It's starting to look good now for Newcastle. Can see them walking the league I'll be happy just as long as we get promoted!

I've just read some interesting match facts - the 6-0 win is our biggest away win in 54 years. And it is QPR's all time biggest home defeat in the league, matching a 6-0 defeat against Arsenal in the FA Cup in 2001.

How long will Hasselbaink stay in the job? Another example of a manager leaving a smaller team (Burton) to move to a bigger team and then getting sacked, remember the same happening with Paul Ince as well.

It's starting to look good now for Newcastle. Can see them walking the league I'd be amazed if they didn't go up, I think the points record is under threat. Will also be interesting to see how many goals they get as the 106 Reading team of 2006 (which fell just short of 100) didn't put 6 past anybody. Whilst we hit the post when we thumped Derby 5-0 that season to clinch the title it seems the score flattered QPR the other night, lucky it wasn't at least 7, and our game against Derby was at home.

Losing at the moment today though, be interesting to see what the final score is. Anyone know the rules on artificial pitches, are they actually allowed in the football league, I thought not, but Sutton United have one and Harrogate Town do, so assume you wouldn't install one if it stopped you getting into the football league. Just surprised no-one has one in the football league, especially Newport with their overused pitch! I know they have them in Scotland, but obviously the weather is worse up there!

Must have jinxed Newcastle, I remember around Easter starting to seriously think Northampton might well break the points record but that was when their challenge basically ended. I was wondering that about the artificial pitches when I mentioned it before. Don't know about the clubs you mention, but I seriously doubt Eastbourne have any football league ambitions, same for Maidenhead when they get theirs in 2017, just discovered that Slough also have one at their new ground and would probably say the same for them. Maidstone on the other hand maybe different.

After googling to check about Maidenhead, it looks like, as I suspected, they were banned by football league clubs in February 2015.

The Football League banned them in 1995. There was a vote in 2014 on their re-introduction and it finished tied so at the moment they're still banned but now they're allowed in the Conference, as well as in European and international fixtures, I think it's only a matter of time before they're allowed again.

In other news, Joey Barton has been suspended by Rangers for three weeks due to inappropriate comments he made last week to a fellow team mate following the 5-1 thrashing by Celtic.
I did think Rangers signing Barton was a rather silly idea as I wondered how long it would take before he caused chaos. The answer is... it didn't take him too long to get into trouble!
At least he hasn't put out a cigar on a fellow player's eyelid this time. Though calling someone a "wee little orange man" wasn't perhaps the best way to endear yourself to your team mates... especially at Rangers!

Over the summer, they've had problems with the pitch over previous seasons, so seems a wise investment, and if they can get it used all year round, I assume it will make them some money back.

I think that's the thinking behind Maidenhead wanting it too. They may have had work done on the pitch in recent years, but there was a time when it seemed any rain would mean a match would be postponed. I think the 3g/4g surface will also get used by others as well, and I think Maidstone's isn't just used by the club so clubs probably think whatever money they put in they will get back. They were planning on getting it installed this summer, as I thought, but have had to put it back a year because it's a difficult job.

Joey Barton is in more trouble - twice over!
First up he's not endeared himself to the Rangers supporters by saying he wished he'd never moved to Rangers. In his own words "I'm an idiot for going there. What was I thinking".
Second up, and more seriously, he's looking at a suspension from Scottish football as he's been suspected of gambling on football games. And betting on Celtic too. I do like the bloke - after serving his prison sentence when at Newcastle he did actually play some decent football for the club - but he's an absolute idiot...

It's not looking good for West Ham. Another week, another defeat. They seem to be (partially at least) suffering from "new stadium syndrome". Didn't Arsenal have a similar problem at first when they moved from Highbury to the Emirates or have I imagined that? As I like both the club and manager I hope they can pull it around

I knew Arsenal had a few less than excellent results at first when they moved to the Emirates but couldn't remember the exact details. How many games did you draw before your first win?

Only one in all competitions, but two in the league. Our first few results were: 1-1 v Aston Villa, 2-1 v Dinamo Zagreb, 1-1 v Middlesbrough, 3-0 v Sheffield United. The West Ham loss came in April. Then we didn't lose at home in any competition in 2007-08 (28 games), but three successive home draws in the spring (coincidentally, we again drew with Villa and Middlesbrough) cost us the title.
