HAVEN COMBI RETRO-CHART FOR W/B 9th DECEMBER 1984
For only the second time in Retro Chart history we have a new entry go in at number one. Following Duran Duran’s instant number one in April with ‘The Reflex’, charity supergroup Band Aid debut at the top with ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’
The victory wasn’t as clear cut as in the Official Chart though, it was a very close battle with outgoing number one ‘The Riddle’, with only four points between the two songs. In the run up to Christmas can Band Aid consolidate their lead?
Wham! enter at number 7 with ‘Last Christmas’, and also further down the chart at number 21 with ‘Everything She Wants’
There’s also a huge climb for another Christmas song as Gary Glitter moves 24 places with ‘Another Rock and Roll Christmas’
