82. M PEOPLE
Out with: Walk Away Saved in previous rounds by: Don't Look Any Further, Itchycoo Park, How Can I Love You More, Moving On Up, Search For The Hero, One Night In Heaven, Sight For Sore Eyes, Just For You, Love Rendezvous, Colour My Life, What A Fool Believes, Open Your Heart, Renaissance, Angel Street, Fantasy Island, Dreaming, Someday, Precious Pearl
Heather Small's band (I didn't include her solo output) only just scraped into my top 100 and were very nearly out a few times in the earlier rounds... then I started to listen to tracks of theirs that I haven't heard in a good 20 years and I realised why I loved them in the first place.

81. LIONEL RICHIE
Out with: To Love A Woman Saved in previous rounds by: Hello, Endless Love, All Night Long, My Destiny, Running With The Night, Stuck On You, Truly, Say You Say Me, Love Oh Love, Dancing On The Ceiling, Penny Lover, Do It To Me, Tender Heart, Angel, I Forgot, Don't Stop The Music, I Call It Love, You Are, Don't Wanna Lose You
Well this is a bit of a shocker, I wasn't expecting Lionel to go out just yet. If I had included his Commodores hits too then there's no way he would have been. They narrowly missed out on making the top 100, as did Enrique, who's duet with Lionel got him knocked out! Looking at those songs, that would make a fantastic greatest hits compilation - and how 'Love Oh Love' wasn't a massive hit I will never ever know!

80. THE HUMAN LEAGUE
Out with: The Things That Dreams Are Made Of Saved in previous rounds by: Don't You Want Me, Together In Electric Dreams, Open Your Heart, Louise, Human, Love Action (I Believe In Love), Mirror Man, Empire State Human, The Lebanon, (Keep Feeling) Fascination, The Sound Of The Crowd, Life On Your Own, Tell Me When, Love Is All That Matters, Being Boiled, One Man In My Heart, Stay With Me Tonight, Good Times Bad Times, Heart Like A Wheel, Darkness
One of my favourite eighties bands are out, despite doing exceptionally well in the first few rounds. In fact they haven't been anywhere near the bottom until the last three or four rounds. I decided to include 'Together in electric dreams' (and therefore 'Good times bad times') as it is always confused for a Human League song by people anyway, and I've seen them live twice and they've finished with it both times.

The Human League had only 1 hit in my chart "Soundtrack to a Generation".

79. TERENCE TRENT D'ARBY
Out with: Holding On To You Saved in previous rounds by: Sign Your Name, If You Let Me Stay, Wishing Well, Delicate, Let Her Down Easy, Dance Little Sister, Rain, I'll Never Turn My Back On You (Father's Words), If You All Get To Heaven, She Kissed Me, Who's Lovin' You, Do You Love Me Like You Say, Heartbreak Hotel, Let's Go Forward, Baby Let Me Share My Love, Seven More Days, I Still Love You, A Change Is Gonna Come, The Birth Of Maudie, Turn The Page, Neon Messiah
Terence Trent D'Arby (AKA Sananda Maitreya) burst onto the scene in 1987 with his incredible debut album and immediately became a rival for Prince. That is until he released his comeback second album in 1989 and it will surely go down as one of my most disappointing albums of all-time. He redeemed himself quite a bit with 1993's 'Symphony or Damn' but it's the debut that is still the biggest jewel in his crown.

78. THE CURE
Out with: Primary Saved in previous rounds by: Lovesong, The Lovecats, Friday I'm In Love, Close To Me, Boys Don't Cry, Inbetween Days, Just Like Heaven, Lullaby, Why Can't I Be You, Let's Go To Bed, Catch, The Caterpillar, The Walk, A Forest, Never Enough, The End Of The World, A Letter To Elise, High, Mint Car, Cut Here, Taking Off, Pictures Of You
I really need to explore the Cure's catalogue further as they suffered with me running out of songs that I was familiar with. There are some amazing tunes on that list though!

77. OTIS REDDING
Out with: Cigarettes And Coffee Saved in previous rounds by: (Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay, Try A Little Tenderness, My Girl, Hard To Handle, These Arms Of Mine, Tramp, A Change Is Gonna Come, I've Been Loving You Too Long, Respect, Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa (Sad Song), Wonderful World, That's How Strong My Love Is, Satisfaction, White Christmas, You Don't Miss Your Water, Knock On Wood, Mr. Pitiful, Love Man, Ole Man Trouble, Shake, I Can't Turn You Loose, My Lover's Prayer, Pain In My Heart
Soul legend Otis Redding recorded what is surely one of the greatest songs of all time, '(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay', just days before his tragic death in 1967, aged just 26. It's hard to imagine what he might have achieved had he not been taken from us so young.

76. YAZOO
Out with: Happy People Saved in previous rounds by: Nobody's Diary, Only You, Don't Go, Situation, Midnight, Mr. Blue, Tuesday, The Other Side Of Love, Bad Connection, Too Pieces, Goodbye 70s, State Farm, Anyone, Ode To Boy, Winter Kills, In My Room, Bring Your Love Down (Didn't I), Walk Away From Love, Sweet Thing, Softly Over, Good Times, And On, Unmarked
OK so I just realised that I used 'Bad Connection' twice, but I don't think it would have affected the outcome. The only other song of theirs I hadn't used yet was 'I Before E Except After C' which would have seen them out this time anyway. Alison Moyet and Vince Clarke will both feature again on this countdown though!

75. THE SUPREMES
Out with: (Love Is Like A) Heatwave Saved in previous rounds by: Where Did Our Love Go, Baby Love, The Happening, I'm Gonna Make You Love Me, Stop! In The Name Of Love, You Can't Hurry Love, Reflections, You Keep Me Hanging On, Come See About Me, Nathan Jones, River Deep Mountain High, I Hear A Symphony, Love Child, In And Out Of Love, Back In My Arms Again, Someday We'll Be Together, I Second That Emotion, Love Is Here And Now You're Gone, Stoned Love, My World Is Empty Without You, Love Is Like An Itching In My Heart, Forever Came Today, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, Automatically Sunshine, Little Bright Star
Well I wasn't expecting Diana Ross's old band to go out just yet, but here they are. That is an impressive list of classics there though... and there's still the consolation that Diana Ross on her own is still doing well.

74. BANANARAMA
Out with: Careless Whisper Saved in previous rounds by: Love In The First Degree, Robert De Niro's Waiting, Venus, I Want You Back, Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye, Cruel Summer, Shy Boy, Help!, I Heard A Rumour, Rough Justice, Movin' On, Nathan Jones, It Ain't What You Do (It's The Way That You Do It), Love Truth & Honesty, Really Saying Something, Baby It's Christmas, Last Thing On My Mind, The Runner, Long Train Running, The Sound Of Silence, I Can't Help It, Now Or Never, A Trick Of The Night, Young At Heart, Love Don't Live Here, More More More
"Oh, the Banana's finished early again..." Sometimes cover versions of a classic are enough to see an artist safely through. Sadly this was not one of those times, even though I do like it in a funny sort of way. In hindsight I think I picked the wrong song for them as I thought I liked it more than I did, but there's no going back and they still finish at a respectable #74. And how many people knew that they sang the original version of the Bluebells #1 classic 'Young At Heart'?

73. CARLY SIMON
Out with: Night Owl Saved in previous rounds by: Nobody Does It Better, You're So Vain, Coming Around Again, Why, Give Me All Night, All I Want Is You, The Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of, Let The River Run, You Belong To Me, The Right Thing To Do, Mockingbird, Better Not Tell Her, Haven't Got Time For The Pain, Like A River, That's The Way I've Always Heard It Should Be, Anticipation, Legend In Your Own Time, We Have No Secrets, Two Hot Girls (On A Hot Summer Night), Jesse, Attitude Dancing, Devoted To You, Waterfall, Angel From Montgomery, Two Little Sisters, Tonight And Forever, Touched By The Sun
Given the amount of amazingly brilliant songs recorded by the uber-talented singer/songwriter Carly Simon, I find it ridiculous just how few hits she has had in the UK. 'Give Me All Night' sounds like a million selling anthem in a parallel universe, yet it limped into the charts at #98. I feel she could be higher on this countdown too if I took the time to listen to more of her back catalogue.

72. MARVIN GAYE
Out with: You're A Special Part Of Me Saved in previous rounds by: I Heard It Through The Grapevine, What's Going On, Sexual Healing, Too Busy Thinking About My Baby, Abraham Martin and John, Let's Get It On, Ain't No Mountain High Enough, You're All I Need To Get By, Got To Give It Up, The Onion Song, Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing, It Takes Two, Wherever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home), Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology), You Are Everything, How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You), Can I Get A Witness, I Want You, That's The Way Love Is, Stop Look Listen (To Your Heart), You're A Wonderful One, Pride And Joy, You Ain't Livin' Till You're Lovin', Stubborn Kind Of Fellow, I'll Be Doggone, Purple Snowflakes, If I Could Build My Whole World Around You, Lucky Lucky Me
Another legend who was struck down in his prime. I think, like a few of the others who have already appeared in this countdown, that his position has suffered with me not knowing enough of his material. Still, #72 isn't a bad showing.

71. DINA CARROLL
Out with: I Didn't Mean To Hurt You Saved in previous rounds by: The Perfect Year, Don't Be A Stranger, It's Too Late, Ain't No Man, Escaping, Special Kind Of Love, So Close, This Time, Express, Livin' For The Weekend, Heaven Sent, Falling, Son Of A Precher Man, Without Love, Only Human, Hold On, Mind Body & Soul, Someone Like You, Run To You, I Don't Want To Talk About It, One Two Three, You'll Never Know, If I Knew You Then, Why Did I Let You Go, Walk on By, World Come Between Us, Love Will Always Bring You Back To Me, Don't Stop The Music, Give Me The Right
Not a bad placing for somebody who only released 2 studio albums! A third one was planned but never materialised, which is a shame as Dina was one of my favourite singers of the nineties and I had her down as the next Whitney after hearing the fantastic debut.

70. KIM WILDE
Out with: Stone Saved in previous rounds by: Kids In America, Cambodia, You Came, Another Step (Closer To You), You Keep Me Hangin' On, Four Letter Word, The Second Time, Love Is Holy, Never Trust A Stranger, Chequered Love, Rage To Love, If I Can't Have You, It's Here, Water On Glass, Boys, Child Come Away, Love Blonde, I Can't Say Goodbye, Time, View From A Bridge, Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree, Say You Really Want Me, Who Do You Think You Are, Hey Mister Heartache, Love In The Natural Way, Hey Mister Snowman, 2 6 5 8 0, The Touch, Heart Over Mind, Without Your Love
Very much a star of the eighties, although she did have a few hits in the nineties, Kim could do no wrong for about a decade. She doesn't do too bad here either, just finishing in my top 70.

Kim Wilde has many # 1s in my chart. From them only "Schoolgirl" wasn't mentioned in your very good selection.
Personal favourite : "You Came" Least favourite : "Cambodia"

69. THE POINTER SISTERS
Out with: Yes We Can Can Saved in previous rounds by: Jump (For My Love), Slow Hand, I'm So Excited, Automatic, Dare Me, He's So Shy, Fire, I Need You, Someday We'll Be Together, Neutron Dance, Should I Do It, See How The Love Goes, After You, Back In My Arms, American Music, Hypnotized, Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves, I'm Ready For Love, Fairytale, Goldmine, Telegraph Your Love, Christmas In New York, I Feel For You, Happiness, Heart To Heart, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, Baby Come And Get It, Overnight Success, Be There, Heart Beat, Could I Be Dreamin'
Love the Pointers! Unless I've missed someone they can rejoice in the fact that they are the highest placed all-girl group on this countdown - beating The Supremes, Bananarama and The Bangles. Unfortunately The Go-Go's narrowly missed out, and there was no room for The Spice Girls, Eternal or The Three Degrees either.

Schoolgirl was the single in Europe (released in 1986), but not in UK.
Do you know Luv' (girl group from the Netherlands) ?
