93. INXS
Out with: Disappear Saved in previous rounds by: Never Tear Us Apart, Need You Tonight, Mystify, Baby Don't Cry, Beautiful Girl, Listen Like Thieves, Good Times
I didn't know that picking 'Disappear' for INXS in this round would be a bad sign for them, but that's what they do from this contest as they finish at #93. They are the first act who started before the mid-nineties to be knocked out, but there will be plenty more to come.

92. THE BANGLES
Out with: Walking Down Your Street Saved in previous rounds by: Eternal Flame, Manic Monday, Walk Like An Egyptian, Hazy Shade Of Winter, If She Knew What She Wants, Going Down To Liverpool, I'll Set You Free, Be With You
This talented girl band had a good run of singles in the mid to late 80's before splitting up. They eventually reformed again but it is their early hits that I most fondly remember - especially power ballad 'Eternal Flame' and the Prince-composed 'Manic Monday', which were also their 2 biggest hits.

Bangles : Honestly 80s wasn't good decade for girl groups. They had only 2 number # 1s in my chart (Manic Monday and I'll Set You Free). I don't like "Walk Like An Egyptian" and "Eternal Flame".

Oh I think the 80s had some of the best girl bands: The Bangles, Bananarama, The Pointer Sisters, Sister Sledge, Mel & Kim.....

I'm Girls Aloud / Sugababes fan, but in last 2-3 years my main interest is Lithuanian girl groups.

91. LADY GAGA
Out with: Paparazzi Saved in previous rounds by: Bad Romance, Poker Face, Just Dance, Telephone, The Edge Of Glory, Born This Way, Alejandro, Judas, You And I
I was gaga over this act 5 years ago, but my interest started to wane after the 'Artpop' album, even though I carried on buying her albums right up to and including the newie, 'Joanne'. The fact that she has survived the first 9 rounds means she has some great tunes under her belt, and I do quite like the new album - but she would definitely have been a lot higher in 2012.

90. SOFT CELL
Out with: Soul inside Saved in previous rounds by: Tainted Love, Say Hello Wave Goodbye, What, Torch, Bedsitter, Where The Heart Is, Down In The Subway, Where Did Our Love Go, The Night, Numbers
I made a decision at the start that bands were to be kept separate from the lead singer's solo career, apart from a couple of exceptions which I will explain when I get to them. Unfortunately this was bad news for Soft Cell, who would have survived for quite a while yet had I included Marc Almond's solo output. Marc narrowly missed out on a top 100 placing and I do wonder if he would have beaten his old band had I included him, but unfortunately I had to be harsh on quite a few great acts in order to trim it down to 100. Incidentally, Soft Cell would have been top 5 had I compiled the top 100 from just the first round!

89. AMY WINEHOUSE
Out with: Between The Cheats Saved in previous rounds by: Back To Black, Valerie, Tears Dry On Their Own, You Know I'm No Good, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, Rehab, Love Is A Losing Game, Cupid, Our Day Will Come, Monkey Man, Addicted
I must admit that I thought our Amy would do a bit better, but then she did only release 2 albums in her lifetime so she's done well to get through 11 rounds I suppose.

88. WHAM!
Out with: A Ray Of Sunshine Saved in previous rounds by: Last Christmas, Everything She Wants, Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, Freedom, Club Tropicana, The Edge Of Heaven, I'm Your Man, Young Guns (Go For It!), Bad Boys, Wham Rap! (Enjoy What You Do), Where Did Your Heart Go, If You Were There
Wham! were never in any danger until I'd used up all of the singles, and from there it was always going to be a struggle as they were very much a singles act. I only had enough songs to use for another 7 rounds anyway so a top ten spot was never going to beckon. 'A Ray Of Sunshine' is also featured on their 'Club Fantastic Megamix' single, which was ineligible to use as mixes and medleys count as the same song being used twice, and that breaks my rules for this contest (but to be honest using that wouldn't have helped them anyway!) There was a case for including 'Careless Whisper' as a Wham! song as it is featured on their 'Make It Big' album and was credited to the duo when released in America. I decided against this though as I've always thought of it as a George Michael single and felt no reason to change that. Now, if I'd put Wham! and George Michael in as one act then that would have been more of a force to be reckoned with!

Amy Winehouse is # 1 in my least favourite singers/groups list.

I didn't even know Amy had 100 songs to her name! She hasn't. Neither have Wham!. I did say that anybody who runs out of songs will be automatically be out and at the next position. Although I am debating whether to carry on using the last song I have of theirs in each further round and seeing how far they can get.

This is an interesting concept, should be fun! Agree with a lot of this but would have had Scissor Sisters much higher. I played those first two albums to death! So many great tracks would have pushed them a good 20 places or so up! I was Gaga up until ArtPop too, again she would have been higher, although perhaps not as much as I originally thought, struggling to think of album tracks...maybe Hair and Gypsy. Presumably the order you place the songs in the Saved In Previous Rounds correspond with your best to least liked songs by a particular artist and the sequence they've been used so far?

Presumably the order you place the songs in the Saved In Previous Rounds correspond with your best to least liked songs by a particular artist and the sequence they've been used so far? Yes they are in order of when I used them. Although there are occasions when I've realised I've liked a song more than some I've used in previous rounds, so the ordering might not be 100%. It's really about trying to find the song that is most likely to keep an act in the contest.

87. FIVE STAR
Out with: There's A Brand New World Saved in previous rounds by: Let Me Be The One, System Addict, Rain Or Shine, The Slightest Touch, Stay Out Of My Life, Love Take Over, Can't Wait Another Minute, All Fall Down, Find The Time, If I Say Yes, Whenever You're Ready, Say Goodbye, Strong As Steel
Probably not a band that would appear in many people's all-time chart, but I used to love them back in the day and they did have a fantastic run of singles from their first 2 albums. By the time of 1988's 'Rock My World' their popularity was already waning and the hits all but dried up.

86. THE MAMAS & THE PAPAS/MAMA CASS
Out with: Words Of Love Saved in previous rounds by: Dream A Little Dream Of Me, It's Getting Better, California Dreamin', Dedicated To The One I Love, I'm Coming To The Best Part Of My Life, Monday Monday, Creeque Alley, Make Your Own Kind Of Music, Move In A Little Closer Baby, California Earthquake, I Saw Her Again Last Night, Disney Girls, Spanish Harlem, One Way Ticket
Maybe unfairly, I've lumped Mama Cass's solo career in with her band's but I felt I didn't know enough of either's to include them both separate and I do love them both.

85. CULTURE CLUB
Out with: Mistake No. 3 Saved in previous rounds by: Karma Chameleon, Do You Really Want To Hurt Me, It's A Miracle, Church Of The Poison Mind, The Medal Song, The War Song, Victims, Time (Clock Of The Heart), I Just Wanna Be Loved, Your Kisses Are Charity, Move Away, I'll Tumble 4 Ya, Starman, God Thank You Woman, Love Is Love
Like with Soft Cell there was a good case for lumping Culture Club & Boy George's solo output in together but I decided against it (rightly or wrongly). If I had then there's no way they'd be out yet but never mind.

Two versions of Dream A Little Dream were # 1 in my chart. First time it was Anita Harris in 1968 and many years after it this song was released in Switzerland as the Beautiful South's single (my favourite their song).

84. PULP
Out with: I Spy Saved in previous rounds by: Common People, Disco 2000, Sorted For E's And Whizz, Something Changed, Do You Remember The First Time, Babies, Underwear, Lipgloss, Mis-Shapes, Bar Italia, Razzmatazz, Monday Morning, Born To Cry, Feeling Called Love, Help The Aged, Pencil Skirt
Pulp have done amazingly well and helped considerably by their fantastic 1995 album 'Different Class', of which nearly every track has been represented in this contest. They finally bow out here, although they were close to going out earlier in the contest but managed to scrape through and gain a new lease of life for a while. They are easily one of my favourite bands from the Brit-Pop genre.

83. GABRIELLE
Out with: Hollywood Saved in previous rounds by: If You Ever, Rise, Dreams, Walk On By, Sunshine, Out Of Reach, Give Me A Little More Time, Going Nowhere, Don't Need The Sun To Shine (To Make Me Smile), When A Woman, Because Of You, I Wish, Forget About The World, Should I Stay, If You Really Cared, Say Goodbye, I Live In Hope
Doing this countdown has reminded me of how much I used to love Gabrielle back in the nineties and early noughties. Reliving the old hits has got her this far, but unfortunately her comeback track 'Hollywood' with Naughty Boy wasn't great enough to see her through another round.
