Not enough that Chas & Dave entered the top 75 there, The Firm also do with Arthur Daley (E's Alright) and it was 10 years too early for 'E' in that title to mean ecstasy.
I will be posting my chart soon. I am not able at this point to see how good Tygers of Pan Tang were and whether or not I should have charted them. The Damned without their captain are just outside the top 40 but I didn't chart that either at the time, and I'll stick with what I charted for now given it's the 3 weeks.

I will have to find an appropriate week and skip one of my charts, as I am week behind. That will probably happen at some point in August when the chart slows down a bit. As for this week, it's out with many of the old and in with 6 new ones. 1(1) Roxy Music - Avalon (2nd week at #1) 2(2) Shakatak - Streetwalkin 3(5) Captain Sensible - Happy Talk 4(4) Steve Miller Band - Abracadabra 5(12) Bucks Fizz - Now Those Days Are Gone 6(8) Air Supply - Even The Nights Are Better 7(3) Soft Cell - Torch 8(6) Odyssey - Inside Out 9(13) Shalamar - A Night To Remember 10(9) Dollar - Videotheque 11(10) Stevie Wonder - Do I Do 12(-) Hot Chocolate - It Started With A Kiss 13(7) Madness - House Of Fun 14(-) Paul McCartney - Take It Away 15(16) Imagination - Music And Lights 16(-) David Essex - Me And My Girl (Nightclubbing) 17(-) Japan - I Second That Emotion 18(-) Visage - Night Train 19(11) ABC - The Look Of Love 20(-) Clash - Rock The Casbah This is the equivalent UK chart when "Fame" crashed in at #4. But as I mentioned I took that off the US chart 2 years earlier and took Air Supply of the current US chart. Happy Talk climbs to #3 and lower down another classic cover enters the chart which I will come to in turn. Hot Chocolate had "Girl Crazy" in the top 10 earlier in the year. That song focused on girls in general, this one about a particular girl and tells a story about how his childhood sweetheart had left him heartbroken as they grew older and she went off him. Paul McCartney's duet with Stevie Wonder was a commercial success but for critical acclaim, Take It Away is back on form sounding similar to the kind of early solo music he made, a bit in the style of "Another Day". Both of these to be found on the album "Tug Of War". David Essex in next. Still a consistent hitmaker and got to #13 in the UK chart. At one point in the song he sings "heavy heavy sound of pop music". I sometimes think of this when I go on about how "pop" music in the past wasn't considered demeaning as a term. Japan had been around for a few years but seemed to finally break in 1981 and a time when bands would release an occasional cover version. This is of course a cover of Smokey Robinson & The Miracles from the 1960s recorded originally on the Motown label. I seem to recall Steve Strange and David Sylvian collaborated at some point and Visage who were Steve Strange's band here enter just behind Japan. The Clash prop up at the rear with a song that also charts in 1991. They've also recorded a couple of cover versions in their time, most notably "I Fought The Law" in 1979 (and also "Police On My Back", originally by the Equals) and had hits with "London Calling" and "Bankrobber". For those who like to say the Clash made songs with very meaningful lyrics, what exactly is this song about? A Casbah appears to be some kind of shelter. See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kasbah

Brilliant guys, a few charts already there, the more we have the better I think but even with just a handful we are producing a decent Combi Chart each week. I'll post mine later this week.

Well it is still going. There will be one week in August when I'm going to post 2 charts to catch up and you can use either the 2nd chart or an average of them for the combi-chart. I think it would be nice though to not skip one.
