How did you get from an art college to working with industrial gases? Another very good question. Thing is, I didn't study art, I studied Journalism, although I realise that the question still stands... Essentially, via very low wage / no wage journalism offers, 8 months of night shifts stacking boxes in the warehouse of a breakfast cereal factory, and a recruitment agency who said they'd find me some admin.

helium is amazing for medical science though, as apposed to it's other use, namely single mothers wasting it because they think making 200 balloons float a bit will make up for the kids father being driven away by their intolerable personality Helium is a commercial headache, with a global shortage leaving unpleasant decisions to be made about whether to make a fortune selling it to card shops for the aforementioned single Mums or to make an almost non existant profit selling it to the NHS so their MRI scanners work and they can carry on saving people's lives.

Have you watched any of the World Cup? If so, who would you nominate as the best player of the tournament thus far? None at all, sorry! I don't think I could even name anyone who played! I'm sure they all did very well...

What is your favourite toe? Davidstow, near Camelford in Cornwall. Lovely place, now best known for its rather bland cheese

Felt like I ought to put a post in here somewhere about my future on Haven, it's under jeopardy due to some major life changes over the next few weeks.
Thing is, I am being made redundant, I finish next week. No need to feel sorry for me though - I get a load of money, and have found another job too, I start in late April.
The reason I mention it here is that my time on Haven has been largely supported by the lifestyle that my old job forced me into, in particular many lonely nights away from home in hotels. I think every single review I have done for Gezza's 1980s threads has been brought to you via Holiday Inn wi-fi. My new job is based in one location half an hour from home, so my days on the road are over. Haven's loss will of course be Mrs Fatman and the two young Fatman's gain.
Also, my iPhone and laptop are both company property, so when I hand those back next week I will be entirely cut off from the digital world for at least a couple of weeks, save walking to the library. I might buy myself a laptop actually, never even owned my own before.
Anyway, in the unlikely event that anyone misses me, I just thought I would explain that I am not dead or sulking, just getting on with other stuff. I will miss Haven a lot, and will still try to pop in every now and then when I get chance.
Stay happy
Cheers

We will miss you a lot. So don't go. 15 minutes a couple of times a week - surely that's no too much to ask ! Anyway, enjoy the new job, and all the extra time you get with your family.

Congratulations on the new job but don't use that as an excuse not to drop in here occasionally.
Is your new job still granny farming?

Congrats on the new job. Eerily similar to my own circumstances having gone through redundancy last year and now about to start something much closer to home. It's kind of nice when things turn out well in these situations.

Time has flown by since you changed jobs. How have you been mate. And can I send you any tunes Hi Mic / Everyone! Jeepers, I’ve not been in this thread for a while, lots has changed. I did 12 months in the Aerospace industry (the job I mentioned above). It was fine but a Management Consultancy came after me with an offer I struggled to refuse, so I took that and the extra cash meant Mrs Fatman could give up work and spend more time with the kids. Now I travel a lot again but it’s all good, and I’ve got more Haven time than ever before. On a personal level, things have not been so good. Emotionally and health wise 2017 has been a particularly sh*t year, but things are improving and the big news is our third (and most definitely final) baby is on the way, due date is tomorrow! I have got a few track requests now you mention it! I’ve had the first 1000 UK number ones on CD for years and I’m finally getting round to digitising them. I’ve found some are not the radio versions, if you could help me out that would be brilliant. Can you believe the radio version of (Everything I Do) I Do It For You is not available to download? Madness, you can only get the album version with 3 minutes of instrumental stuck on the end. I’ll PM you a list! Cheers!

Have you or would you go to a school reunion? I was considering it once, so I asked the same question of my Facebook friends and got this brilliant answer from a former colleague: Reasons for attending school reunions and % attendance Nosey f***er, good opportunity to get gossip on people they hardly know - 20% Alcoholic, reason to drink - 10% Have done very well in life and want to tell all their old friends all about it 25% Sexual predator looking to get laid - 30% Still in love with their girlfriend from year 12 - 5% No friends in adult life - opportunity to talk to someone - 10%
