A former triathlete who wanted his kids to see him on TV decided to catch up to the elite competitors and take the lead for the first mile of the Boston Marathon. Derek Yorek, bridged a 20-yard gap between the second wave of runners and the elite runners and led the race, completing the first mile in 4 minutes 38 seconds before dropping back and completing the race in just over 3 hours. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/athletics/32452066
