As is usual, I will put * next to the song if it was in the chart in 2015 and ** if it was in the final chart. As I run through this, the early charts of 2017 will get compiled but it won't be possible to add in the scores. I do however show what the combined 2015-16 scores were.
256 Metropolis - 100 Fables 255 The Cover Band - Kris Klark 254 Hello Summer - Rameez 253 Run - Coconut Kids 252 Sunday Love - Bat For Lashes 251 Monsters Ball - Higgleoos * 250 Coz It's Christmas Time - Mariachis 249 Two Tickets (To Stetsonsmania) - Stetsons Electric 248 I Wanna Be Loved By You - Daniela Katzenberger & Lucas Cordalis 247 Daddy's Gun - Child Of Cecilia 246 A Love Song - Ladyhawke 245 Die For Rock N' Roll - Double Crush Syndrome 244 Playground - High Dive Heart 243 Mother Of Flame - Miracle Of Sound 242 My Perfect Situation - Abby K 241 Quit You - Nice Tiger 240 3 Miles High - Travis 239 Sign On - Penrose 238 I Can't Bear To Feel Myself Forgotten - Laura J Martin 237 When I'm With You - Shitbaby Mammals * 236 Santa Monica - Teens In Trouble 235 At Most A Kiss - Blossoms 234 Waste A Moment - Kings Of Leon 233 The Only One - Keren Botaro 232 Better L8 Than Never - Amber Lynn Shelves 231 Those Girls - Piper Madison 230 Do The Mess Around - No Monster Club 229 Summer Song - Denim Snakes 228 Eye On You - Sugar Candy Mountain 227 Hard Enough - Sabella 226 Catherine The Great - Divine Comedy 225 Goodbye Upton Park - Cockney Rejects 224 Blue Monday - Gardenfield
* Mariachis: This was #2 at Christmas 2015 and made a fast descent, being #6 on the first week. Combining its totals would make it #51 in 2015 (up from #84) and #57 in 2016.
* Teens In Trouble. In spite of the word "Santa" in the title it is not of course a Christmas song, so its descent was slower thus it is higher in 2016 even though it started in a lower position. Just 2 weeks in 2015, 35-18 not enough to give it a proper placing that year, but in 2016 its extra points would make it #164.
The Blossoms single there is the higher placed of their 2 hits this year. Not quite as popular for me as there seems to be in general.

233 The Only One - Keren Botaro 232 Better L8 Than Never - Amber Lynn Shelves 231 Those Girls - Piper Madison 230 Do The Mess Around - No Monster Club 229 Summer Song - Denim Snakes 228 Eye On You - Sugar Candy Mountain 227 Hard Enough - Sabella 226 Catherine The Great - Divine Comedy 225 Goodbye Upton Park - Cockney Rejects 224 Blue Monday - Gardenfield 223 World Of Silence - Ann May 222 Wheels Keep Turning - Estrella 221 Glory Into You - Katie M. Rider 220 No Ordinary Day - Katcha 219 Buildings - Only Child 218 Come Out Of The Cold - Los Damn Ramblers 217 Rainbow Sky - Infinity 216 Mother - Jerry Williams 215 Why Don't You Like Me? - Quarterlights 214 Outta My Depth - Sunburys **213 Clean Plate Club - Dr. Martino 212 Talk About Glory - Simon Scardanelli
Many of those I would have to listen to to remember how they go. Some I am surprised to see this low, in particular Los Damn Ramblers and Denim Snakes.

211 Out Of Control - Lush 210 Archer - Starflightrocks 209 Take The Seasons - Motion Coaster 208 Is It Possible / Sleep Song - Frankie Cosmos 207 Hole In My Soul - Kaiser Chiefs 206 80's Rockstars - Ghost Trip 205 Valentine Sweetheart - Those Kids **204 Company - Roja 203 Lifeboat - Bel Plaine 202 Wake Up Now - Nuwan **201 I Folking Love Christmas - Isaac And The Beekeepers 200 Big City Women - Tattletale Saints 199 Ready To Blow - Sandinistas **198 Mighty Night - Baby Galaxy 197 We Held Hands Once But Then She Got Embarrassed - Hello Bear 196 Fishy Love - Griffinilla 195 Chit Chat - Beach Weather 194 She's Out Of My League - Cards After Midnight 193 I Go Quiet - Personal Best **192 Modern Day Frankenstein - Lucy Spraggan 191 Glitterball Apocalypse - Last Great Dreamers
Isaac & the Beekeepers have dropped all the way to #59 already and given what kind of song it is, it probably will drop out. Lucy Spraggan and Baby Galaxy are still climbing and in the top 10, at #6 and #8 respectively.

Hans On The Bass had the 2nd biggest hit of the year in 2015. This single had 2 weeks in the chart in 2015 and would move up to #102.
Skinny Lister were the most successful artist of 2015, and had more weeks at #1 that year than any other artist in chart history. "This Christmas" was the Christmas #1 of 2015 and was positioned 23rd in the chart of that year. Combining its points would make it #10 of 2015 or #12 of 2016.

153 Dominos - Peter Bjorn And John We're getting some great "didn't they do better" songs on this list, in particular Peter Bjorn & John, Super Vacation and Apella. Quite a lot of very familiar ones in this list. Did you chart Peter Bjorn And John - What You Talking About? , I would say its the 2nd best song they have ever done and way better than 'Dominos'. I think #153 is a bit generous tbh.

I looked them up and post-2013, Dominos is their only song to have reached my playlist. I will have to look through my search results to see why "What You Talking About" didn't get in. May be that back then I wasn't searching for videos up to 6 weeks later and it never got searched long enough, even if it ended up getting one.

I just looked it up.
What You Talking About was on my list of 11 March, and Dominos appeared twice, on 15 May and 30 October so they must have re-released that one, and by its second release it had a video. The first release was probably an "instant grat" from the album and the second a "proper" single release. I don't quite get that. Release it once, properly.
Video for What You Talking About is dated on youtube as 27 May which is a lot more than 6 weeks after 11 March.

you will be surprised how many indie/alternative acts pre release an instant grat then make it a proper single later on, as I chart grats it is very annoying, do I chart the song twice? do I chart the grat and ignore the single release later on in the year or do I ignore the grat that I LOVE and it might never get a full release so never even make my chart

136 Damn I'm Being Me Again - Bree 135 Fight The Feeling - Side 134 Stay Gold - Guthrie Brown **133 Highway Queen - Nikki Lane 132 Voice In My Head - Boys Forever 131 Elephant In The Room - Riptide Movement 130 Idiot - Kitchen Sink Drama 129 Anywhere - Passenger 128 Still Breathing - Green Day 127 Protect This Love - Vicky-T 126 Stay Close - King No-One *125 Without U - Crown Jwlz 124 Heavy Jesus - Honus Honus 123 Fantasy - Call The Shots 122 Sunrise - Rowan 121 Hero Of Gallifrey - Legs Nose Robinson
* One week at #26 in 2015 moves it up to #108 ** In the first chart of 2017 this is #81 and that would move it up 7 places to #126.
Again there are songs I'd expect to be higher, in particular Riptide Movement and Green Day. These are mostly top 10 hits now though.

120 Body Popping - Fingertrap 119 I Don't Know - Abby K 118 So Long - Spitfires 117 Everyday - Sacred Paws 116 Missin' You - Summer Set 115 Going The Distance - Zipper Club 114 I Can't Stay Away From You - Megan Truong 113 Banshee Beach - Bad Whoremoans 112 Rockabilly Riot - Rockabillyz 111 High School Is The Penalty For Transgressions Yet To Be Specified - Mr. T Experience 110 Colorblind - Mother Of Two 109 Copy Cats - Humdrum Express 108 (Things Will Eventually) Backfire - Lazy Lies 107 Magnificent Time - Travis 106 Valerie Leon - Daniel Romano
These were all top 10 hits but they're just outside the top 100 of the year. Some really good songs in here, particularly Travis and also Fingertrap and Mr T Experience.
Abby K released a lot of songs and did have one much bigger hit.

105 High Heels - Dorian Electra 104 Deep Red - Angry Badgers 103 Me Myself And I - The Baboon Show **102 It's Xmas Don't You Know! - Music In Translation 101 What Is Hype May Never Die - Beyond Repair 100 Better Way - Maxam 99 Kiss The Sky - Jason Derulo 98 Going Away - Ladz From Bkk 97 Brother - Breedlove & Chew Fu 96 A Nation Of Tribes - Public House Chorus 95 We Are The Colonels - Rioja Joe 94 Speaking Of The Devil - Blue Water Highway Band 93 Wanderlust - Gabriane 92 If You Find Yourself In London Town - Ginger Wildheart
Music In Translation was #9 on the last chart of 2016 and given what sort of song it is, hardly surprising it fell to #23 on the first chart of 2017. I guess one more week for it.

78 Life Goes On - DJ Bobo 77 Edge Of The World - Miracle Of Sound 76 I Feel Like Jeremy Corbyn - Sam Harrison 75 Wings - Violent Colours **74 Prisoner In Paradise - Sunrise Avenue 73 Runaway - Bad Wave 72 I'm Gonna Love You - Tiffany Houghton 71 Labor Of Love - Bon Jovi 70 Party Like A Russian - Robbie Williams 69 Creeper Creeper - Dameht 68 Rebecca Receiving - Dowling Poole 67 Our Place - Verge Collection
Sunrise Avenue are #99 on the first chart of 2017 which would lift it 2 places. It doesn't quite catch Bon Jovi which exited the chart on the first week of 2017 and peaked one place lower with the same number of weeks in the chart.
Dowling Poole was my HIT 14 entry and possibly should have been higher than it is.

66 (Man Is) The Biggest b**** Of All - Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott 65 Tip Of The Hat - Gerhardt 64 Viva Love - ABC 63 Personal Daydream - Black Tie Event 62 Hollywood - Magnettes 61 Digital Heart - Ex-Cassette 60 Feel Alive - Johannesson 59 I Came To Love You - Alexander Rybak 58 Rhythm Of The Sun - Mariachis 57 Mr. Apples - Madness **56 Slomo - San Cisco
San Cisco was still #3 on the last chart of the year, and although it fell to #5 on the first week of 2017 it still has a few weeks of its chart run to go. They also have another one higher up.
At this point I'm starting to see that they are all big hits. It was good to see the return of ABC, and one of the best Madness hits for a long long time.
A lot of nationalities represented here. Alexander Rybak won the Eurovision Song Contest for Norway in 2009. "I Came To Love You" is however his biggest hit in my chart so far, bigger than "Fairytale". Gerhardt is from the Netherlands, his song is old-fashioned rock-a-billy, and Johnanseson from Denmark. Mariachis are of Mexican origin, but live in the UK, I think. They had a big Christmas hit in 2015. I think Magnettes are Australian, and Ex-Cassette and San Cisco definitely are, whilst Black Tie Event are the only American act in this section.
Comparing this to the same section of my chart of 1966
66 With A Girl Like You - Troggs 65 Sorrow - Merseys 64 Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa (Sad Song) - Otis Redding 63 Twinkle Toes - Roy Orbison 62 Stop Her On Sight (SOS) - Edwin Starr 61 19th Nervous Breakdown - Rolling Stones 60 Get Ready - Temptations 59 Wouldn't It Be Nice - Beach Boys 58 Lady Jane - Rolling Stones 57 Lightnin' Strikes - Lou Christie 56 Paperback Writer - Beatles
Only 2 nationalities represented there in 1966, the UK and the USA. Mostly big name artists who had lots of hits. It's difficult to say one list is better than the other. For 2016 I have had to search further to find music. It is also noticeable that in the above section of 2016 the 3 British artists were all around in the 1980s (ok Jacqui Abbott joined the Beautiful South in the 1990s but Paul Heaton was around in the 80s).

55 Glowing In The Dark - Girl And The Dreamcatcher *54 Suburban Sex Dungeon - Dexters 53 How I Got Over - Reef 52 Stupid Cupid - Mischief 51 Return To Form - Ciaran Lavery 50 B Side - San Cisco 49 Echo Echo - Wisebud 48 Destiny - We Singing Colors 47 Blue Eyed Skies - Chasin Vegas 46 Bear - Wedding Present
* This was the first #1 of 2016 and spent just one week at that position. It was #3 on the last week of 2015 placed 80th. Combining these would make it #15 in 2015 and #14 in 2016.
Other than that these are mostly #3 hits, with Echo Echo actlaly peaking at #2 and Bear by the Wedding Present only #4 but that song had a long climb - rather surprisingly as they're a major act from the past, and would have been expected a quicker peak but it was a song that grew on me more as I heard it. Reef are of course another major band from the past who made a comeback.
I am not going to post the equivalent 1966 positions in here, but I am now posting both at the same position.

Really interesting post about the nationalities of artists from your 1966 and 2016 charts.
It's not easy to find not UK and not US singers / groups from 1960s. Other European charts were very small and almost all singles in them were from UK / US acts.

In 1966 there was a big hit for Los Bravos (Spain) and the Easybeats (Australia) but that was rare.
45 Shout Out To My Ex - Little Mix **44 Bela Lugosi - Severed Limb 43 A Fistful O' Roses - Rumjacks 42 Down - Fiddler's Green 41 Suzanne - Thieves *40 Black Moon Rising - Paranotes *39 Alarm Clock - Jonas And I *38 Happy At The Weekend - Office Clocks 37 Thank You Polystyrene - Helen Love
** Two more weeks in 2017, at #60 and #96 (I presume it will drop out next week) That moves it up to #40
Those from the beginning of the year: Paranotes had one week in 2015 at #9 and then was #2 on the first week of the year. It had a shortish run but would rise to #27 and would be among the #2s.
It also goes above Office Clocks which had its one week in 2015 at #19 and that lifts it only to #32.
Jonas & I had a far longer run in the chart than either, 2 weeks in 2015, 59-40 then went up and down and up again and eventually peaked at #3, however the weeks in the lower positions don't give it enough and whislt it would also be #32 with those 2 extra weeks, it would still be lower than Office Clocks (and thus would be lower than Paranotes too).
- If my chart was only based on the UK top 40 then Little Mix would be #1 of the year. - Two celtic rock bands in a row and neither of them actually Irish. Rumjacks are Australian and Fiddler's Green are German (and have been around about 25 years). Paranotes are also German and Thieves are one-third German (the other members are British and American). Jonas And I are from Finland (and not the highest placed from that country).
