Oh dear. Looks like we upset them a bit by winning the first Test.

Session-by-session:
DAY 2
Morning: Aus 87-2 (Australia continue their steady progress despite skipper Clarke failing. Australia's session) Afternoon: Aus 138-4 (England's bowlers show some fight but the Aussies pile on the runs to put themselves in a commanding position with 700 possible if they can bat out the day. Australia's session) Evening: Aus 4-1d, England 85-4 (Instead, they just face one over after tea before declaring and England's top order collapses alarmingly, leaving them a mountain to climb to save the test. Australia's session)

DAY 3
Morning: Eng 96-1 (Stokes out just before lunch but still an important session as they looked to avoid the follow-on. England's session) Afternoon: Eng 104-2 (Cook out agonisingly short of a hundred but England's resistance continues. England's session) Evening: Eng 27-3ao, Aus 108-0 (England's resolve ends abruptly as the tail is quickly wiped out, still 254 runs behind. Australia don't enforce the follow-on and instead pile on the runs before the close. Australia's session)

DAY 4
Morning: Aus 146-2d, Eng 7-0 (Australia take the lead beyond 500 and Chris Rogers retiring after a dizzy spell was more worrying than anything England's bowlers had to offer. Australia's session) Afternoon: Eng 57-5 (England's top order capitulate in embarrassing fashion again and the result is now in no doubt. Australia's session) Evening: Eng 39-5ao (England are bowled out for just 103 and Australia complete a crushing 405-run victory to level the series and take a huge momentum swing to Edgbastion. Australia's session)
MATCH TOTAL: ENGLAND 2-10 AUSTRALIA (3 sessions not required)
SERIES TOTAL: ENGLAND 11-13 AUSTRALIA (6 sessions not required)

Ouch! - you can't just blame it on Australia winning the toss.
That last innings batting by England on a flat pitch was abysmal.

3rd test, session-by-session:
DAY 1
Morning: Aus 72-3 (A rain interrupted morning but with three wickets, including two for Finn in his first test for two years, mean it's England's session) Afternoon: Aus 64-7ao, Eng 7-0 (Oh Jimmy Jimmy! Anderson bowls one of the best innings of his career, steaming his way through the Aussie line-up as the tourists are dismissed for just 136. England's session) Evening: Eng 126-3 (England almost wipe out the Aussie lead in one session, and despite another Lyth failure and Bell giving his wicket away after making 50, England are well on top. England's session)
DAY 2
Morning: Eng 88-4 (Mitchell Johnson bounces Australia back into the game as England's lead threatens to be nowhere near as big as they were hoping. Australia's session) Afternoon: Eng 60-3ao, Aus 73-2 (A strong rearguard action from Ali and Broad helps England to a 1st innings lead of 145, then two vital wickets keep the advantage with the home side. England's session) Evening: Aus 95-5 (Australian wickets tumble again and for a while an innings defeat inside two days looks possible. The Aussies dig in and make it to the close with a narrow lead but only three wickets left standing. An England victory looks almost certain from this position. England's session)

DAY 3
Morning: Aus 97-3ao, Eng 4-0 (Really, Australia needed to make it to lunch to stand any chance. They nearly got there and did manage more than England were hoping for, even without Jimmy Anderson, but with only 117 to get after lunch, it has to be England's session) Afternoon: Eng 120-2 (Although the openers are both dismissed, Bell and Root do a superb job of guiding England home to take a 2-1 lead in the series. England's session)
MATCH TOTAL: ENGLAND 7-1 AUSTRALIA (7 sessions not required)
SERIES TOTAL: ENGLAND 18-14 AUSTRALIA (13 sessions not required)

Brilliant, but losing Anderson could be key now...

Rubbish from England. Allowing them to score 60 after being 36 for 7 is a disgrace.

Rubbish from England. Allowing them to score 60 after being 36 for 7 is a disgrace. Not as bas as SA, allowing them to get to 46 after being 21 for 9! (On the day which started in the 1st innings of the test, and ended in the 4th)

Only other spell of bowling I remember better than this was Harmison v West Indies 7-12 and Devon Malcolm v South Africa years ago think he got 9 -50 or something.

England lead by 214 after day one with six first innings wickets remaining. Here are some Australian dogs: To a well known Dolly Parton song: "Joe Root, Joe Root, Joe Root, Joe Rooo-ooottt..."

4th test, session-by-session:
DAY 1
Morning: Aus 60-10ao, Eng 13-0 (So how would England fare without Jimmy? Not bad, as it turns out. Possibly the worst 93 minutes in the history of Australian test cricket, all out for 60, 8 wickets for Broad and the Ashes already as good as home. England's session) Afternoon: Eng 86-3 (3 wickets for the Aussies but against the backdrop of the morning, it means absolutely nothing. England already have a 1st innings lead and are cruising. England's session) Evening: Eng 175-1 (No impact for the Aussie bowlers. A majestic century for Root. The Ashes could well be won tomorrow. England's session)
