I know cricket doesn't get generate much interest here at Haven. But we have football, tennis, motor racing and snooker threads, so here's one for cricket.

Twenty20 World Cup started its final phase in India yesterday, with a surprise victory for New Zealand against the hosts.
Today sees England against the West Indies, in a match we really have to win.
England's T20 game has blown hot and cold recently. The team is an exciting one, and we could reach the Semi-Finals.

I try to keep an eye on the cricket, been a mixed bag the last 12 months in the test team, but they do seem to be on the up. Limited overs, I don't think we are good enough, but I'm happy to be proved wrong.

6 wicket win for the West Indies, with 11 balls to spare. I thought we'd posted a decent total, but Chris Gayle came in and clobbered 100 not out from 48 balls.
South Africa next, on Friday.

Spectacular win for England, chasing down 320 to beat South Africa. Afghanistan and Sri Lanka to come...

Spectacular win for England, chasing down 320 to beat South Africa. Afghanistan and Sri Lanka to come... It was indeed a spectacular win, with a dramatic climax as England lost 2 wickets in the last over. Fortunately they were only chasing 230, and not 320 !

Another exciting T20 game for England. Batting first against the minnows from Afghanistan, England collapsed to 42-4 and then 57-6, before Moeen Ali gave our bowlers a chance by scoring 41 not out.
England's bowling was both aggressive and economical. They picked up wickets steadily, and never allowed Afghanistan to get going, eventually winning by 15 runs.
Afghanistan will be disappointed. This could easily have been their biggest victory in any sporting contest ever.
England still (probably) need to beat Sri Lanka to proceed in the tournament.

Sensational finish to the India vs Bangladesh game.
Bangladesh needed 2 runs from the last 3 balls to win. And India took a wicket with each ball - two glory shots giving catches, and then a run out - to win by 1 run. Scenes of euphoria in India. Not so good in Bangladesh.

Having beaten Sri Lanka, with a cool last over by Ben Stokes, England are into the semi-finals, where they will play New Zealand. India versus West Indies is the other semi-final. Which means both Australia and South Africa are on their way home.
England's Women won their group, and play Australia in the semi-final.
Both the men's and women's games are on Wednesday.

It's been a great tournament so far, I'm hooked! There are a number of interested Indians at work, so I was rooting for them to beat the Aussies. 3pm starts from now on means that the men's games will finish just too late for me to catch the end and also catch my usual train home Edit: actually, they start at 2.30, so I'll be alright

England beat New Zealand by 7 wickets to reach final of Men's World T20.
Women agomisingly lost to Australia by 5 runs in their semi. At one stage they were well on top but a middle order batting collapse saw their run rate dwindle.

Sensational result by the men. Great bowling and great batting.
Pity the women fell short. They were looking good for much of the match.

New Zealand's exit means that the tournament is guaranteed to be won by a team that has won the World Twenty20 before (currently India, Pakistan, England, WI and Sri Lanka each have 1 win).

The test series against Sri Lanka is proving to be rather one-sided so far. In the first test Sri Lanka's so core in each innings was lower than England's highest individual first innings scorer. Barring an extraordinary recovery, their first innings in this test looks like making it three in a row.
