Has anyone watched any of the new Fifteen To One so far? I always loved this show, but there are 2 things that are annoying me about the new version.
Firstly, I find new host Sandi Toksvig and her lame attempts at humour somewhat grating, and secondly, the fact that the running time has been doubled, without actually adding anything, except a whole lot of padding.

I used to really enjoy this when it aired originally in the 80s, although some of the questions seemed way over my head at the time (and probably still are even now) The back and forth of how the contestants tried to eliminate each other was probably more entertaining!
I didn't realise it had been brought back but caught the last five or ten minutes of it the other day. The final round of three seemed to go on forever, I seem to recall it being more tense before. I think Sandi Toksvig's OK generally but from the bit I saw she didn't seem to add much to this.
A bit bored of quiz shows tbh, I used to really enjoy Pointless, but the BBC just seem to have flogged it death.

I also agree that this did seem more quickfire/rapid in the past and now seems more drawn out. Still enjoyable, but prefer the old format!

Yeah, they did a celebrity version and that was full of padding as well, why did Sandi need to stop mid round and a round up of who had 2 or 3 lives etc? It's great to see it back, but it could easily be cut to 45 mins and still be good. £40k as the winners prize as well, blooming heck, I'm sure it was never that high before, it was also 15 new contestants each day, whereas you get to come back now if you dont make the final 3? I shall probably watch 1 ep a week to keep an eye on the leaderboard. Sam in forms me that in the first ep, the young goth looking girl was on Take Me Out? Bit of a tv whore then...

Yes, it could easily be cut to 45 minutes without losing anything. No doubt the round up is the sort of thing that can be cut if the second or third round goes on for longer. That was always the problem with the format. The length of the contest itself can vary a great deal.
The prize used to be some artefact which may well have been worth a fair bit of money although certainly not 40 grand. Now you even get a trophy for winning a single programme.

Sandi Toksvig's OK but I preferred Adam Hills, who did the celebrity version. I think the rules regarding TV ads are different now compared to when it used to be on - ie more ad time is allowed per hour, so they either have to pad it out to fit an hour slot or rush through it a bit to fit a shorter slot.

So how did you get on Suedey, and do we have youtube evidence of it? I went out in the first round I had a question on American history and on musical scales. I guessed an answer to both questions but, unfortunately, guessed wrongly. Some of the other questions were annoyingly easy such as which football team plays home matches at White Hart Lane.

It is a ridiculously short series.

There are 19 heats but I take your point
I presume they wanted to test the water, if they go ahead with another series I suspect the number of shows will increase

Can't really watch this but have been this week since The Chase isn't on and Pointless is repeats.
There seems to be quite a huge slice of luck involved - obviously the deeper you go it gets more even but the it's a case of pot luck in the first couple of rounds.
I know the old saying is that questions are only easy if you know the answer but ones like Who designed St Pauls Cathedral? and which President of the US did Marilyn Monroe sing Happy Birthday to? makes the degree of difficulty questionable.
If you just happen to be on the wrong podium at the wrong time..............................

I assume they throw in some really easy questions just to make sure they don't eliminate too many people in the first round.
In the old show a contestant couldn't nominate the person who had just nominated them but they have done away with this rule. I'm sure that has increased the chances of somebody getting to the final without being asked a single question in the second round (as happened yesterday).

It should reduce the number of lucky winners who get to the final.

This series has definitely benefited from being longer. However, I'm still sure the questions are easier. The original show used to see five or six people (or more) eliminated in the first round almost every programme. In this series the norm has been three or four eliminations.
