A brilliant and emotional victory that sees him finally realise the potential he showed as a 17-year-old when he pitched in on the final hole to tie for 4th place in the Open.
He's the third UK winner of the US Open in four years, the first English major winner since Nick Faldo won the Masters in 1996, and the first English winner of the US Open since Tony Jacklin in 1970.

Great achievement. He held his nerve on the final day, when all around him lost their's.
Early contender for SPOTY, although all bets are off if Andy Murray converts his success at Queen's into a Wimbledon victory.

It probably puts him in front for SPOTY but there's still plenty more contenders to come - Murray at Wimbledon and the US Open; the World Athletics Championships; Chris Froome in the Tour de France; the Ashes...

Rose certainly kept his nerve in the final round which unfortunately Luke Donald doesn't seem to be able to do.
LOL at all the hoo-ha about an Englishman winning. We've had two Northern Irishmen win it in the past few years. Grahame McDowell in particular didn't get an awful lot of publicity.
I don't think Frome winning the Tour de France would evoke the same public response that Wiggins did.
Very apprehensive at how the Brits will do at the World Athletics Champs. Apart from the 3 Golds they didn't do that well at the Olympics.
