Dream - Hyperborea ALBUM STREAM 32 15 David Bowie - Outside (2 weeks; peak #15) 33 25 Bethel Music - The Loft Sessions (2 weeks; peak #25) 34 NEW Massive Attack - Blue Lines ALBUM STREAM 35 30 Worship Central - Let It Be Known (live) (3 weeks; peak #7) 36 27 Kraftwerk - Tour De France (2 weeks; peak #27) 37 NEW Tangerine Dream - Ricochet (live) ALBUM STREAM Their live albums are mainly brand new or improvised material.
38 NEW Tangerine Dream - Stratosfear ALBUM STREAM 39 45 Olafur Arnalds - For Now I Am Winter (4 weeks; peak #21) 40 NEW Rick Smith/ Various Artists - Trance (OST) ALBUM STREAM (most of it) Danny Boyle's new film (which i haven't yet seen). Smith was responsible for the outstanding London 2012 olympics music, of course. This also features an Emeli Sande song and previously released songs by Moby, UNKLE and M People(!).
41 NEW Leona Lewis - Glassheart ALBUM STREAM/ bonus track Fly Here Now link 42 NEW Massive Attack - Protection ALBUM STREAM 43 NEW Massive Attack - Heligoland ALBUM STREAM 44 NEW Tangerine Dream - Encore (live) ALBUM STREAM 45 NEW Tangerine Dream - Logos (live) ALBUM STREAM 46 NEW Tangerine Dream - Tangram ALBUM STREAM 47 39 Tom Waits - Bad As Me (3 weeks; peak #9) 48 18 David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars (2 weeks; peak #18) 49 62 Justin Timberlake - The 20/20 Experience (2 weeks; PEAK) 50 NEW Tangerine Dream - Sorcerer (OST) ALBUM STREAM William Friedkin's 1977 remake of The Wages Of Fear. Like Thief, this soundtrack was bigger than the film. As with many of their OST's this isn't on Spotify or Deezer (label/ rights issues). But YouTube comes to the rescue!
51 29 David Bowie - Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps) (2 weeks; peak #29) 52 23 David Bowie - The Man Who Sold The World (2 weeks; peak #23) 53 31 Kraftwerk - Autobahn (2 weeks; peak #31) 54 24 David Bowie - Hunky Dory (2 weeks; peak #24) 55 28 David Bowie - Space Oddity/ David Bowie (1969) (2 weeks; peak #28) 56 NEW Tangerine Dream - Cyclone ALBUM STREAM Much maligned 70's excursion into vocal work with Brit singer Steve Joliffe as a brief member. It's OK but i don't want Genesis, i want TD.
57 32 David Bowie - Young Americans (2 weeks; peak #32) 58 NEW Bobby Womack - The Bravest Man In The Universe ALBUM STREAM 59 41 Autre Ne Veut - Anxiety (5 weeks; peak #3) 60 NEW Tangerine Dream - Under Cover ALBUM STREAM Their most recent set is a covers album and vocalised. I have gone through most of their albums from the 1974 breakthrough to the last Virgin album and will pick up from there next week but i couldn't resist a listen to this. Just look at the songs! The Model, Heroes, Space Oddity, Forever Young you might expect. But Cohen's Hallelujah, Everybody Hurts and Norwegian Wood perhaps not! I'll let you decide which ones work.
61 42 Stereophonics - Graffiti On The Train (4 weeks; peak #4) 62 NEW The Strokes - Comedown Machine ALBUM STREAM A major synth infusion by Casablancas but they still can't write a chorus to save their lives. But at least it's not Depeche Mode's Delta Machine borefest.
63 33 David Bowie - Station To Station (2 weeks; peak #33) 64 34 Pulp - It (2 weeks; peak #34) 65 35 David Bowie - Aladdin Sane (2 weeks; peak #35)

ALBUM CHART
1 NEW Suzanne Vega - Songs In Red and Gray ALBUM STREAM Vega has a new live album out (see #45) and it caused me to listen to her catalogue. And what a surprising artist she is - more acerbic and daring than i thought. This was her 2001 divorce album and it's as bitter (while humourous) as that would suggest. It's her best album - sadly, it stiffed at #100 in UK as the media ignored her. 2 1 Plumb - Need You Now (6 weeks; peak #1) 3 NEW Suzanne Vega - Solitude Standing
ALBUM STREAM Her huge 1987 hit, featuring Luka and the original a cappella Tom's Diner. As well as a track that almost shares a name with a new album that enters this week (Night Vision).
4 NEW Suzanne Vega - Suzanne Vega
ALBUM STREAM 1985 debut - huge in UK.
5 NEW The Flaming Lips - The Terror
ALBUM STREAM A bit of a psychedelic classic (not a single in sight but that's not the point). The first Lips album i have heard all the way through. Helpfully includes the uninterrupted album as one track which helps those free-users who have to suffer advert interruptions on Spotify/ Deezer.
6 NEW Tangerine Dream - Le Parc
ALBUM STREAM 1985 set that features the Street Hawk TV theme - here called Le Parc (LA Streethawk). This theme was my first introduction to their music back when i was 11 (and i loved the TV show that sadly never took off). I've continued through their albums from 1983 to 1988 (including a bewildering TEN soundtracks - 5 of which are new this week!).
7 NEW Tangerine Dream - Finnegans Wake
ALBUM STREAM 2011 set but only uploaded to download/ stream sites this week. It's based on James Joyce's infamous poetic novel and is part of a Sonic Poem series (instrumentals inspired by the written word). After trudging through the increasingly new age late eighties albums (see #'s 56, 59) i was getting worried that nothing from the past two decades would be decent but happily this is them at their synth-tastic best - well, Edgar Froese at his best and the 5 or 6 people that now share the TD name. I haven't read Joyce's book but i can see from the Amazon excerpts that any attempt to translate it to another medium is quite foolhardy - The Flaming Lips' Heady Fwends album (see #17) more resembles the book's anarchic irreverence and rude humour. 8 4 Tangerine Dream - Force Majeure (2 weeks; peak #4) 9 2 Phildel - The Disappearance Of The Girl (3 weeks; peak #1) 10 3 Bethel Live - For The Sake Of The World (3 weeks; peak #3) 11 8 Karl Bartos - Off The Record (3 weeks; peak #8) 12 5 Tangerine Dream - Exit (2 weeks; peak #5) 13 9 Phosphorescent - Muchacho (3 weeks; peak #5) 14 NEW Suzanne Vega - 99.9F°
ALBUM STREAM The 1992 album that surprised fans with its nod to industrial music.
15 6 David Bowie - Earthling (3 weeks; peak #3) 16 10 Caitlin Rose - The Stand-In (6 weeks; peak #2) 17 NEW The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends - The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends ALBUM STREAM Bonkers recent set (some of which was previously released) featuring Nick Cave, Yoko Ono, Kesha, Erykah Badu and members of Bon Iver and Tame Impala.
18 7 David Bowie - Low (3 weeks; peak #4) 19 13 Wire - Change Becomes Us (2 weeks; peak #13) 20 NEW Suzanne Vega - Beauty and Crime ALBUM STREAM 2007 album - her most recent original set.
21 12 Kraftwerk - Computer World (3 weeks; peak #9) 22 NEW Tangerine Dream - The Park Is Mine (TV OST) ALBUM STREAM A 1986 HBO TV film starring Tommy Lee Jones as a Vietnam vet who takes over a park (i THINK i've seen it but can't remember). The album wasn't released until the early nineties. As with most of TD's soundtracks there is no iTunes release or official stream so it's thanks to YouTube user Sir Prancelot1 for all the uploads.
23 NEW Tangerine Dream - Legend (OST) ALBUM STREAM Ridley Scott's troubled and flawed epic from 1985 saw the Jerry Goldsmith score heard in the UK/ Europe version replaced by a TD commission for the US release which they put together in three and a half weeks! This recut version of the film was shown on UK TV twice (also includes the non-TD song Is Your Love Strong Enough by Bryan Ferry) but the CD is quite rare. I think most people would agree that the original film was better but the second score by TD outranks Goldsmith. We'll never get the perfect film though.
24 NEW Suzanne Vega - Nine Objects Of Desire ALBUM STREAM From which Plumb got her pseudonym (the song My Favorite Plum).
25 NEW Tangerine Dream - Firestarter (OST) ALBUM STREAM 1984 horror flick based on Stephen King novel starring a young Drew Barrymore - score is a lot better than the film.
26 NEW Tangerine Dream - Heartbreakers (OST) ALBUM STREAM 1985 drama starring Peter Coyote.
27 NEW Suzanne Vega - Days Of Open Hand ALBUM STREAM 28 15 Leona Lewis - Echo (2 weeks; peak #15) 29 14 Daughter - If You Leave (3 weeks; peak #11) 30 23 Hurts - Exile (4 weeks; peak #3) 31 21 Kavinsky - Outrun (6 weeks; peak #3) 32 24 Stars - The North (4 weeks; peak #4) 33 11 David Bowie - "Heroes" (3 weeks; peak #7) 34 25 Dido - Girl Who Got Away (5 weeks; peak #8) 35 NEW Tangerine Dream - Near Dark (OST) ALBUM STREAM Now this 1987 Kathryn Bigelow film is an absolute classic! One of the best vampire flicks ever. Score is not one of TD's best, though. They were beginning to lose it by this stage.
36 17 Kraftwerk - Trans Europe Express (3 weeks; peak #13) 37 16 David Bowie - Hours... (3 weeks; peak #12) 38 18 Kraftwerk - The Man-Machine (3 weeks; peak #14) 39 19 Tangerine Dream - White Eagle (2 weeks; peak #19) 40 20 Tangerine Dream - Thief (OST/ inspired by) (2 weeks; peak #20) 41 27 Kraftwerk - Radio-Activity (3 weeks; peak #17) 42 30 Billy Bragg - Tooth and Nail (3 weeks; peak #26) 43 39 Olafur Arnalds - For Now I Am Winter (5 weeks; peak #21) This is hanging around as i use it to fill in the intrusive ad breaks during ITV's Broadchurch (soundtracked by Arnalds). Three more weeks of it coming. Still no sign of the actual soundtrack being released.
44 26 Pulp - Separations (3 weeks; peak #16) 45 NEW Suzanne Vega - Solitude Standing Live At The Barbican ALBUM STREAM Recorded last year in York to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original album, this features the entire album live as well as a set of other songs and some inter-song banter and stories (there's a very funny one about a nervous Prince turning up to a gig just to hear Luka). I've not listened all the way through yet so it may well climb - i got sidetracked, as you can see!
46 NEW Various Artists - Songs For Tibet - The Art Of Peace ALBUM STREAM 2008 awareness album for troubled area. Features exclusive reworkings/ rare cuts by Imogen Heap, Underworld, Garbage, Suzanne Vega (yes, that's how i got here!), Regina Spektor, Moby and others. The Underworld track is lovely and poignant and similar to their Olympics work.
47 28 Tangerine Dream - Rubycon (2 weeks; peak #28) 48 NEW Jason Becker - Perspective ALBUM STREAM This guy's story is amazing. As a teen, he garnered acclaim as a shred-metal guitarist (a sort of neo-classical instrumental rock similar to Joe Satriani and Steve Vai) and even became David Lee Roth's guitarist on his 1991 album A Little Ain't Enough. Sadly, just as he was about to go on tour with DLR, he became ill with what they later learned was amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and he was given three to five years to live. He lost the mobility in his entire body but never stopped recording. This album was made by the aid of a computer system that his father created that Becker controlled with eye movements. While he could no longer play, he could "conduct" his musicians and singers that appear on the album (released in 1996). The work is eclectic to say the least - metal, classical, baroque, folk, blues (and a Bob Dylan song sung by Journey's Steve Perry). Becker's story is recounted in the fascinating documentary film Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet (which he isn't!). FILM TRAILER His shred-metal albums (including two as part of the duo Cacophony) aren't on stream sites as yet (though i just spotted Perpetual Burn on YouTube so maybe that will chart next week).
49 29 Tangerine Dream - Phaedra (2 weeks; peak #29) 50 35 Worship Central - Let It Be Known (live) (4 weeks; peak #7) 51 33 Bethel Music - The Loft Sessions (3 weeks; peak #25) 52 NEW Imagine Dragons - Night Visions ALBUM STREAM/ Bonus track Fallen There's not a single bad track on this (out of 21 songs in total, including EP and other added tracks) but it just doesn't excite me.
53 NEW Ren Harvieu - Through The Night ALBUM STREAM 54 NEW Tangerine Dream - Poland - The Warsaw Concert ALBUM STREAM Don't go for the official stream as it is a cut/ altered/ inferior version.
55 32 David Bowie - Outside (3 weeks; peak #15) 56 NEW Tangerine Dream - Underwater Sunlight ALBUM STREAM 57 NEW Crystal Bowersox - All That For This ALBUM STREAM 58 NEW Tyler, The Creator - Wolf ALBUM STREAM (explicit) 59 NEW Tangerine Dream - Tyger ^ ALBUM STREAM 60 31 Tangerine Dream - Hyperborea (2 weeks; peak #31)

3 NEW Hefner - The Day That Thatcher Dies (Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead) FAN VIDEO
I wish it was THIS song they were buying in droves (it's top 75 on Amazon downloads) . a 2000 jolly indie song that sums up the general feeling in the music industry and most of popular culture towards Mrs T - it uses more of Ding-Dong! than any of the Oz versions do!

73 43 Martin Smith - Back To The Start (God's Great Dance Floor) (7 weeks; peak #9) 74 NEW Jessie Ware and Sampha - Valentine VIDEO 2011 single. I'm finally charting it as i have it on CD (my copy of Devotion - The Gold Edition arrived today) and i'm (almost) won over.
75 NEW (The) Notsensibles - I'm In Love With Margaret Thatcher AUDIO A little-known punk band from Lancashire (they got to #8 in the Indie(pendent) Chart in 1980 when the chart was in its infancy) now suddenly find themselves in a chart battle with a Wizard Of Oz song! Originally self-released to coincide with "Maggie T"'s election as Prime Minister in 1979 and reissued due to demand in 1980 on Snotty Snail Records (!), the song was an ironic sneer rather than a stamp of approval. And they didn't even know the half of what was to come! I never thought i'd see this in the top ten. My placing is just to concede its existence, there are far better old comedy punk songs that deserve attention.

ALBUM CHART
1 NEW Paramore - Paramore DEEZER STREAM SPOTIFY STREAM What, that fairly average (bar a couple of standout singles) mewling Christian emo pop-rock band at #1?? Really?? Yes, and the UK agrees resoundingly. This is bursting with a joy and an energised new eclectic pop sound. It's 17 tracks but doesn't seem long. Highlights include Grow Up, Ain't It Fun? and Anklebiters.
2 NEW M83 - Oblivion (OST)
DEEZER STREAM SPOTIFY STREAM Fantastic score from new Tom Cruise sci-fi film which i've not seen yet. There's also a longer download version out now and a CD out next week.
3 3 Plumb - Need You Now (7 weeks; peak #1) 4 1 Suzanne Vega - Songs In Red and Gray (2 weeks; peak #1) 5 NEW The Knife - Deep Cuts
DEEZER STREAM SPOTIFY STREAM 2003 album. Back when they were a more poppy dancefloor act (includes club hit Heartbeats).

DEEZER STREAM SPOTIFY STREAM Swede's 2011 debut album. Sounds like Robyn.

SPOTIFY STREAM I bought their brilliant 1994 album Dubnobasswithmyheadman but their subsequent work didn't convince me - so now i'm catching up. 12 4 Suzanne Vega - Suzanne Vega (2 weeks; peak #4) 13 5 The Flaming Lips - The Terror (2 weeks; peak #5) 14 9 Phildel - The Disappearance Of The Girl (4 weeks; peak #1) 15 6 Tangerine Dream - Le Parc (2 weeks; peak #6) 16 11 Karl Bartos - Off The Record (4 weeks; peak #8) 17 7 Tangerine Dream - Finnegans Wake (2 weeks; peak #7) 18 8 Tangerine Dream - Force Majeure (3 weeks; peak #4) 19 NEW Mindy Smith - Stupid Love DEEZER STREAM SPOTIFY STREAM Loved her debut, second was OK, catching up on 3rd (this one) and 4th by the folk/ country singer.
20 RE Jessie Ware - Devotion (23 weeks; peak #1) 21 NEW Mindy Smith - Mindy Smith DEEZER STREAM SPOTIFY STREAM
22 NEW Underworld - A Hundred Days Off SPOTIFY STREAM 23 13 Phosphorescent - Muchacho (4 weeks; peak #5) 24 16 Caitlin Rose - The Stand-In (7 weeks; peak #2) 25 19 Wire - Change Becomes Us (3 weeks; peak #13) 26 34 Dido - Girl Who Got Away (6 weeks; peak #8) 27 12 Tangerine Dream - Exit (3 weeks; peak #5) 28 30 Hurts - Exile (5 weeks; peak #3) 29 31 Kavinsky - Outrun (7 weeks; peak #3) 30 NEW Underworld - Barking DEEZER STREAM SPOTIFY STREAM 31 32 Stars - The North (5 weeks; peak #4) 32 28 Leona Lewis - Echo (3 weeks; peak #15) 33 29 Daughter - If You Leave (4 weeks; peak #11) 34 42 Billy Bragg - Tooth and Nail (4 weeks; peak #26) 35 15 David Bowie - Earthling (4 weeks; peak #3) 36 14 Suzanne Vega - 99.9F° (2 weeks; peak #14) 37 NEW M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming DEEZER STREAM (includes bonus disc) SPOTIFY STREAM (includes bonus disc) So i bought Saturdays=Youth, this is too bland in comparison. Have yet to catch up on previous albums.
38 21 Kraftwerk - Computer World (4 weeks; peak #9) 39 18 David Bowie - Low (4 weeks; peak #4) 40 20 Suzanne Vega - Beauty and Crime (2 weeks; peak #20) 41 NEW Sarah Brightman - Dreamchaser DEEZER STREAM SPOTIFY STREAM The song Closer is a fantastic chillout reworking of the melodic theme from Tubular Bells and she also does a grand version of the moving Lento E Largo from Gorecki's Symphony #3 but in general it's just your average pop-classical covers album.
42 17 The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends - The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends (2 weeks; peak #17) 43 33 David Bowie - "Heroes" (4 weeks; peak #7) 44 NEW Jason Becker - Perpetual Burn YOUTUBE STREAM Following last week's Perspective this is his 1988 album of shred metal that influenced so many guitarists before his illness set in.
45 45 Suzanne Vega - Solitude Standing Live At The Barbican (2 weeks; peak #45) 46 36 Kraftwerk - Trans Europe Express (4 weeks; peak #13) 47 38 Kraftwerk - The Man-Machine (4 weeks; peak #14) 48 10 Bethel Live - For The Sake Of The World (4 weeks; peak #3) 49 37 David Bowie - Hours... (4 weeks; peak #12) 50 46 Various Artists - Songs For Tibet - The Art Of Peace (2 weeks; peak #46) 51 NEW Underworld - Second Toughest In The Infants SPOTIFY STREAM I'm stunned at just how ropey this follow-up to the amazing Dubnobass... is. All those people who got it on the back of Born Slippy (later added as a bonus track) must have been bemused at the lack of thrust and anything memorable. Pearl's Girl, Rowla and Confusion The Waitress are all that is good.
52 NEW The Knife - Shaking The Habitual DEEZER STREAM SPOTIFY STREAM :x The brand new album. To say it's hard work is an understatement. I like Wrap Your Arms Around Me.
53 43 Olafur Arnalds - For Now I Am Winter (6 weeks; peak #21) 54 44 Pulp - Separations (4 weeks; peak #16) 55 22 Tangerine Dream - The Park Is Mine (TV OST) (2 weeks; peak #22) 56 23 Tangerine Dream - Legend (OST) (2 weeks; peak #23) 57 24 Suzanne Vega - Nine Objects Of Desire (2 weeks; peak #24) 58 25 Tangerine Dream - Firestarter (OST) (2 weeks; peak #25) 59 26 Tangerine Dream - Heartbreakers (OST) (2 weeks; peak #26) 60 35 Tangerine Dream - Near Dark (OST) (2 weeks; peak #35)
